Hey Jake! I am loving the 162mm too, I’ve heard they may be big improvements coming soon hopefully! Your shots are gorgeous here. I bet if you ran them them Topaz video enhance AI they would be even better! Also just an FYI about what you said about the aperture equivalence of the top camera to Full frame being f/26. Yes, you can totally convert the aperture to what that would be but all you are doing is equating physical size of the aperture. All you are doing there is saying that on a full frame camera at 162mm, to get the identical depth of field to what you get with the top camera is to be at the same distance and stop down to F/22. This has no real connection to low light performance because I am sure you know that if you were at f22 on a full frame at iso 100 wouldn’t see much! Think about the tiny size of this sensor. Yes, it’s stated F/4.4 isn’t letting in the most light but the size of that aperture in relation to the sensor is key. A full frame F2.8 aperture would be big enough to cover about 6 of those 1/2 sensors! It’s all relative. To get a realistic equivalence you need to know about the sensors performance and do calculations based on that, the sensor size AND the aperture. To see what I mean, take a photo with the main camera and the top camera in auto. Then look at the exif data. You will need to do some shutter speed and aperture calculations but you will see that the actual difference in exposure is more like 3 stops between them. This is why I wish manufactures would make NDs with two different strengths in then for each camera. Have an ND 64 or 128 on will make using the top camera horrendous. Avoid variable nds too for that camera as none are of high enough quality for that focal length. The biggest downside to that camera is not the sensor or the processing but the soft/ cheap lens these used. Anyway I hope I have blathered on too much!🙂
"This is why I wish manufactures would make NDs with two different strengths in then for each" Phillip that's what I was thinking...would be super useful as I would mainly use the full lens and then switch the I see a good parallax opportunity

Hey Philip. Could you not just push out the top filter in the DJI ND’s and have it clear . Would be better no filter on this zoom camera I would imagine ?
Great video Jake as always. The dji product manager says on official Chinese forum that they will add more settings and controls to this camera in both photo and video mode via software update by the end of Q3. In addition to that, they plan to implement a dedicated waypoint function further along the way as well. The FLY app is currently undergoing a complete overhaul. It may take sometime to code and test different functions though. We just have to wait and see the full potential of this drone. Hopefully it will become more potent and fun to use at the end of this year. Cheers.

I was just about to buy the Polarpro VND set and that’s why I wanted a clear statement from them. I don’t want to have to buy both because of upcoming malfunctions 🤔
Great video Jake! Your shots are so steady even with 7x zoom and thats more hard if you think how cold is in Alaska so WELL DONE! I really like the telephoto camera on my Mavic 3 !😁
Amazing video and ensuring now that I bought in the Mavic 3. I've been testing the 1.5X and 7x it looks promising, I just wish they implement RAW files for stills at least up to 2X with the main camera and 7X. Also for video, D-Log at 7X. That would make me really happy!
What a great video. I just bought the Drone and was wishing it didn’t have the x7 lens and been a bit cheaper. Now I’m thinking of all the cool shots you can get, thanks to you 👍🏼
The zoom camera is pretty amazing actually. I just got back from Iceland with the Mavic 3 and got some crazy good parallax shots with it. But, I returned the drone yesterday. It's just not done yet... and for $3000, I don't have the patience to wait for what I consider necessary features; zebras in d-log, histogram that's not affected by color display assist, among other quirks of the app/drone. I'll hold onto my Mavic 2 Pro and Fly 4 apps and maybe see if DJI finally re-releases this drone with a proper controller as the 'Mavic 3 Pro'.
Very nice video. But I have to say: Those guys on the glacier are in great danger. One slip, and they can disappear in one of the several holes in the ice. Not visible because cover of snow. I know, I am from Norway:)
Anyone doing anything on glaciers needs to have a lot of experience or go with guides who have a lot of experience. Both of us (me and my friend in this video) have decades of experience with this and so we were safe and took many precautions to be safe for this video. At no point would either one of us have walked on snow on the glacier because as you correctly point out it isn't safe as you don't know what's under the snow. Cheers from Alaska. I hope someday to come visit Norway. You have some spectacular places to film there!
