Haha yea I think he’s good but his design is just too much “grappler” to be top tier imo. His archetype is just really hard to win tournaments with if you don’t have a secondary.
This is the first time I've seen a tier list for season 2 put Cammy this high. I def agree her neutral is incredible and her corner carry almost rivals Ken. Was it Punk's victory at EVO that influenced this ranking? Most people say she's top 10 but this is the first time I've heard someone say she's top 3.
Thx for watching! When I did the balance patch video for her I already thought: OK, they nerfed the spin knuckles projectile invul so shes worse as an anti zoner secundairy but her overall kit got buffed, especially the hp, hk target combo being cancelable. Thats now a staple in confirms and meterless corner combos. I think she already was a top 6-8 character and now shes better with other top tiers being nerfed (luke, jp, deejay, chun). It does help seeing it at the highest level with EVO for sure. If Punk lost in top 32 like Mena for example, there would be little proof of concept. Its not everythng though, I still have Guile at 6 and nobody made top 32 with him but Im convinced he’s still strong
@@russelledwards2405 Exactly, it's like putting Zangief (before the buff) in A or S tier because we saw how good Snake Eyez was with him, it's not the character, it's actually the player, and i think this also aplies with Cammy, she only works in Punk's hands because he's a god at footsies/neutrals, otherwise she's A tier at most.
@PauloLz i placed her there because of her buffs but I agree it helps to see her win such a stacked tournament with Punk, without using side characters. It’s proof of concept. I think there will be more Cammy wins honestly but if you wanna rate her a couple of spots lower, thats also fine. Its a thin line Gief was never S tier. Hes his best right now and I still have him around 15th. The pro players from Japan put him top 5 but I dont really see that. His match up spread is per definition not great because hes a hardcore grappler, who are designed to struggle against zoners. Cammy is rush down, who are designed to struggle with grapplers but..she also has great neutral and good defense, unlike a hardcore rush down char like kimberly (who us muchhh lower on the list for me)
@iZonkGaming2021 cammy is a rush down character? How? Only 1 plus on block button. She's more of a whiff punishing character in this game. Needs Drive rush to generate any type of trap
Totally agree on Ed. I love playing neutral optimizing range. Once you get to master his flickers and snatchers it´s very enjoyable tricking the opponent with them. However, you have to use his anti-airs with more anticipation than usual and pay special attention to your rivals' patterns in oder to sence their jumps
Yup agreed bro. Hes not easy to play but the results (both evo and ww japan) paint him as a top 3 character. Not sure im going that far just yet but hes GOOD. I do think hes S tier and 7 seems a good spot for now
I actually looked at the way the game teaches you to play with him and it seems more defensive than most players and really you wanna try to control the pace of the game. Really great moves I just need to learn good combos with him
I enjoyed this list alot! I think this is a good way to do it. I agree with your take on Honda i took him to evo and i went 2-2 but there was a good number of Honda players who made it to day two but once you get put against really good players his gameplan falls apart.
That maybe so and you might be right but he was in evo top 6 TWICE and he was the most represented character in japan WW top 32, the strongest region. He has the results of a top 3 character right now..lets see how it unfolds. I also have a master Ed and I agree the AAs are a problem and so is the jab range
The issue with the jab is he lacks range on the 4 frame? Or he lacks a good 5 frame? I'm curious because fighting him I never feel like anything is missing, on pressure he punches at me like 5 times before I can press lol. I'm not diminishing the issue I just have failed to fully understand it and wanted to ask. Imo, there's things that can be issues, ie I've heard lacking a 6f medium be called an issue for characters. But that doesn't always mean it is, jp s1 had no 6f medium but it didn't matter. Maybe now it matters more. This is just a technical point tho, you may well be right.
This "inconsistent anti-air and bad jab" circlejerk always cracks me up. according to this circlejerk Ed was Z tier until pros proved them otherwise. But I see there are still people repeat the same sentence.
Not a bad tier list I'll say but I fine it hard to believe that Luke who was often characterize as 1 of the strongest characters in season 1 going into 2 is not worth considering to have a posibility to win a tournament. I mean coming out of Combo Breaker to EVO where a couple of Luke players made it into top 32 baffles me. Like I know Luke has been nerf but it wasn't that too extreme where he's still viably good and could do sizable damage that makes him fair. Hell Noah who plays Luke came in 2nd place twice in 2 different major tournaments recently which was Combo Breaker and the MIXUP lyon 2024 where he beat Leshar's Ed in losers finals.
Your Cammy combo at 3:33 could be more optimized in case you didn't know. Delay second b+HK until opponent almost touches ground, then cancel into charged H Cannon Spike into SA3.
Haha for sure. I also think run tatsu corner carry with +5 throw oki being available from a 4f cr lp is SUPER good. Nobody has either the meterless oki or that corner carry from a light, its incredible
I play jp and Ryu and I'm glad jp is finally getting dropped more in tier lists. He got noticeably weaker. And he got hit with nerfs that really feel undeserved now considering what other people have but maybe that's my bias.
