With the curry one they could have drizzled it with some raita, some chutney, some crispy fried onions or pickled onions, and a bit of fresh coriander and it would have been so much more interesting than your bog standard spud.
this, I cant stand some of the exaggerated reviewers that make out everything in the world is amazing to eat, when in reality its not...i stopped watching them. Gary keeps it real

Most "Indian" restaurants in the UK are actually owned by people of Bangladeshi origin, followed by Pakistanis. Actual Indian restaurants, like those owned by Hindus are less common, but there are some very good ones.

Not sure how they cook the potatoes there, but a thought: after cooking, and before cutting it open, how about like a two minute splash in a fryer? Maybe reduce (what I assume oven baking) cook time to account for it to prevent giving it that overdone/stale texture, but achieving maximum crisp? Am I being silly, or am I onto something?

Hi Gary. The spuds look great and you do get a very generous amount for the price. Here in Australia, you pay double of what you have paid. Here in Tasmania you get one spud cut in half filled with Sour cream, cheese and topping of your choice. You do have a choice of about 10 toppings. Gary, I wouldn't complain about the prices in England. You get twice the amount for less than we pay out here. Anyway, great post, great work. Love the channel. If you ever get the chance to travel to Australia 🇦🇺 especially if you are going to visit Tasmania, I do have a spare room. It's a big and lovely home. Hi Gary! Congratulations on hitting 200K subscribers. I saw your lovely community post & wanted to comment there first, before on this review. A jacket potato with a variety of toppings isn't something I eat or would ever buy for myself, so in rare form for me, there's not much I can say about it. 😅 It would certainly fill you up I imagine, but such a heavy & overly gloopy meal. That's the type of thing I would prefer to make at home myself as a small side dish, but with crispy potato & better quality toppings. Congratulations again to you & Mr CM. Gary , when I saw the prices, I thought ' blimey ' £9 -£11 for a spud , then I saw the portions , wow , they are enormous, each one would do me for at least two meals , crikey . The fact that there's a queue outside shows that a) there's a market for jacket spuds and b) they must be good. Great review again and congrats on the upcoming 200k , roll on 250k .

We have a Spudman. The queue goes up the road and around the corner and when he's out, he's out. Sells enough to earn a living and that enough. Pretty much like old style pie and mash shops, they would close early once they'd earned a crust.

I've been here since you had 2,000 followers when, one day, you popped up on my feed. By far the best food review channel, and I'm including TV and satellite as well.
Each baked spud was massive, Gary! Looked very appealing so no wonder there was a queue at Spudbros when you got there. I think the cheese and beans one was probably the best as the last one looked too gooey.
Always a joy to watch your videos Gary...whether it is a Michelin Star restaurant, way beyond my financial means... or a pop-up shop selling baked spuds!... That is so True. When I do it at home I like to use a Dutch Oven and Sea Salt and Fresh Ground Peppercorn the exterior to get that perfect texture and crunch and flavor.

Hi Gary & Camera-son. Aw, fellas, this is what I made this afternoon for my wife before I went to work, and she was getting ready for her work's Christmas do. Baked jacket spuds! Baked 'em with lots of salt & some oil; scooped out the insides, cut it with lots of butter & cheese and bacon, then threw 'em back in the oven, topped with some 4-day matured bolognaise ragu - and even more cheese! I cut some IKEA smoked-salmon with Philedelphia and dill as an optional topping for tmoz's leftover baked spuds. The skins do need to be crispy, tho', for sure. It's the time of year for this kind of comfort food! Good objective reflections on your overall experience towards the end, pal, as always. Love, Si (Claire still getting steaming on her staff-do 😂)

For me there is a difference between a Jacket Potato and a Baked Potato. Jacket can be cooked in an Oven or a Microwave. However a Baked Potato has to be cooked in an oven. I do much prefer the Oven variety as they cook slowly and give a much better flavour. Your presentation was excellent as ever, Tat you two could eat all that food between you shows your hearty appetite and resolve not to waste food. Preston prices show what a steal this meal is. My favourite has to be Chilli and Cheese and if I knew in advance that this was on the cards, would carry a bottle of hot sauce to 'liven' it up.
Your right Gary. In Central London nothings cheap, especially food. It's not exactly that the vendors are greedy. It's all about overheads. I recently went to a Christmas Market on the South Coast and the food prices were very high. One spud seller was charging £14.50 for a potato with a choice of filling. Although I will say that it could be easily shared between 2 people as it was huge and the topping portions were really loaded. The guy on the stall was great. He even gave us an extra box so we could split it between us. Let's face it, you can't beat a good old baked potato on a chilly day, with your favourite topping 🥰🥰.

