- With all the recent speculation about Utah moving conferences, I asked Josh Furlong an important question: Has Utah actually signed the Big 12 grant of rights? It's a great discussion about the Utes and their future. Josh is the Sports Director and Utah beat writer for KSL.com.

It doesn’t matter if they signed GOR or not. If any school get an invite to P2 they are gone.
Won’t happen unless a super league forms
It was a question raised this week because of the ACC rumors. For sure they'd be gone no matter what if it's the Big Ten or SEC.
The will not get full pay. If they signed they will owe millions.
@@robertpearce4316Oh Bobby…I know you’re going to be crushed when Utah gets called up to the Super League. You’ll get through it, life goes on.
@@JohnKurtzShow
Thinking to myself…
Any school wanting to get into P2 needs to have the evaluation that after being in the conf for a few years at a reduced share that they would build their brand up enough to be worth over $80 million per year. That’s the thought process of adding UW and UO… etc…
even if UU gets a partial share for few yrs; I don’t think their brand would be worth $80 million. Just my opinion
@@richaustin5849 lol like I said on another post utah fans are worst then ou and texas.
Sec and big ten are probably done at least now. Win 2 weak pac 12 title dnt make utah the bees knees. They talk about ku and tcu. They will go before utah.
Utah is going to do what they've always done... Amazing defense, a tough running game, solid special teams and get as much as they can from their QB and TE's.
That's what they've brought to the field under Coach Whittingham for almost 20 seasons now.
If your team can beat that, you won't get any excuses from me and your team deserves the W.
Utah is built to win now. The schedule is negotiable, the players are back and I know the team is focused for a tough Big XII slate.
GO UTES!
Well said , from a Mountaineer good luck hope to see you in Arlington.
IMO UU over the next few decades is just a peer with all other B12 members. UU has had a good 20 years run with Urban and Whittingham
Just a peer? How many universities in the B12 have AAU status. The recent arrivals and Kansas if my recollection is correct. ISU lost their status. Utah has a goal of approaching 1 billion in annual research and could be there by 26' or 27'. Unlike those teams they have a good football brand currently and football drives the bus. Take your BYU wet dreams back to Cougarboard because this is literally BYU's ceiling whereas there is a chance Utah could ascend beyond this kiddie table.
It’s been more than 20 years of success for Utah and longer than KST rise; which before the 6th and 7th seasons of Bill Snyder coaching regimen, they were historically horrendous and ultra ugly at football and deserved to be sued for piss poor impersonation of a college football team similar to multiple BiG10 schools now a few ACC and maybe one SEC team but lots of G5 and FCS schools.
Utah is committed, until they aren't.
🥱
Which school isn't?
Utah is beautiful state and would love to visit. Is Mitt Romney a Utes fan?
Great interview.
Blame the media and podcasters shoving this down our throats, not Utah. Let alone that 1% of Utah fans that are the loudest on "X".
Why is this even a question? TV is not going to agree to a pro rata and full payout with a guarantee (a Big 12 grant of right).
Cam Rising is in his eighth year at u. 😂 The biggest weakness with the U is November. Utah always believes they are better than they really are. Always.
Q (as stated in the video title): Has Utah actually signed the Big 12 Grant of Rights?
A: To paraphrase, “I don’t know”. 2:00
Thanks for that. Overpromised, underdelivered. 🤦🏽♂️
Utah was a G5 for 90 years. This was a "what if" scenerio that was thrown out and people took the bait.
There was no such thing as G5 or P5 30-90 years ago
@@teeduckcome on we know what he meant
@@robertpearce4316 😄
Great point. Utah has only been a Power program for 13 years and in that short amount of time has already passed by a majority of programs who’ve had that status and far more resources for decades. Utah’s AMAZING! #America’sTeam!
@@richaustin5849 2 weak pac 12 titles.
Seriously lost to 2 g5, byu beat 5 pac 12 teams. Pac12 had 2 ranked teams. Nobig bowl wins.
Go Utes
They are as committed as any team to the big12: If one of the super 2 come calling, they are gone. Any team in the big12 would do the same.
As a BYU fan the rivalry did not matter. It just added risk to Utah in loosing a game. It was not a good idea for utah to schedule the game and risk a ranking.
Utah acts like Texas only they don’t have the money.
*they dont have the money or the talent... but they got a hell of a hc/coaching staff that develops players and culture better than most
Or Legacy.
Don’t know what you mean by your comment. But Utah’s running the B12 now…that’s all anyone needs to know!
@@cjon3006 Have you researched Kansas State, KU, ISU, OSU? They all recruit players and develop them. An example for K-State are Jordy Nelson and Ben Sinnott. Both walked on K-State and were higher draft picks in the NFL. Jordy ended up being a Superbowl MVP! Two more examples, two players that everyone said were to small to play at D1 level of football. Darren Sproles and Deuce Vaughn both lead the B12 in rushing and played/plays in the NFL. Developing players is a mainstay of the B12! Welcome to the B12!
