I was 16 in 2000. That was one of my dream cars once I got my license, but it was too expensive to get because it was brand new at the time msrp is like 16k at the time so it made me settle for the 1995 one instead, sedan style. My brother had a 98 EX. Terrific car, despite its mushy 5-speed gearbox. Toward the end the trunk started filling with water when it rained. Dealer's solution was just to drill a hole in the lowest place in the trunk. It worked!
My high school girlfriend's car was a 1996 Civic DX hatchback. It had the wheels from the EX (and I'm surprised this has steelies and hubcaps instead of alloy wheels) and the teenager who briefly owned it before her had tried and failed to replace the radio, so it stuck out a little bit from the dash. All that said, it never let her down. We drove it from Fort Myers to Kansas City and back. She even got in a wreck with it when someone made a left turn in front of her, and she was unscathed. Sure, it felt a little like a wind-up toy when you floored it trying to get on the interstate, but it would cruise along at 90 in the HOV lane through Atlanta -- not that I would know anything about that, of course.

The family car i grew up with was very close to this, a dark green 99 civic LX Sedan. I loved that car but sadly i never got the chance to drive it as it got stolen right before i had started drivers training.😭 i have alot of memories in that car tho, the rear passeneger window was covered in those old in-n-out stickers, and the paint had all those white splotches from years of sitting in the sun. I also had ripped off the "civic" emblem from the trunk, which i still have to this day, and is like such an important object even though its just a piece of plastic. Aghhh Thank you for reminding me of that car! ❤

Last of the “golden era” Civics, don’t really care for the one that followed this. Another nostalgic thing of these era Hondas is the “hiccup” starter noise.
Remember when this was the car for every 3rd friend and 8th person I could remember under 25 in the early 2000’s. Was proud to not have any funky colors, lights, rims, stickers, exhaust on mine. Actually all I could afford was a chrome intake.
Early 00s Hondas, particularly unmodified ones in good shape, are a rare sight. These were cheap cars and most got riced out and driven into the ground. They're not fast, they're not fancy, the suspension and exhaust tend to break, but the engines and bodies last forever. I don't think I've ever seen a rusty Honda. My 11th grade math teacher had a blue one with a stick. I remember him being surprised that I when I told him that my manual car doesn't have a tachometer. I was so used to shifting by ear that I didn't see how he would need a gauge to tell him when to shift. Everything is known to the state of California to cause cancer. The other 49 states don't know anything, apparently.
The end of your final thoughts had me getting emotional. My mom had this same Civic but as a Sedan in gold. She had purchased it before I was born and I practically grew up in it’s back seat until she crashed it in an attempt to avoid being hit by someone who ran a red light at an intersection in 2012. That shut up and listen part really took me back in time to the early 2000/10’s going to school and traveling all over the place in it.
I have a silver 2000 Civic EX Coupe that I bought new. I'll never sell it(I get offers every week). I love the 5 speed & the way it handles.BTW,I've never had an oil burning problem

Loved this vid. I remember when these were new on dealer lots. I had just started my low end manager career and the (ex) wife and I went and test drove one of these. We ended up just over a year later with a new Cavalier LS coupe. But that was more of a "we got a smoking deal on the Chevy" than what we WANTED. LOL Now days some 23 years later, heck I would still love to have one in the exact condition of that one! Only in white. ;-) Great vid dude!
I remember shopping for one of these with an ex. The EX was model of choice, with a stick. 2nd best car I've owned and I don't plan on selling even when I get something newer. It's fun and doesn't really feel cheap. This car has taught me how to heel-toe downshift, and the handling despite the comfortable stock suspension is about as nimble as I want on the road. Give these old D series a tuneup and they get their vtec voice back, and acceleration is fun in 2nd gear. The powerband is surprisingly flexible for 1.6. 30mpg in town! I have a 99 Civic EX I'm the second owner it has 93,000 miles car looks brand new. Beautiful Milano red coupe Manual . I got lucky and bought it from a guy in Kentucky for $5500. I have a feeling it's worth more than that but it's just such a wonderful car to drive it literally just feels like a time capsule because it's like brand new and it drives just like new. But it's very stressful to drive and worry about scratches and stuff because it's such a beautiful car. I'm used to beaters that I don't care about lol. So this car can be very stressful to drive.
Had a couple of these a 2 door and 4 door hx. Liked the cars of that time and our accord coupe. Brother had a Legend coupe automatic and thought it fast for what they were. Best sleep and shifter I ever had was the Accord coupe. Better shifter than expensive sports I drove around even Porsche's.
I been in multiple of these civics and these are perfect for a 1st car but the main problem with these cars vs even slightly more modern cars is like you mentioned multiple times in the video is the crash protection, these by modern standards have terrible crash protection, i have a busy intersection around the corner from where i live, it was literally a civic from this generation vs a like 2016 year Corolla, the civic blew the red light and hit the corolla at a almost t-bone angle, driver of civic per police was about 35mph and hit the corolla on the driver side door, the civic was completely destroyed in the front and somehow the roof collapsed on the passenger side and the driver died on scene, the Corolla driver walked away with minor injury, how far we come in safety
LOL, I'm so old I thought you were reminiscing about Pantera. Yeah I still use Pandora, I have no idea how Spotify works, it confuses me. I shake my fist at that cloud! this Honda is just perfect!! ok realistically the transmission shifting and the engine eating oil worries me.. but yeah I personally believe that the safest car to drive is something with a low dashboard, and small pillars so you can see everything around you, something small and light enough that braking and steering to avoid something is actually a possibility. somewhere in my dreams I'd just like to be living in a suburb driving a civic like this.
Man I hope you drive my generation of Civic EX coupe I have the generation before this the 1995 Honda Civic EX coupe 5speed manual!! 92 to 95 body style!! And...... My first one was in 99 Civic like the one in the video but the SI model my current Honda that I've had for almost two decades my 95 Civic Coupe IS NOW A FULLY BUILT TRACK CAR!!!! With the D16 Z6 single cam VTEC engine but it is fully built naturally aspirated all motor high compression high comp Pistons speedfactory rods Ferrara flat faced high comp valves stage 3 cam skunk2 intake manifold and skink 2 70mm throttle body The list goes on.... Pushing almost 200 hp at the wheels every piece of suspension you can think of nothing but 2 racing seats and a roll cage!
My parents had a 2011 Honda Civic sedan in white briefly and I thought it handled and drove great when I drove it myself the few times I did. I never drove this era or iteration of the Civic but I felt like I have seen one on the roads at least 1 million times cumulatively. I love the simply clean look of these cars and that is represented with their driving and handling style too... no fuss.. just simple and pure driving. My mom did not like the 2011 Honda Civic they had, and traded it for a red Nissan Versa hatchback, which for some reason she liked better, and I did not.
I'm inclined to save something like this (with a 5 speed though) and leave my 90k mile RSX Type S as a bit of a garage queen. Run it every once in a while, but being a survivor, save it for posterity too.
Bro, I am a native Spanish speaker and you sound to me so easy to understand, I do no know why but you do. Have you ever thought about teaching English? If I were you a would think about it. Great video by the way !!!
A friend of mine has a 2001, the next gen, EM2 Coupe, is definitely a more mature car and better quality in general, but at the same time is boring to drive.
I still do them but only on cars where acceleration really matters. Speed wasn’t the point of this 2000 civic. But the car in tomorrow’s video, it does!
If that came with the car, I'm surprised it has the cd player. Unless it's because it is the EX option. The 2000 Camry my family had came with a cassette player. Nice cars of course.. Maybe a decade ago, a friend (who always reminds me his family is loaded) got a Volvo with a cassette player. So it was fun trolling him by finding an audio cassette from my parents basement to sneak into the player when he wasn't looking.. which surprisingly the music blended well enough into the background as we drove.

