Appreciate this dude, I signed up and just requested a refund. It's a cool sight, but you can go to your local library and read every leadership book in the library for free. I honestly think it's just to flex on others that you are in an honors society.

Great video, bro. It just sounds like a subscription to hear a motivation speaker every week.

Thanks man, got this email and immediately thought It was just another one of those bureaucracy traps where it’s a money grab and you get a piece of paper and your name amongst “prestigious characters”.

Sounds to me it’s more like a stat padding for your resume. I’m not against it but I might do it since I got something in the mail today from them.

This is the honest response I was looking for. Every other response just said stuff like “I’m a better leader now!” Okay…so? Why would that help me? I’m not a business major and I don’t care about leading. So what’s in it for me?
It was nice to be recognized, it made me feel special, so I almost forked up the money. you saved me $100 with this vid, so thank you.

Same. I didn’t join because it’s a for profit business and pretty much everybody gets invited.

I also have just been nominated. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion and reserves the right to experience this program, having someone like you who has gone through it with provided feedback is helpful. Thank you.

Okay it does help you on paper. It really does work with employers. lol but of course having the experience is more valuable but having it on the resume to differentiate from the competition.

Thanks I had a feeling it wasn’t going to do much other than take my money and give me some plaque to make me feel good. I thought it was just the 100 to get in then I hear all the other fees. I’m not joining lol

Real answer - it does help you because it looks good on paper …

I’m in high-school and since I attend dual classes (college classes for college credit while in hs) i was a bit confused on what this had to do with me because yea i saw 400k scholarships and was surprised/excited but seeing a bunch of people saying its a waste is making a lot of sense now. I’m in honors society in my own high-school so I guess I might just ignore it now.

so basically, you would have to put a lot of effort into it in order to see results? It does seem useless, but who knows. I just paid to get it and it does seem pretty useless but I think if you really try then you should get something out of it. Only reason I'm joining is to get the shirt that shows I did something lol

Which one should I choose between NSLS and Phi theta?

this video clearly details my experience with NSLS, my suggestion to you is to do your own research.

Phi Theta Kappa is arguably a stat padding Honor Society as well (but a lot of their chapters genuinly have opportunities for doing community work).
However, if you become a student officer for your chapter and help coordinate that year's events, it is way more substantial and probably worth it.
      Edit*
Phi Theta Kappa's one-time membership fee is truly one-time in my experience. I don't think it has more fees like the NSLS.

Phi theta 10000%. one time fee and better scholarshipS. Plus it looks better as it’s an actual honor society with a gpa minimum unlike this bs
