This is adorable! You’ve inspired me to up cycle my old shirts and use as lining in my jeans purses. I have six apple boxes filled with old jeans. I’ve made several jeans quilts, and have reupholstered a stroller and a chair with jeans. But I want o try making bags now! Thanks and I’ve subscribed.

I've made 2 of these so far!! The first things I've ever sewn with a sewing machine!!
They both turned out really good. Although I don't know much about sewing machines, and I realized after making them that there is a thing called "denim needles".
I definitely need one because this material is HARD to sew through with a regular needle. 🥴🥴🥴
Hi Mrs. A! Yes please get the needles for denim fabric. I usually use size 100/16. Great to hear you tried this project and that you like the outcome! Congratulations and thank you so much!! 😊💕🤗❤️
If it's really tough to get over those folds you can use something called a Jean-a-ma-jig it provides a barrier between the thick seams and your presser foot and helps flatten down the thick parts. Be sure to hand crank when necessary. I like to use mine whenever I have to sew seams on many layers of fabric not just Jean's. It's really worth it I think they aren't expensive.

Just completed a lap quilt from denim….squares were 6x6 sewn together and top stitched. Used 4 layers of cotton batting, 1 layer of cotton fabric for the bottom. Denim needle quilted thru all those layers with no problem. I did hand sew the binding to the back of the quilt.

There's a free pattern for a similiar bag, and it's called the fat quarter bag. It'll eliminate you having to cut the corners. Also, you can sew the handle to the sides of the bag, before sewing the inside to it. I have made a bunch of bags out of old jeans, but never thought to put the pocket on the insider or use the button part. Thanks for the tutorial. The bag is so cute!
