- In this video I look at why the Green Team has a yellow shield In Super Smash Bros Brawl. We also look into other games like Dragon King, Super Smash bros. Smash 64 for Nintendo 64 N64, Smash Melee for Gamecube, Smash 3DS Smash Wii U Smash 4, Smash Ultimate for Nintendo Switch.

I really hate how the Smash Remix Devs added another Yellow Mario instead of simply just using his Wario alt for the Yellow Team! 😡
They might fix it but it looks like they prioritize newly added costumes. I think even Pikachu's yellow team color is the added yellow hat. No reason to hate them, when it's just- a simple color.
@@P0chuL1ver I understand
I kinda like yellow skin mario actually i know mario already have yellow skin using wario skin color but remix yellow costume little bit clean and match with yellow color if you think about it.
@@gplayer1700 you're probably right, but still.
Calm down lil bro
Watching this as a colorblind person confuses me
Is it comparable to the Plumbus bit from Rick and Morty?
this feels just like pannenkoek talking about invisible walls in mario 64 but 60x shorter
As someone familiar with paints, you might think intuitively of the primary pigment colors being red, blue, and yellow. Green in pigments is a secondary color made by combining yellow with blue, purple a secondary color made of red and blue, and orange is made of red and yellow.
However, in a videogame it makes more sense to have green as the third color because computers and TVs work by emitting light in combinations of red, blue, and green. Yellow in this setup is a secondary color made by combining green with red, magenta from combining red with blue, and cyan by combining green with blue.
If anything, it's weird that player 3's color was yellow and 4's was green instead of the other way around.
I agree
My first thought was that maybe it was to match the Super Famicom controller button colors, but no, whether you count them clockwise or counterclockwise, or in A B X Y order, the order of the colors doesn't match. Going "A, X, B, Y" makes it match, but that's like, the wrong way to look at the buttons? If you look at the controller, A & B and X & Y are sort of part of two different sets, with a grey section linking them.
Even the Wii pointer player colors don't match any of this.
I always figured they made P4 green just to troll on Luigi
Deploy the piss bubble!
lol, nice oversight on their part. the shields i would have questioned, but the blast effect color ALSO being wrong is kind of a nail in the coffin on the topic.
I can't explain it but this is the weirdest comment section i've ever seen on a video
Me neither
Thank you for telling me.
woah, this made my dyslexia go crazy. But that's such a keen oversight.
I somehow never noticed this stuff before wow that's bananas. I of course knew about the unused stuff but never put two and two together. Great video.
For me personally it feels even more odd that yellow team isn't the third team color in Ultimate, which feels to work better in Ultimate than Wii U, but I assume that is the case to not change the order from the previous titles too.
video was more intriguing than I expected
I was playing Achilles1515's Super Smash Bros Melee 20XX Hack Pack, and I noticed whatever shield color I change to the 4P side also affects Green Team players. Usually I reverse 3P and 4P's color (referencing Mickey's Speedway USA) since I prefer it this way, but it's crazy to have a yellow shield for green team.
This is the type of content we want
I mean, I want to be in the green team. I don't want to be on the yellow team. I'm glad they made it the green team.
You had me at "it's 2009".
Love the effort Snoop 💪🏼
Interesting. Much more than I was expecting.
maybe they changed yellow team to green team because pikachu is yellow in all of his costumes, id imagine that could get pretty confusing
i believe the yellow is here for character stocks to simplfy the process, instead of using custom icons for each stock it simply chromes the yellow to a different color,an example of this use is Pizza tower, each costume chroma keys out the yellow for the costumes
edit,i forgot to mention, the yellow mentioned here is an unseen sprite used in game files,ex: the yellow jiggly puff stock, the yellow tells the game what parts to chrome out and which to leave
Wouldn’t they go with red blue and green because they are the primary colors of light while yellow is secondary?
Yellow is the third primary color, not green, which makes the decision even more confusing lol
@@tcoogz1379Depends how you do it. In subtractive light (e.g. mixing paint), the primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, where mixing yellow & blue makes green (in a color printer they use magenta, yellow, and cyan instead). In additive light (e.g. pointing two colored flashlights at a paper, or, like, every computer monitor), the primary colors are red, green, and blue, where mixing red & green makes yellow.
@@snuffysam Interesting, I didn't know that's why computers use RGB. That could definitely explain the green shields then
Eh, colors are close enough. Except for the marigold blast line.
To be honest that shield color thing I guess it's just something I'd ever paid attention to. Especially since when playing brawl and before I would always just do red versus blue so I just never really bothered to notice because typically green team wasn't picked. This video seems completely inconsequential and useless but for some reason I found it enjoyable anyway
This video is incredible
Can you do what color is player 3
Wow!
Trippy videoooo
Citrus Texture
neat
Good video
I want yellow team in Melee.
were any of these issues addressed in later revisions or regions?
I've played the PAL version of Brawl. The Green Team still has yellow shields.
It's because the shield is made out of Mountain Dew, so no one can agree on whether it's green or yellow.
This video feels like im having a stroke
0:17 "the nintendle 64"
Jennifer, the colorblind intern, is sweating right now 😰
I miss smash 4 player 7 and 8 colors.
Instructions unclear, shields are still yellow 🤷🏼♂️
"Green is not a creative colour"
1:50 a yellow hwat?!
0:39 well, yellow would be a second warm colour and be lower contrast with red, which is way more nonsensical. with red blue and green you have a warm colour, a hybrid colour, and a cool colour, nice and simple. i don't like your logic. yellow is literally only there as a reference to the snes, otherwise the highest contrast option remaining would probably be like, pink, or maybe just gray or white like with dragon king
2:46 It's weird that they had a blue alt, but the alt for blue team is aqua?
Nintendle 64
I don't know if you will read this comment.. but do you know anyone I can pay to put young Zelda in smash bros 64?
Lol
0:40 If I had to guess, it's because Red, Blue, and Green are the three primary colors of light (as opposed to red, blue, and yellow, which are the primary colors of matter). This makes it easier (and thus, lazier) to program.
using a different color absolutely does not make something easier or more difficult to program
Why do you keep calling Pikachu and Yoshi "they"? They're its cuz they're not human.
"they're"
Yeah! Like babies!
What's wrong with using they though. They works fine here
What? Animals have genders
Really insightful video, great work!
