I love how humble the boys are. Even though they had issues with the hill, they got out of it and went to camp for the a beer and underpants change. Good on ya!
What an awesome episode! Doesn't matter what you drive. It really doesn't. As long as you have responsible fun and do it safely. That's all that matters. Loved Torbs' Cruiser with the canopy off and that Defender too! Awesome.
Big Thanks Ronny....I started with your videos when you guys drove with your dad in the jeep so i think pretty early days....so now i own a nissan wd21 for family tours, i restored it an kittet it out mostly diy. But was it worth it? yeah dude im having my best years now. its so awesome to get out with my nice.san!= ) i know its not a super epic offroader but yeah...it was cheap and has part time with lsd in the back, pretty easy to fix...so i drink i beer to you....your videos made my lazy butt get out there and completely changed erverything for me!! you built what i think the best and most true, funny and informative 4x4 youtube channel out there and im proud the be on it from pretty much the beginning! cheers from austria!!!
Great video. I’ve always wanted to build 100” Defender. I can’t help it, I just love Land Rovers. Even with the breakdowns they’re just great fun. The most memorable trips are where things don’t go as planned anyway.
Great clip Ronny and thanks for sharing. Funny how many “experts” have their opinion on what the vehicles ( especially the Defender ) should’ve, would’ve and could’ve driven etc ... Mate, you’re out driving the tracks and enjoying the great Aussie bush with some mates and that’s all that matters. Jealous haters will remain just that, jealous haters. Keep up the good work mate 😉👍
I think this Land Rover in that rut is the best explanation for why you really should be driving an auto or actually anything with torque converter (there are manuals with torque converters on some Hino trucks and airport servicing version of Unimog). Great fun!
As Ronny says sometimes you end up in a worse scenario if you stop - which what look like happened at the start when the 100 rolled back in the hole. Trust ya spotters. Awesome vid guys, great to watch. Good to see yas havin fun🤘🤘
Great episode, shows that you several things, you can wheel with a basic setup, the power of lockers, the benefit of stopping and assessing, the reward of giving it a crack, you don't need to treat it like a race track or drag strip. I wonder how Torb's would of gone with a bit more weight over the rear
Always fun to push it a bit and tackle some of the tough stuff. Great to see you all doing so responsibly and not just going full noise ripping up the tracks as you go. Also, Little Bear looks pretty sweet without the Canopy.
What a way to show off your suspension articulation by the Landrover even if it didn't quite drive it and it cost a pair of undies that was a brave attempt.
Just a thought - 9:40 - I would say it looks like Torbs had a problem with too little weight here. Or rather, a weight distribution problem. It doesn`t matter if you have 4wd if the wheels with the grip has no weight on them. Funny thing about offroading is that seemingly similar cars performancewise, could do better or worse only because a little difference in axle or wheel spacing. If both axles hit a low spot at the same time, you could be really screwed. Next guy with 15cm longer or shorter axle distance could do just fine. I love this video, you`re all such competent offroad drivers with awesome rigs. Thanks for sharing this, and all your tips along the way. I have no respect for people who leave their trash in the bush, and I thank you for pointing it out and making a statement out of cleaning some of it up. If we all could adopt this thought, the world would be a better place.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy it’s a totally bespoke vehicle. It’s actually a RRC with custom body, suspension, Toyota engine and Toyota gearbox, probably the reason it’s gearing is way to high.
3:19 This happened to me today! :)) I was going up a slippery hill (mud, loose clay and rocks), which had like 3 big steps to it (3 big inclines, followed by a small flat section). Since I didn't want to damage the undercarriage (I have factory bash plates, but no lift.), I stopped the car for a second while going up, and then problems started! It took me around 30 minutes, and few mms of my tyres(!) to go up about 10 meters with rear-diff-lock and traction control engaged! I think at the end, what did the job was dropping my tyre pressure (all terrain) to 15psi.
Please take Harry's Prado out on one of these trips !!! there arent enough videos of Harry doing something with his car other than cooking (which is cool as well)
`Ronny, A very enjoyable video. Much like the type of off-roading I do. However, when recovering the LR you guys where pushing and pulling the LR which I believe is a dangerous way to behave around a tippy vehicle. You have made an important point about safety when winching and with tow lines, staying clear, using a weighted bag, etc. yet hanging all over a stuck vehicle can also be very dangerous. Twice the LR looked like it might tip over and you scampered out of the way. If you had slipped or tripped and the vehicle had rolled over it could easily have rolled on top of you.. I believe that one should use a rope or line attached to the bogged vehicle standing well away from the truck so that if it did roll, or one of those trying to help fell they would be clear and safe. Just as showing people standing close to a winch line under tension sets a bad example and is a bad idea I believe that crawling all over a unstable vehicle also sets a bad example and is unsafe and very unwise. Just my 2 cents but maybe something to consider.
Great vid mate, Loved it. Don’t mean to be “that guy” but on a side note treps love low, LOW pressure so don’t be shy to dump a heap of air out of them.
If toyota could put the leaf springs up the differential rather then underneath it, this is a weak point for 79 series, the vehicle gets hung up of leaf springs, few minor tweaks by toyota will make this vehicle unstoppable with diff corrections in the rear
Hey Ronny, where did you get the armrest organizer on the driver window? I think you said where in one of the videos, I've watched them over again and can't seem to find it.
I think you should chop the the 62 and get it done at dmw that way best of both worlds but i would be sick to have the ram but capability off road would suck is where it kills it for me but differently think for you guys touring aus would be a great upgrade
Hi Ronny, I wanted to ask your opinion, if I may, as to why is it that the US/Canada overland and 4 x 4 community is mainly, overwhelmly Jeep orientated while in Australia its very very much Toyota/Nissan orientated? maybe you can make an episode about the visible difference between Australia and North America in the type of cars we use and the culture of 4 x4

That Defender could have made that hill ... with the right driver!! These tracks are not that bad if you have proper clearance and decent tires. Too much talking and not enough driving. Stick with touring, guys!
Appreciate the audio in this one. The rigs sounded amazing for a TH-cam video.
Not a fan of the boppy music though.
Great to see Torb and Luke out too. That little Defender is so satisfying to watch for me being old school at heart.
How good!
This takes me back to your early stuff the main reason I started watching its good to see you back doing this kind of 4wding

The irony that it was the Toyota parts on the Landrover that failed..... Mind blowing

Great to see a decent truck for a change hehe Im a bit sus of the Toyota spotting lol
I was waiting for a video like this. It been a long time. I love this.
Awesome, keep rolling

Awesome adventure!
Landy all the way. Love it
Props for sharing the process. With a bit more experience in picking lines and energy management you’ll sail up that incline hole.

Y'all should do a video tackling Bob's Hill, would be nice n entertaining