@@JakeSloan Yes, we have som great places. What is special in Norway is that you can reach these places right outside the houses. Some cities are in the middle of it.

Very NICE ! Jake. That is something to be very proud of. There is another Mavic 3 video done by Stefan Forster titled Iceland if your interested. That Mavic 3 is such an amazing drone. Is this the Cine Version or standard M3? Again.....well done........👍
For 2023 the FAA wants everyone to have their drone operate with Remote ID. Do you know if that's included or do you think there will be installable software for it or do you think something else? I'm a bit worried that my Mavic 3 may not be able to comply. I got my 3 a few weeks ago and I don't want my investment to go to waste.
It’s merely a matter of a firmware update for most drones made in the last couple years. They already made them remote id compliant for Japans regulations with a firmware update
Interesting that the variable ND filters wouldn't focus. Great info about using manual focus after getting the focus right with autofocus. Was your talking head shot from the Mavic 3 while it was flying or sitting on a rock or something? Way to find the strengths of that camera and use it to your advantage, rather than discount it due to its weaknesses. Very cool, Jake. 👊

I am still not sure if it’s a good idea to purchase a VND filter if I want to use it without any restrictions together with the tele lens or if I should rather go for the original fixed DJI ND filters and accept the disadvantage of switching filters due to light conditions. I don’t want to have to buy both because of upcoming malfunctions 🤔
Is this video made with the mavic 3 or mavic 3 cine?
mavic 3 not the cine version
Very inspiring 💚
Thanks
Great video Jake! Your shots are so steady even with 7x zoom and thats more hard if you think how cold is in Alaska so WELL DONE! I really like the telephoto camera on my Mavic 3 !😁
Thank you very much! I was surprised at how steady this camera is even in high winds or very fast movements!
Great video Jake and really stunning shots.
Thanks!
Amazing video and ensuring now that I bought in the Mavic 3. I've been testing the 1.5X and 7x it looks promising, I just wish they implement RAW files for stills at least up to 2X with the main camera and 7X. Also for video, D-Log at 7X. That would make me really happy!
Agreed!!
What glacier are you on??
Knik
Problem is, you can't use the circle quickshot with the 7x camera.
True
wow where is this shot? absolutely beautiful.
This was shot on knik glacier Alaska
Impressed Jake 👍 I've an Air 2 which always does me well , enjoyed your film 👍👍 Glyn 🇬🇧
Awesome cheers.
What a great video. I just bought the Drone and was wishing it didn’t have the x7 lens and been a bit cheaper. Now I’m thinking of all the cool shots you can get, thanks to you 👍🏼
Thanks!
Woahhh that was quite the trippy visual, it really shows a great contrast between the size and scale of nature. Beautiful camera work!
Thank you
Thank You for all of your videos that you did.
You’re welcome
The zoom camera is pretty amazing actually. I just got back from Iceland with the Mavic 3 and got some crazy good parallax shots with it. But, I returned the drone yesterday. It's just not done yet... and for $3000, I don't have the patience to wait for what I consider necessary features; zebras in d-log, histogram that's not affected by color display assist, among other quirks of the app/drone. I'll hold onto my Mavic 2 Pro and Fly 4 apps and maybe see if DJI finally re-releases this drone with a proper controller as the 'Mavic 3 Pro'.
Yeah still needs some work
Been wanting this on the Air 2S for years.
oh man that would be awesome
Amazing vid Jake 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks Bro!!
Incredible Jake! The parallax effect is great to give scenes more depth and movement
Thank you sir!!
that parallax is super cool looking.
Agreed
Wonderful video Jake, You are the best.
Thanks Nick
amazing! waiting for your review of the mini 3 pro :D
It’s coming!
