This guy certainly knows his stuff. Genius. What he says here is so true; even the most beautiful notes would sound rubbish without correct rhytmic application. Thanks David.

Great video, thx for helping me get out of a rut! Love the book idea. Rhythm can be very overwhelming. You structured it nicely!

I enjoyed the blast from the past with your Parker, even if it does need some TLC.
After years of teaching I've come to the conclusion that rhythm is the most important to master musically. Master it and play or lose time wondering why you struggle

Rythm AND variety on motifs developing phrases with different intervals. Those aspects AND also dinamics are important on improvisation

I'm learning rhythm more important than notes it explains how people play by ear without knowledge of how to read music they have a good ear for rhythm that drummers makes music to dance to with playing notes since I been playing improvisation on sax thinking rhythm not notes it sounds much better I play my saxophone like it a drum

What a bunch of coincidences ! I just watched today the video " playing melodic like Joe Satriani" where you used this guitar and then I was doing the melodic sequences courses and I was wondering how to play licks in 16th instead of exercises, like how to play just a couple of notes on 16th 😆... And I guess it's also a good answer to my email hehe

Have never seen or heard of a better way to learn rhythm as in the examples of say 5 notes and than a pause or 3 and 2 and so forth Never ever thought of that and too often one can sound like just running scales without timing or I guess also called rhythm.

Great lesson. How are you controlling your backing track, through a loop pedal or is there a footswitch control for your iPad?

Watch this video by altering the playback speed, increasing it 25%. It's very interesting. The tempo is obviously much faster but David's phrasing examples where he only focusing on the rhythm pattern are even more obvious. :-)

I love your videos, one of the best guitar hints in TH-cam, however, I wish you played more and talked less. Your practical examples are too short in my opinion. Congratulations for everything else!

it dont know what to tell you all...i have daws....and collections
of DRUM GROOVES..from all sort of STYLE of music.
Within each style theres wazzooo of different grooves...with different time signature...
It's going to BREAK old HABITS real quick...Your mind will go blank or you wont
be able to just write what ever the hell riffs..as you did...Simply becuase of the different
style of drumming....The more you practice over different style of drumming..the better
you'll get.....KEEP it simple...STUPID....Play it without all the damn chords at first add just
get the feel of the different GROVE....a metrodome isnt going to help you here...becuase
    it WONT SWING it...lol
