I know cel animation like this is more costly than digital, but I think it would do a new anime series good to be animated in that 90's DBZ style. Especially if they animated Super like this, it would just be so good if they had the right animators/artists.
But most of all they would need better animation schedule or else the talent will mean nothing if they aren't given the time to work their magic. On a video interview with anime AJ about super production process it was explained that old dbz episodes had about an 8 week schedule to work on. But then go on to say how Super only had about 6 weeks to get things done. Makes me wonder what GTs schedule was like because even though animation itself would be lacking the art design was very consistent in quality otherwise.
Z art style will always and forever be the goat no matter what, but with newer technology the art style sadly changes as time goes by. Although with the broly movie i think shintani’s style imo does both parties justice, seeming new and fresh for the new audiences while capturing the old og goat fans favor of Z and hope we’ll continue with shintani’s when the anime returns this year
As a DB Fan, I disagree, while the Z style is "GOATed", it's simply outdated. Super's style is simply the superior artstyle and it outclasses Z's style in every way. Super's artstyle>>>Z's artstyle ALL the way.

Sure it’s “outdated” but even then there are scenes that hold up today and are still praised (the infamous fight between ssj2 goku and ssj2 vegeta being one example) Z made you “tune in” and “feel” as if you were really there with the characters, watching everything unfold before your eyes whereas super is like a “fast-paced-cool-looking-flashy” cartoon. To add aswell Z had more defined looking cuts, bruises, and scraps where super hardly tried and most importantly blood, which complimented with everything and super had absolutely 0 which made everything look “bland,” “pale,” and less “impactful.” But everyone has their own preference, the point I’m making is shintani does a good job at balancing both parties (new and old audiences) and has mostly likely improved since the broly movie and is perfecting that balance and want to see it return as the artstyle for the anime when it returns for season 2.

Yeah it definitely doesn't surpass broly. Broly's designs are engaging because of its animation an how fluid they all move instead of their key frame. In other words what each Character looks like when u pause the film. The artstlye is simple but allows for greater Animation and movement

The ONLY thing i could say i like about supers art is the background environment animation. like the mountains and trees and stuff. It would be interesting to see a mix of the two. z characters model with super background lighting etc. if that makes sense lol
I think the side by sides of beast gohan really hammers your point home. If there's one thing I will give credit to Super is making The energy auras/ energy attacks ALOT more detailed then Z. We can only dream that the good parts of both can be in a animation one day.

If you think about it, more than half of mid-late DBZ OG staff was also working on Super. On super, Yamamuro was once again a chief animation director and character designer and most episode directors/supervisors were famous key animators and animation directors in DBZ, some even from DB like Shimanuki who always rivaled Kazuya Hisada for the title of best action animator at the times of early dbz. We can only chalk it to a combination of early production issues which screwed the long running schedule and also the fact that most of the og artists lost their touch on how to draw DBZ proportions as well as Yamamuro's buu era due to the series' long hiatus before resurrection of f came around the corner. The only modern gen artists that decided to bring back the gritty art from back then were stars like Takahashi, Karasawa and tu yong ce. Maybe also Shintani because of his loose yet nostalgic early dbz maeda designs combined with some of modern yamamuro traits. In order to sorta replicate the designs of early dbz legendary designers and key animators (they didn't work on dbs) like Masaki Sato's, Maeda's, Okimoto, Miyahara, Nakatsuru (My favorite early dbz drawer), I think Shintani is up for the task. To replicate the late dbz designs of legendary designers and key animators like Shimanuki, Naotoshi Shida, late Yamamuro and Keisuke Masunaga, I think Takahashi or Shida himself are up for the task.

I think it's amazing how the super angry characters seem to be confused lmao
The ONLY thing i could say i like about supers art is the background environment animation. like the mountains and trees and stuff. It would be interesting to see a mix of the two. z characters model with super background lighting etc. if that makes sense lol
I think the side by sides of beast gohan really hammers your point home. If there's one thing I will give credit to Super is making The energy auras/ energy attacks ALOT more detailed then Z.
We can only dream that the good parts of both can be in a animation one day.

If you think about it, more than half of mid-late DBZ OG staff was also working on Super.
On super, Yamamuro was once again a chief animation director and character designer and most episode directors/supervisors were famous key animators and animation directors in DBZ, some even from DB like Shimanuki who always rivaled Kazuya Hisada for the title of best action animator at the times of early dbz.
We can only chalk it to a combination of early production issues which screwed the long running schedule and also the fact that most of the og artists lost their touch on how to draw DBZ proportions as well as Yamamuro's buu era due to the series' long hiatus before resurrection of f came around the corner.
The only modern gen artists that decided to bring back the gritty art from back then were stars like Takahashi, Karasawa and tu yong ce. Maybe also Shintani because of his loose yet nostalgic early dbz maeda designs combined with some of modern yamamuro traits. In order to sorta replicate the designs of early dbz legendary designers and key animators (they didn't work on dbs) like Masaki Sato's, Maeda's, Okimoto, Miyahara, Nakatsuru (My favorite early dbz drawer), I think Shintani is up for the task. To replicate the late dbz designs of legendary designers and key animators like Shimanuki, Naotoshi Shida, late Yamamuro and Keisuke Masunaga, I think Takahashi or Shida himself are up for the task.

Pues realmente hay ciertos efectos que en Z no se ven bien pero el estilo de dibujo de Z (más detalle no mejor animación) mejora algunas caras raras que tiene super por la animación xd
Muchos no entienden la diferencia entre animación y diseño, claro el diseño de super es horrible (quitando la película de Broly) pero en muchas de estas comparaciones están poniendo un frame específico de transición y ellos lo hacen con el estilo de z pero con todo el tiempo del mundo para que se vea bien, cosa que si estás tratando de animar es casi imposible mantener ese nivel de detalle.

One thing I will say is golden frieza looks better in dbs because of the reflective shading.

Se que la animación de z era una joya, pero no es justo que pongan en comparación a los peores frames de dbs hay animaciones en dbs que son insuperables y en dbz no se podía lograr unos efectos tan épicos cómo ahora, mi opinión es que las dos son grandes estilos de animación y que ninguno debe ser menos valorado que el otro
Cómo la del ultra instinto a mi me gustó más la de súper
Aparte que los del "estilo de z" si los hicieran ahora no saldría como en el video