Civic is still a great vehicle. The biggest revelation is how much bigger current Civic is. It almost makes Accord irrelevant.
Technology has gone far sometimes I bet no cars are this reliable or simple anymore
I bought this car off Kegan. I promise to keep it original and take care of it. 😊
Sometimes the PCV gets stuck and can lead to oil consumption. Replacing can reduce the oil consumption quite a bit. It's worth a try.
Had a 98 EX 5 speed coupe. Great car, I really do miss it
So did I. Bought new. Milano Red. But my 2018 LX coupe 6 speed is so much better!
With the D16 Z6 single cam VTEC engine but it is fully built naturally aspirated all motor high compression high comp Pistons speedfactory rods Ferrara flat faced high comp valves stage 3 cam skunk2 intake manifold and skink 2 70mm throttle body
The list goes on.... Pushing almost 200 hp at the wheels every piece of suspension you can think of nothing but 2 racing seats and a roll cage!
If it’s not sold by the time I get paid next week. I’m hoping to buy one of these.
My sisters girlfriend owns this exact car but in a manual, it’s nice to learn about it!
I would really love to have this car. I hate modern cars.
At one time I knew 5 people who had one of those.
I got my drivers license in one of these. This thing brought back a lot memories
Macaroni styling explains Zack’s body type
I still use Pandora because I’m too cheap for Spotify Zack. 😂
still have my 98 civic lx sedan... 72000 miles..
I have a 00 civic coupe aswell … man I love this car . I’ll never sell mine lol
Nobody:
90’s Honda CD Player: ERR
Sorry, but EK is the peak of human automobiles.
A friend of mine has a 2001, the next gen, EM2 Coupe, is definitely a more mature car and better quality in general, but at the same time is boring to drive.
Very common car? Sure
A well kept Civic with no damage, all original, and with very low miles? Diamond in the rough.
Please do a review on the 1986 Honda Accord LX (Taupe Color). If you’ve already done one please send me the link.
Only if I had the money and space to buy one of these as a fun project… this or a dc2 integra
One question for civic lovers, Does the 2000 civic have an ABS system?? I need help since I own one but my wheel bearings went out (x.x)
Honestly I miss cloth seats ... Most modern(post 2005) cars seem to come with leather or some bs leather alternative.
In canada this was the si. Prefered the previous gen
Luv Hondas are slickkkk
Man this car must have lived In a good part of California to not be stolen! Lol 😂 I wish civics still looked like this!
This gives me Need for Speed Underground 2 vibes.
what kind of camera is that in the montage you made?
Oh yeah all that amazing music- i swear to god the entire year of 2003 they played the same ten songs on the radio
I still can't enjoy lateralis
See, stock radios can be good sometimes...
U should bring back the acceleration tests
I still do them but only on cars where acceleration really matters. Speed wasn’t the point of this 2000 civic. But the car in tomorrow’s video, it does!
I just got a 97 in white dropping a K24
This was my college car, I absolutely loved it until the trans started slipping
Is this Honda Civic for sale by any chance?
Hey, Zack do you happen to have a discord server? I would love to join
The one to have is the model before this. The coupe was like a FWD BMW.
A CD player is believable if it's an EX. Our 01 'Odyssey EX has a CD player. LX models did not.
My 98 ex has a CD player
Fancy 😊