Marvellous and fantastic shot of mavic 3
Thank you
Jake holy cow was this amazing to watch, that parallax effect is nuts! This really is the drone that keeps on giving 😂 once DJI can figure out this GPS issue I think I might have to get one! I’ve gotta get back into flying…
I loved this video thank you for creating it, it’s super helpful to see the things this drone is capable of in the hands of pro user.
Thanks Robert!
Incredible shots on a telephoto lens!!!
Ty!
Nice video.....gorgeous scenery.
Thank uou
love it...yes it is....
Thanks James!!
Wow... Amazing video Jake as always!!!
I'm really impressive with you fantastic work with the Mavic 3, thank for sharing your knowledge and experience using this drone to get a amazing motion blur effects or parallax effects too.
Great job, simply amazing videos!!! 👌👏👏🤚
My pleasure!
Very NICE ! Jake. That is something to be very proud of. There is another Mavic 3 video done by Stefan Forster titled Iceland if your interested. That Mavic 3 is such an amazing drone. Is this the Cine Version or standard M3? Again.....well done........👍
I’ll have to check that out. This was all filmed with a regular version
Really helpful, thanks Jake.
Thanks
For 2023 the FAA wants everyone to have their drone operate with Remote ID. Do you know if that's included or do you think there will be installable software for it or do you think something else? I'm a bit worried that my Mavic 3 may not be able to comply. I got my 3 a few weeks ago and I don't want my investment to go to waste.
It’s merely a matter of a firmware update for most drones made in the last couple years. They already made them remote id compliant for Japans regulations with a firmware update
Spectacular stuff, as always!
Thank you
Thank you
Still jealous of such an epic location... awesome footage there man!
Thanks Paul!
Awesome footage buddy 👏 👍 👌
Thanks!
My talking head shot was from the mavic 3 sitting on the glacier ice lol.
@@JakeSloan Ha ha nice!
now thats the feature ive seen to date that looks so good thanks for sharing that with us jake 😁👍👌 🇬🇧
Thanks!
Nice video😁 , liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing ‼️
Thanks!
You live in such an amazing place Jake. I haven’t had a desire to buy the Mavic 3 until now. Haha
Great video as always sir.
Thank you sir!
Great Video, Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
I just love this drone! DJI Mavic 3 Pro is PRO! Amazing video!
It really is!
It's a very good drone, u r right, but: way to expensive for the 'average user'.
Agreed
Sweet love it great job bro air2 s army out
Thanks Mike!!
wow! awesome stuff man.
Thanks
Sweet - Nice Job!
Thank you!
Great parallax examples, thanks!
Thank you
Jake, I simply love your videos and this is no exception. im thinking about selling my Air 2S to get the Mavic 3. I don't need it but I really want it!! ;)
Thank you so much! I totally understand your struggle too. I finally sold my Air 2s after realizing I wasn’t going to use it again after working with the mavic 3 lol
@@JakeSloan HeyJake, thanks for the reply! So I just bought the Mini 3 Pro (like just this past weekend) and I love it. Now thinking I really want the Mavic 3 (I REALLY miss my Mavic 2 Pro!) and the Mini3 to complete my big drone/little drone lineup and selling my S2. I'm not a pro, just do it for fun and personal content creation. Any thoughts on this from you would be appreciated!
That’s my setup currently. Mini 3 for fun and hiking trips and mavic 3 for work or special stuff I want to capture really well. It’s a great combo
@@JakeSloan thanks Jake. Keep up the great work!
Amazing shots🤟
Thank you
Excellente vidéo ! Merci
Thanks
Well, you filmed in a badass place already ahah, yes the Mavic 3 is a beast, but wherever is that you filmed this, even with a normal DJI mini 3 pro or air 2s would have been bomb.
Where is this, Patagonia?
9:03 is beautiful.
lol most of this was filmed in Alaska, but actually I did a TON of work in the 48 states for various shows commercial shoots and companies that I used the drone for as well, Im just not able to share the footage as it's not mine to share
Great and onest vid!
Thanks
Such a cool video.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for a great tip.
You’re welcome
Incredible!
Thanks