They were pretty quick and severe with the nerfs yup. They took half a year longer to do the same for Luke, who was clearly just as broken and Ken+Rashid are still allowed to be great since release. To be fair, jp and luke were stronger than tge current top tiers but still…bit agressive in jp for sure
Yeah no top player picks him with Ken and Akuma being similar but slightly better. Also the only true top Ryu player (Endingwalker) got his main in Ed now, he’s never coming back. I guess it will take some nerfs to Akuma and Ken to get Ryu played (or more buffs for Ryu but I wouldnt do that, outside of his od hadoken being -2 on block, that should be +1 imo)
Yeah agreed and thats why there isnt a single, lets say, top 20 player in the world who mains ryu right now. I do think that if there were a couple, then he COULD win, I think he’s good enough, just slightly below Ken and Akuma, especially Ken
@@Jonfgc yeah shes still super good but there are other characters that are at least as good and easier (therefor less prone to errors). The level 2 nerf (no meter build during lvl 2) took her down a notch for me, that was an incredible super.
well done!!! Im a Dhalsim player, been playing him since day 1, and dont think anyone can win a tournament with him. The problem is, Dhalsim has to be played almost perfectly in order to be viable. The game mechanics just dont allow him to control space without possibly being punished for it. All of his long range buttons are between 12-19 frames which means they lose to drive rush lights and drive rush mediums, even when Dhalsims button comes out first. If Dhalsim gets perfect parried at any distance, he immediately is knocked down and guessing for his life. He has no reversals. Most useless and avoidable lvl 2 in the game. So his only real way to reversal is to risk a lvl3 or wakeup drive reversal. LITERALLY ALL of his buttons lose to opponents buttons, and they cant seem to get his teleport to face the right direction half the time. There is soo many ways to close distance in this game and especially since most of the cast have full screen specials. Honda headbutt, Cammy Spin knuckle, kimberly's teleport and full screen slides which seems damn near unreactable, Blanka ball and full screen slide into hard knockdown. Bison can approach through the air, he can slide a pretty good distance and he has psycho crusher. DJ and Juri can drive rish full screen and juri sorta has a long range dive kick. Lili has condor spire, JP outzones Dhalsim but somehow they gave him reversable lvl1 and Amnesia 🤔. The shoto's, Chun, Juri, Guile, and DJ have fireball into drive rush. Rashiid has full screen jumps and alot of mobility. My point is, when you mix all this in with Drive impact, parry, perfect parries, and drive rush, how can Dhalsim ever win a tournament?
I agree my friend, I think eventhough he has good zoning AND good mixup potential, he relies on single hits a lot. He needs to hit the opponent a lot of times. Thats fine and a good balance, but in this game every one can 2 or 3 touch into death. Its too volatile for Dhalsim to be top tier. In sfv, he was top 3 towards the end because there was vshift, vreversal, and way less neutral skipping stuff. Plus less dmg overall. Good luck with him, stick to it, he might get buffed :)
Couldnt agree more. Perfect description. Hes a zoner that cant zone. I think buffing yoga fire would help (make it closer to akuma hadoken). In my dreams, st mk hits low.
Before the big patch but after the small patches (where JP already got big nerfs) I’d say Luke, Ken, DeeJay, Chun-Li, JP. At day 1 of this game, I’d put JP at 1 and Luke at 2. Blanka was also good yesss but not top 5 before the patch

These tierlists are so irrelevant tho. Chun-Li is actually better than Cammy and Juri, it's just more difficult to play, also Luke this low? You gotta be trippin my dude, Luke even after nerfs is still a beast. Not even get me started on Ryu, he is insane, I call him the madman now 🤣
Haha agree to disagree, it speaks to the balance of the game that we can argue for days. The system mechanics equal the field (a bit too much, Id like more character emphasis)
Guile, Juri, Akuma are not S tier characters, they are A characters, JP has dropped to a C character, Blanka dropped to B, Jamie and Lily C, Don’t know why every tier list has Guile S tier, one missed flash kick or a good Jump in and he’s done, don’t remember any Guile’s in top 6 at EVO or the CEO.
Agree to disagree on the tiers but I cant dispute Guiles placement at evo, i put it in the video as well. Very surprising to me that he wasnt in top 32 at all (!). He did do well in the world warriors. Still think hes super good. Eatin a good jump in is part of the archetype ofcourse, he has great neutral and defense, half screen flash kick, chp, air throw, he can cover every angle so thats on the player imo

Shes so good right now! Its just unlikely that she is represented in finals because broski and a few Japanese players are the only good players who play her because you need so much optimization. Its easier to pick Ken or Cammy who are also super strong but easy to just hit the ground running
@@iZonkGaming2021 Yeah, you're right about the pain staking effort it takes to optimize such characters. it's just that I can really appreciate players that have the courage (and the love) to explore different multi layered characters, just like Broski and Brian-f did before with Oro.