@@big12plus Jordy was not SB MVP, that went to Rodgers. He did catch a TD in the SB tho and had a pretty impressive 5 year prime with 4 seasons of 1200+ yards and 3 seasons with 13+ TDs.
Also there is Felix Anudike Uzamah. He went from 2 star recruit to 1st rd draft pick.
Pretty sure we all agree by now that someone got trolled by this, many now talk to grift on it
I’m am so tired of Utah and they are not in the conference. They won the PAC 12 twice and lost the Rose Bowl twice to a BIG 10 team that wasn’t the champion since the champion played in playoffs. They are a good program, but they are Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan etc. Hopefully they will be a team player when they join the conference….but if they don’t want to be in the conference don’t join because I am sure WSU or OSU would be happy to take the slot.
The AD said this was a nothing burger because if they backed out now you gotta deal with exit fees. Why is anyone giving this attention?
Because Utah huffed and puffed coming into the Big 12. They didn't want to be here. The Utes created the atmosphere for this to hapepn.
@@CarlaJenkinsTV True, and now Utah’s gonna blow the house down! Utah runs the B12 now!
Please. Let them go. For chrissakes they were a friggin' meaningless WAC school for most of their existence. They're like a JUCO school who thinks they have the pedigree of Bama.
Yes. Utah fanbase stays telling us that Urban Meyer coached at both Utah and Ohio State. Um, who's going to tell them that 1) the Buckeyes have been a division I school their whole existance and 2) they've been consistently winning championships.
IF they haven’t then don’t let them in jeez
Yikes! From an outsider’s perspective (Penn St/B10 fan), these toxic comments about the best football team in your conference are crazy and will probably push Utah to leave one day. In football, they are your best chance to stay competitive/relevant nationally. Would’ve loved to have them in the B10 with the other PAC teams.
Chris if you only knew how bad the Utah fans are they think their Texas but have half the talent and half the brand
I don’t know any Utah fan who believes they’re Texas, but at least Utah fans know the difference between ‘their’ and ‘they’re’ and know how to use them in a sentence.
Academically and athletically, the Big 12 is beneath Utah. We should be in the Big 10 with similar schools. I hope it happens.
@@charliepiazza7533 like 4 schools have a brand as big Texas, so that’s not a great comparison. And perhaps some fans are annoying, but this honestly has nothing to with the strength of Utah as a program. Also, I actually enjoyed the Utah fan interactions leading up to the Penn St/Utah Rose Bowl game. They’re great!
😂😂😂toxic....sounds you came from a fatherless household raised by mommy😂😂😂
My Utes are basically a junior college. We get Big Brother BYU’s rejected students. Why do we pretend to be a good school. We’re actually the second most popular university in our own state. Anyway, Go Utes‼️
Your Utes?🤣🤣🤣 Nice try little brother. Go back to cougarboard
Utah doesn't bring much to the table. Let them go.
If utah doesnt then no big 12 school does either.
How is the big12 stable there up for sell
Utah is one strange school. Move over Texas Tech
Compare us to Utah....ewe! That's a low blow. We only like one wife at a time!
@@charlesling7919 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@charlesling7919you got Utah confused with Pagan BYU Moron Mormons. Utah has legit academics and programs; BYU doesn’t.
@@charlesling7919Bigots are going to bigot.
@@BallisticBevo Teasippers would know!
A lot of arrogance for having little more than a pair of Rose Bowl "participation trophies" 😂
As a member of the leftover 12, Utah toughest games will be against the other PAC schools. Winning the conference of misfit brands is nothing
I’m an Utah alumni. I give zero fucks about byu-provo. They are a Division 2 school compared to Utah. No one is interested in playing them. I much rather see us playing real schools like FSU and Miami.
This ^^ 100%. TSPP is our 3rd bye week of the year and the doormat of the conference.
Just read this comment. 😂😂. It tells you all you need to know about Utah.
Man, one guy floats a rumor without a source, BYU fans go nuts and spread it like wildfire, and everyone else believes it. Move on.
Dear Utah, please leave. Thank you
We will when the time is right. Until then, Utah’s running the B12!
@@richaustin5849, Utah could carry the Big XII!! tu nor OU were big enough brands to elevate themselves and the big XII and Utah clearly is 1/100000 of a brand tu and OU are.
Utah. You’re cute and in for a rude awakening. Hope you like being the most hated team in this league. Congratulations, you’re the new Texas…without the money, recruiting base, fan base, facilities, success, etc.
😂
True, they are delusional for thinking they're blue blood. They're BYUs little bastard brother.
Utah still sucks.
Then what does that say about the team down south? 5-7. Hilarious.
