Hello and what would you say if this mass is re sacrificing Jesus like a Romanist mass.
Yes it is beautiful and timeless

    • @8elionadvancing884

ImagesByDavid Jesus told us to proclaim his death until he comes by re-enacting what he did at the last supper,,,his death was a sacrifice,,,,when Jesus sat at the table at the supper it was a fore shadow of his death but when we do it it is done after the fact. The priest stands in his place repeating what he did at the last supper. I personally dont see a problem with the Romanists attempting to describe the tradition of the liturgy as a sacrifice after the fact. Jesus told us to do it. If they believe in the real presence of Jesus in the bread and wine they are believing what Jesus said This is my body and this is my blood. They believe Jesus is present and he said he would be present wherever two or more are gathered together in his name,,,we all believe that dont we? So why do protestants make such a big deal of the Roman liturgy and attack it? The Latin liturgy is beautiful but the protestants call it blasphemy,,,,,,could it be that the actual sacrifice is a once for all sacrifice but we were told to re-enact it for a reason,,Jesus told us to proclaim his death by re-enacting what he did at the last supper ,,, like it or not it was a foreshadowing of a sacrifice and now its a reenactment of a sacrifice,,,

@@8elionadvancing884 Greetings brother. What do you think about confessional lutherans? Aside from the apostolic succession view differences, are we also around christ in the lord's supper? I feel blessed of believing in the real presence and I do believe, as you quote Jesus words "two or more are united in my name". May our Lord Jesus Christ protect you syrian brothers.

This mass took place at St. Mark's Monastery in Jerusalem belonging to the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch. The archbishop you see in this video is Mor Severios Malke Mourad. The mass is held mostly in Aramaic but some parts are in Arabic as well.

@Chrissy Margo. This is a very ancient liturgical rite; the music being sung is totally different than what one would hear in a Western Church, Catholic or Protestant (or even in Greek and Russian Orthodox Churches of today) where major and minor scales and tertian harmony are use. The scales and modes that are used here are Middle-eastern and incorporate quarter-tones. Undoubtedly the kind of singing that Jesus heard, and presumably took part in, sounded very much like this.

This is the Syriac Orthodox Church. The Syriac Orthodox Church is part of the Oriental Orthodox communion along with the Coptic, Armenian, Ethiopian, Eritriean and Malankara churches. It is not part of the Eastern Orthodox communion of Greeks, Arabs and Slavs. The church India (i.e Malankara) adopted the Syriac liturgy and you can see similar liturgy in India. In 1931 a very small group borke off from the Indian (Malankara) Syriac Church and joined with Rome; they are called Syro-Malankara.

Very beautiful rendering. It just reminds us of all the sacrifices that Jesus did to preach and set an example to this Universe. He lived what he preached. The concept of missionary exists only in Christianity (after Hinduism and Buddhism). I studied in a Christian Missionary school in India and have a great respect for that beautiful religion, which teaches us how to love others.

The similarity and use of Aramaic/Syriac in church services is another evidence of migration of Jews/early Christians to India after destruction of the second temple. These people still follow their traditions and keep their identity in India with few Hindu customs.

The Qurbana Kramam that the Marthomites use in comparison to the Holy Qurbono that Syriac Orthodox, Indian Orthodox, Thozhiyur and Syro Malankara uses is different. The Marthoma version is a revised one based on Anglican-Protestant theology. The most Syriac I've heard in a Marthoma Qurbana is "barekh'mor" and "Hoso wab'koolsuban l'olmin" and those are used sparingly. I don't know of one Marthoma achen who can read and write Syriac, like the achens in the Jacobite and Indian Orthodox Churches. Where did Jesus ever say that he didn't like the temple? I believe he drove the merchants out of the temple because of his love for it! "Zeal for Your house will consume me," and all that.

I would say, Yes. However, it is very difficult with the language barrier(I speak English). It is probable that this is Orthodox, as most churches in this part of the world are. The Icons on the other hand look western.

This video displays the presentation of the Holy Mysteries according to Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch celebrated by H.E. Mor Severius Malki Murad.
    What is Orthodoxy?
The Orthodox Church Is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman. It is not non-denominational, it's pre-denominational. It has been believed, taught, preserved, defended, and died for. It is the Faith that has established the universe. Proclaiming the Truth since 34 AD.

Arabic is the closest next of kin to Aramaic but still distinct in terms of lingo , grammar and vocabulary.
Jesus spoke Aramaic and had knowledge of the ancient hebrew since he had mastered the entire jewish bibles without a problem.
Greek and latin were quite recent in terms of languages used for prayers.
Aramaic sounds more beautiful than greek or latin. Since it is smooth , soothing and uplifting - which is similar to Arabic muslim/christian prayers.

    • @LUIS-ox1bv
      @LUIS-ox1bv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

" Aramaic sounds more beautiful then Greek or Latin." This is a subjective point of a view and based on personal perception and bias. I personally find Gregorian chant to be infintely more melodic and powerful. In terms of Latin, anyone who has heard Gabriel Faure's Requiem in Latin, or heard a rendition of Ave Maria, cannot but be moved by the sublimity of this music. This is attested by many who are not only not of European descent, but not Christians. Latin forms the root and basis of some of the worlds most audibly appealing languages. Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese, sound more pleasing to the ear then other languages. The same reason why no cities in Asia, or Africa can match cities like Paris, Venice, Rome or Vienna. Gregorian Chant, as well as Western music in general, is far more attractive in tone, texture, and depth of melodic structure. Its why most civilized countries have symphonic orchestras which are dominated by Western instruments. Watch foreign cinema from any developed country in the world and the soundtrack will most likely be composed of music produced using western instruments. When you're exposed to hearing an opera in Aramaic and feel giddy about it, let us know.
