I dig the Robertson screws holding the tuning machines in place!

A holey Gretsch? Perhaps that's why they are so popular in Worship music! Always great to see a re-born guitar - even more so if it's a Gretsch.

Wow, that was a lot of holes! The guitar came out well, and sounds good. I think the Bridge needs to be slid over a little towards the bass side, as the high E looks like it's running off the fretboard on the higher frets. There appears to be extra space on the bass side of the fretboard, so that should be easy to do.

Ok. So that was a lady's guitar. She gussied it up a bit for her tastes and also tried to swap it over to lefty, as you surmise. She swapped out the trem and put a string butler on it because she had some tuning issues, I've had a slight bit with mine as well (5120). I've had a number of Gretsches, all with Bigsbys or repros, and only had the same problems with that one. I tracked it to the tuners, swapped those for locking tuners and haven't really had much trouble since. Not a super hard one, though moving that output jack back is gonna suck a bit.

Correction, more holes than I realized at first. That sucks.

Upper strap button still on the treble side . . was there a reason?

...I totally missed that. I will switch that over and fill yet another hole

Would have been nice if hou had leveled the plug repairs with the rest of the finish.

On a higher end guitar I would have but the labour vs cost on this one didn't make sense

All that metal screwed on has potential to rattle like a 1981 Delta 88

Why anyone would "over personalize" a guitar and then get rid of it is beyond my reasoning.

Because they were embarrassed by what they'd done to it most likely.

They figured out that the "custom" pieces still wouldn't make it play itself.

I would have! However, I didn't quite have the right colour. Lol. I had to mix up some stain