I feed my family here and it will cost us $154 to feed us 7..... It costs $4.50AUD for 1kg of potatos - $1, 500g for the tuna they use - coleslaw $1..... sooooooooo please tell me now how that is good value?
$6.50 i could feed my entire family and still have left overs of the exact same thing.....Yet you have no problem if i pay $154 for the same thing and they make $147.50 profit from just my family..........

Hi Gary. The spuds look great and you do get a very generous amount for the price. Here in Australia, you pay double of what you have paid. Here in Tasmania you get one spud cut in half filled with Sour cream, cheese and topping of your choice. You do have a choice of about 10 toppings. Gary, I wouldn't complain about the prices in England. You get twice the amount for less than we pay out here. Anyway, great post, great

A jacket potato with a variety of toppings isn't something I eat or would ever buy for myself, so in rare form for me, there's not much I can say about it. 😅 It would certainly fill you up I imagine, but such a heavy & overly gloopy meal.
That's the type of thing I would prefer to make at home myself as a small side dish, but with crispy potato & better quality toppings.

Gary , when I saw the prices, I thought ' blimey ' £9 -£11 for a spud , then I saw the portions , wow , they are enormous, each one would do me for at least two meals , crikey .
The fact that there's a queue outside shows that a) there's a market for jacket spuds and b) they must be good.

We have a Spudman. The queue goes up the road and around the corner and when he's out, he's out. Sells enough to earn a living and that enough. Pretty much like old style pie and mash shops, they would close early once they'd earned a crust.

Each baked spud was massive, Gary! Looked very appealing so no wonder there was a queue at Spudbros when you got there. I think the cheese and beans one was probably the best as the last one looked too gooey.

That is so True. When I do it at home I like to use a Dutch Oven and Sea Salt and Fresh Ground Peppercorn the exterior to get that perfect texture and crunch and flavor.
Skins best part for me has to be crisp and no sauce touched it lol

Hi Gary & Camera-son. Aw, fellas, this is what I made this afternoon for my wife before I went to work, and she was getting ready for her work's Christmas do. Baked jacket spuds! Baked 'em with lots of salt & some oil; scooped out the insides, cut it with lots of butter & cheese and bacon, then threw 'em back in the oven, topped with some 4-day matured bolognaise ragu - and even more cheese!
I cut some IKEA smoked-salmon with Philedelphia and dill as an optional topping for tmoz's leftover baked spuds. The skins do need to be crispy, tho', for sure.
It's the time of year for this kind of comfort food!

For me there is a difference between a Jacket Potato and a Baked Potato. Jacket can be cooked in an Oven or a Microwave. However a Baked Potato has to be cooked in an oven. I do much prefer the Oven variety as they cook slowly and give a much better flavour.
Your presentation was excellent as ever, Tat you two could eat all that food between you shows your hearty appetite and resolve not to waste food. Preston prices show what a steal this meal is. My favourite has to be Chilli and Cheese and if I knew in advance that this was on the cards, would carry a bottle of hot sauce to 'liven' it up.

Your right Gary. In Central London nothings cheap, especially food. It's not exactly that the vendors are greedy. It's all about overheads.
I recently went to a Christmas Market on the South Coast and the food prices were very high. One spud seller was charging £14.50 for a potato with a choice of filling. Although I will say that it could be easily shared between 2 people as it was huge and the topping portions were really loaded. The guy on the stall was great. He even gave us an extra box so we could split it between us.
Let's face it, you can't beat a good old baked potato on a chilly day, with your favourite topping 🥰🥰.

I feed my family here and it will cost us $154 to feed us 7..... It costs $4.50AUD for 1kg of potatos - $1, 500g for the tuna they use - coleslaw $1..... sooooooooo please tell me now how that is good value?
$6.50 i could feed my entire family and still have left overs of the exact same thing.....Yet you have no problem if i pay $154 for the same thing and they make $147.50 profit from just my family..........
