  • Drama on day 1! Canucks training camp opens in Penticton and Thatcher Demko speaks about his injury for the first time. Matt and Blake play you all the important clips and talk about the lack of timeline, the rare nature of his injury, and the fact he had a procedure done this summer for another injury as well. Noah Strang of The Daily Hive is on location at camp, and gives his impressions from the Demko availability, and what he has seen thus far on the ice. The Province's Patrick Johnston jumps into the fray as well, comparing this year's group to one year ago, and on Elias Pettersson's admission that his knee injury is still there, albeit manageable. All that, plus a recap of the Whitecaps result on the road in Houston!

Silovs and Demko need to split duties this year.We will see if this team is a contender this year

Price kind if ignores just how good the Canucks player development is. In 5 months they turned Zadorov from a struggling depth defenceman to what the Bruins believe is a top 4 D, Just watch what they do with Desharnias. The Canucks development coaches operate on a level that's outside S&P's field of vision

The dumping of Larscheiders kind of feels like another step towards becoming more like Toronto, where in-person fan base are just a bunch of suits except for the nose bleed section.

Good. They’re an insular clique who keep their cheap tickets for themselves and their chants are awful.

I agree with you. Hockey isn't what it used to be, but if you've got money, you like hockey being insular. For the elites. I remember people were gobsmacked at the ticket prices during the 1994 playoffs, but I think between expansion the the NHL going off their nut trying to compete with other leagues in terms of revenue, they're screwing the average fan. Hockey used to be a working class thing where you brought your family and your kids probably heard some things they'd never heard before. Hockey games should be a safe environment, but it should also be for the working person and their family to enjoy. Even if you don't like how some of the other fans are behaving, as long as it's not out of control and people who cross the line are escorted out, fine. But now it's like an American political party convention, where everyone's in their sky box representing all the major corporations. That's not what Canadian sports is supposed to be about. Canada is different. Or it's supposed to be.

Coach Foote will be the best thing to happen to Deharnais. Blake will look like an idiot( not hard to do) by the end of the year.

Silovs is our guy and have full faith in his abilities...we need to have confidence in our group. Signing another goalie shows extreme paranoia with management and to stunt the growth of our developing players. Signing Lankinen would be a bad idea especially when Demko is still with the Canucks. What we should be doing is to find a goaltender who would complement and play well with Silovs. Why would any management demote him after stepping up last year? Such bad faith and dysfunctional by their part if they do. Thumbs down...👎👎
