It was a clear red. Needs to be. However, I’d make a red offence a send-off and the offending team cannot put a replacement player on for the next 25 mins. Thereon, they go back to 15. The sent-off individual can’t return, however, and suffers a ban. The offending team also lose a substitute. This would be better for the game. Although, this game didn’t suffer for the send-off. However, Bath would have probably won it, under my suggestion. On the day, they deserved it. Congratulations though to CL. A good man and great player. Very happy for him and the Saints.
"Although, this game didn’t suffer for the send-off. " Of course it did. Just 'cos the scores were close, doesn't mean the outcome likelihoods were. Never felt Bath would really finish the 80 on top.
@@hedonaut But given the head injuries why is the attack allowed to lower his shoulder into the defender? It creates so many of the head on head collisions.
I don't know what your definition is but both players were barely hinged. Obano is the one who has the responsibility to hinge enough. Even if Augustus had been bolt upright, Obano would have been high. It was a clear cut red and might even have been 20 years ago. The only difference is, refs are being more consistent with it and actually making bold decisions in finals instead of letting things go because it's a final.
@thomasgilbert8321 so you have two 18st plus men run flat out in to each other.. the ball carrier has no injury and gets up as normal. Yet you still believe the shoulder contact was with his head 1st. You obviously never played.. if that had been the case he'd be laid asking for his mum. Yellow yes red no
@philpowell4472 because in the very pathetic woke world the contact wasn't directly to the head but did slide up from the chest with some degree of danger.
He hit him straight in the face with his shoulder, that’s against the rules of rugby. There were no mitigating circumstances therefore red card. You don’t need to make excuses for obano, he’s a pro athlete, he should and has to get lower than that for a tackle as it places to much risk on Augustus’ long term health
@@jmurphy9657 sudden would be Augustus dipping like a foot in height right before the hit is made, that would be a sudden dip and would be mitigation, that didn't happen though as Augustus only braces for the tackle and thus red card.
So a player running with ball, what looks to me he runs with his head at the right height where obeno shoulder is. Ok he could of tackled a lil lower but there’s no intention to injury the player. Surely if one player is running head on to move the opponent out the way, how has one got time to adjust his stance. It’s like running into a door if it’s not open. The saints player clearly runs in to the door 😂 Not a red but the game is changing sadly. Roll on next season woooooo… GLAAAWSSTERRRRR 🤌🏽🍒🤍 looking forward to welcoming the champions to Kingsholm next season 🍿🤌🏽
Have you been watching rugby the last few years? This is a red all day long now. Head contact is head contact. He had no mitigation and the attacking player didn't make any sudden movements up or down.
@@polmateer1899 yes I have been watching rugby for many years and played the game to. But what am saying is how can a player change his stance when he’s already there and the opposite player with the ball is running right into him? How low do you want the tackle to be? He is already in the stance, he has nowhere to go really. The carrier should steam roll him but he doesn’t.
Tackler had plenty of time to adjust himself, his team doesn't have the ball so he should be ready to tackle anyway. Not to mention he did dip! Yet he still tackled in an upwards trajectory, instead of straight.
@@ElphilaMaestro5 personally I want the tackle to be lower than shoulder to head, especially when the tackler is literally a few inches shorter than the ball carrier, you have to try really hard to hit someone's head when he's taller than you...
@@motomax_99 yea that’s a fair point I did say it should of been a little lower but how is a guy meant to move when the ball carrier is at full pace running into his shoulder usually you would use your arms to move your opponent out the way but it happened so quickly. It’s hard to say but that’s what the TMO is for and according to the law they got it right this time. At least it didn’t spoil what was a great game from both sides given 100% that’s what rugby is about at the end of the day but it would’ve been nice for at least to give him a 10 minute Sim bin in the heat of the moment and the occasion of the day.
Maybe there should be a mandatory HIA check for the players who get hit by high tackles?
saints fan, agreed
They do it in RWC but this is British rugby so yeah...
Only if they roll around looking for help.
Poor Beno, fantastic player😢
Sorry that was a red all day of the week, shame for beno and bath but if you choose to target a game in that manner, you are asking to get one wrong

Super rugby are using a 20 minute version of this. Hopefully it becomes a law

Lost his head and with it the game
Red card but you have to have sympathy when the attackers are dipping their shoulder and changing their profile to gain advantage into the tackle.
Never a. F red
That has always happened. The tackler knows the carrier is going to tuck his shoulder.
@@hedonaut But given the head injuries why is the attack allowed to lower his shoulder into the defender?

Both players bent at the hips. Ball carrier not injured. I just turned it off and went out in the garden. I hope rugby sorts itself out.

That was a soft card, how low can the prop drop?
As low as a scrum
Augstas bent down so he made the high tackle happen
It has to be a sudden or significant drop to be mitigating, which it wasn’t
How do you expect to go into contact??😅😅
