  • How to fix your coupe's rear window when it won't go down the whole way, only about half way.

    Well done looks very smooth after, good job. My clip pooped too and was talking to a mechanic that specialises in mercs of this vintage. He welds a nut in the same place you did your renforcement. I'll have to tackle this job soon. I see you took it apart in situ, would it have been possible to remove the complete assembly and work on the bench?

      would love to know how you go with it :)
      note: you need to take out the rear seat in the car to do this job. It's just 2 clips for the base part of the rear seat and 3 bolts/nuts if i remember right for the back of the seat.
      Then you take off the C pillar cover, chrome trim near the doors.
      note: the rear window wont go up or down unless you have both switches, ( front of the car with the driver and back one for passenger ) plugged in, i take it out of the trim from hehind nice and easy and plug it in so i can control it on the spot to move the window as needed.

      A further thought. If, somehow, the motor turned on while you have your fingers in there, would not be good! Might be worthwhile to unplug things when you don't need to position things.

    Mine does not go up all the way or go down.

      You quite likely have this issue :) just a little worse.
