- To describe David Seaman as football royalty, would be an understatement. During his time at Arsenal he won 4 FA Cups, 3 League Titles, 1 European Cup Winners Cup & 1 League Cup as well as winning 75 caps for England which saw him between the sticks for 2 World Cups and 2 European Championships. David also made 34 appearances in the Champions League as well as spending time at multiple English clubs including current Premier League champions Manchester City.

Never seen a more genuine man in football than Seaman. Just looks and sounds like the type of lovely bloke you bump into on holiday in Spain and end up having a few beers with, chatting about life. Top notch.

Tell you what I liked about Dave Seaman....his ability to command his area. He'd come and catch the ball. That's a lost art today. People forget that even though Nayim scored against us, Seaman got Arsenal to the final with his saves against Sampdoria, particularly Lombardo. Seaman was class on peno's.

Pat Jennings was a great goal keeper for us too,arsenal always had great keepers to be honest.
There's only two goalkeeper's I'd like to go to the pub with and both played for Arsenal. Seaman because he seems like a really great guy. Could talk to him for ages. Lehmann if it kicks off.😅

Every one always tend to think people who dont live up to their potential had more potential than they actually had. Henry was the best in the world for 2 or 3 years. Anelka had a long way to go. Its a bit like martial or dembele compared to mbappe.

I agree. I think Dave means Anelka was more skilful. However, for one reason or another his career didn’t pan out as expected. If he’d managed to translate his skill into a career he’d have been up there with Brazilian Ronaldo. That’s how skilful he was.

I remember 2002 v Brazil. Apart from the Owen goal which came from a Lucio mistake, England didn’t really make any other clear cut chances after that. Got outplayed and remember Beckham jumping out of a tackle before their equaliser to protect his foot. Same old England ex players always remembering one moment that lost the game and not the rest of it.
1996 Euro England team was better. But to be fair should have lost in the QF because Spain’s goal ruled out for offside was not offside.

Being better than someone at 17 means nothing if you after 3 season your career was under threat Henry was miles better than Anelka who mostly was a pace merchant Henry could cross pass better take free kicks unselfish and could play anywhere along the front line anelka was pure pace and didn't do nothing in European football at arsenal in 97/98 Henry was busy destroying players on the wing at Monaco I remember his destroying Newcastle United in 97 & with in 2 seasons no 1 was saying anelka was the better player after he flopped at real Madrid
