I was present at that performance in Paris in December of 1999. It was a spectacular moment I whish everybody could live. FYI - Always choose live with Lara...it needs to said. "Malade" is a practically the French national anthem. No one does it better. "Broken Vow" (English - she wrote it) is going to ruin your day. "Perdere L’amore" is a powerhouse Italian classic - a masterclass level of song and performance, in perfect Italian, that you will not be able to get out of your head (effortless perfection). Her biggets hit, "Adagio", a must see as are all of the titles I have mentioned and many more, has been covered by everyone including the great Dimash, but Lara is the queen and no one does it better (It is a hundreds of years old classical song she wrote words to and resurrected. "Je T'aime" is written by Lara and now a French standard that everyone knows by heart. You are entering into Lara's world and you will not come back.
By the way, "Malade" was the year 2000 from '"Lara with Love" live concert, all on video, and a masterpiece front to back. Don't start playing it unless you have over an hour, a box of tissues and a glass, or bottle, of wine (French or Italian) :) All of her videos someone has done a version with English subtitles. Many are in English but she sings in 12 languages. Born to a Father from Belgium and a mother from Italy (Siciliy I think) and raised for a time in Canada, she speaks English, French and Italian very very fluently tho she sings in many other languages as well. Borned in Brussels, her father was belgian, her mother italian. She lived her 5 first years in Sicily and then came back in Brussels where she learned singing in the "Conservatoire Royal". Not really. I think it's the vowel production and the belting that can make people say that sometimes. The depth and colors of their voices are pretty different to my ears. Granted, Dion is not usually to my taste, whereas Fabian is the ONLY soprano who has ever hit my neural net like liquid velvet.

In fact, she is belgian born ;) and got the canadian nationality only around her twenties.
She grew up in Belgium and only moved to Canada in her early 20s. She's kind of moved back and forth ever since, but she's both Belgian and Canadian.

Lara Fabian is not french, she is belgian, like Stromae, Loïc Nottet and others, but she speaks french like more than 4 millions other belgians. Borned in Brussels, her father was belgian, her mother italian. She lived her 5 first years in Sicily and then came back in Brussels where she learned singing in the "Conservatoire Royal". In 1991 she went in Canada (where she gets also canadian nationality) until 1996 back in Belgium. It seems a detail but what woukd you say if Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson... were said english singers ?

Not really. I think it's the vowel production and the belting that can make people say that sometimes.
The depth and colors of their voices are pretty different to my ears. Granted, Dion is not usually to my taste, whereas Fabian is the ONLY soprano who has ever hit my neural net like liquid velvet.
