I would like to start with a Thank you for changing my mindset about chronic pain. Suffering from 7-8 yrs of chronic neck and shoulder pain, recently I have been diagnosed to be hyper lax or hyper mobile and recommend by the so called doctors that my body type is such that I could be in pain for the rest of my life...!!
By watching your videos and relating to your personal story I think I can follow your footsteps to be pain free and have strong muscles. Thank you for changing my belief anf progressing towards a healthier and pain free life...!!
    Love and respect from India

I just turned 74 and have been a massage therapist for 35 years doing deep tissue work. Seem to be all the sudden totally broken. I am finding your videos really understandable. I feel strong, but out of balance. Painful left should, left knee, gluts, ITB. I am looking forward to moving forward using your vids. thanks

I felt my heartrate accelerate with the wall exercises but with the warmup stretches with the head, neck and trunk rotations it was relaxing. I like these exercises, as after all were done I could feel more circulation in the tops of my shoulders and upper back!

Wao thank you!!! A great start to strenthening a rehab shoulder that has range of motion but too squeaky for real pilates yet. I must admit I was a bit puzzled by the start, but then it slowly dawned on me that the shoulder is also a SYSTEM with many muscles.... no use going like a rocket on one when the rest haven't woken up yet. Thank you for calm, clear, well paced exercises and a great flow throughout the video. Am a fan!!!

I love your videos. I’ve gained much more mobility and way less pain in an impinged shoulder. I have been doing the couch stretches for two weeks now and have reduced my pain by at least 80%. And it feels so good doing that stretch. I will now add these exercises to my daily practice. Thank you so much for the pain relief.

I love shoulder exercises because I tend to get stiff in this area and pain around my shoulder blades. Most likely from poor posture. This entire routine felt good and was the right amount of challenge for me. Pain-free and limber afterwards. I will try doing it twice next time. That first abdominal breathing exercise was very unique and effective.

Thanks for sharing. Just wanted to share my challenging/impactful shoulder journey. I’ve had chronic shoulder injury and pain, a tough recovery for nearly 5 years. A partial tear, tendinopathy, adhesive capsulitis (which is mostly better now). Some steps forward, some steps back. I’m waiting to move to find a good shoulder pt provider. I hope someday I can hang on a bar with one arm again. It’s been so long. Thanks for the inspiration :)

Thank you, Upright Health. Last year, I edited 650 pages in 21 days, with no day off. This was all done on screen with many, many, many fiddly mouse movements. For the first time in 56 years of keyboarding, I had RSI...in my right shoulder. Hands-on Feldenkrais helped, but so does this video. I have bookmarked it and will try to do it M, W, F. Love from Liz and Ginger (pic left) in Australia.

@@lizj5740 You're welcome Liz! I need to motivate myself too. I have upper back pain from my current job where I (similar to you!) need to sit in the same position for hours every day and I also need to use the computer mouse so my right hand and shoulder lean more forward than my left. Luckily there are so many good exercises that people share on TH-cam. If you search TH-cam for 'yoga stretch for shoulder pain' some good ones will pop up! Have a nice evening :)

@@lizj5740 if I'm in that "can't be bothered today mood", I tell myself: "well you can just do one stretch/exercice at least" ( I pretend I don't know what my intention really is🥺) 9 times out of ten, I end up doing the whole thing.

I had a torn labrum fixed in that shoulder as they said that was causing the issue but after having surgery and recovering the pain is exactly the same in that area.
    Any exercises would be amazing

Thank you for this video Matt! The breath practice to feel ab engagement is gold. My climbing arborist husband suffers from shoulder and neck impingement. He has been going to the chiropractor for months 2-3 days a week with little relief. I’ve encouraged him to watch your videos and he has but concerned about his neck. We’re in our 60’s so expect some disk degeneration but I believe it can be halted or even reversed with proper workouts. Is this video appropriate for someone with neck issues (no injuries) in addition to very tight shoulders? Mostly wondering about neck rolls. Thank you for educating us about our bodies and mindset Matt!💜

Hi, I have a question concerning the Neck Circles and the upright Cat Cow: are there any contraindications or risks?
I'm asking this because I've seen everything and its opposite over the years concerning Neck Circles and how we should avoid compressing cervicals (especially with head tilted back and chin high), but I don't know what the current information is on that subject (as Google also gives me everything and its opposite 😅) or whether there is a specific way or speed to do it at in order to avoid injury (?)
Thanks in advance for your help and thank you for your interesting and informative videos 🌟

I've spent the last ~20 months dealing with frozen shoulder which happened as soon as I had my first covid vaccine (I believe the placement was too high, because my shoulder and arm hurt within a couple seconds, but hearing/reading how painful it was and that it caused arm pain for days, I thought nothing of it and then believed I must've slept weird on it, until a few months went by with no real improvement)....3 steroid injections later, in two different areas (2x in the joint, and once in the muscle from the side), along with prescribed exercises, and I've had a lot of improvement, but one area keeps refusing to cooperate. I'm going to give these exercises a try and see if they can do something the exercises from my physio haven't done after over 12 months. I can say the arms straight out and rotating has really hit that area in a way the other exercises have not, so I'm hopeful this is the answer!
    Thanks for the great video!!
