Very informative. Thank you. My daughter received the invite. It sounds like they are trying to suck money out of poor college students. Very disappointing that they keep wanting money! Thanking again for your video.
To be honest, they are. They want you to pay for extra things that should be free with your payment. I think it should all be free, since they specify that it's by invitation only and all that.
I don't care to hear from any actors or entertainers. I feel that is just marketing hype. That does nothing for me or my career. If I wanted to be lectured by Jack Black on leadership I will watch the latest Jumanji. Otherwise, I would rather the NSLS stay away from the Hollywood crowd.
This was super helpful I just received the invitation today and it definitely looked like a scam ps. YES YOU WORKED HARD FOR WHAT YOU GOT YOU GO GIRL!!! I love school to so I relate to you on that
I appreciate this Video! Godbless you , When I first seen the invitation from my school, I thought to myself like “Oh no they just tryna get me to pay the rest of my school loans” 😭🤣 honestly. But you have clarified a lot🙏🏾
Are the letters of recommendation already written ? How convincing are they ? And are the scholarships the same ones usually offered in your schools scholarship portal ? How many hours do you usually put in a week with all the writing or video watching ?
The letters of recommendation are given through your school and the society counselor can give you one too. You would have to contact them if you pay. Once you do, the person assigned to you shows their contact information. The scholarships are the same in my opinion. You can find the same scholarships online when you google it, instead of paying for it. The hours vary if you do them in person or online. In person you have to get together with your group. Virtually, you have to get your own group. So, the hours do vary, it can be days to weeks.
I got my letter of nomination a little bit ago but only recently realized it due to school and I have a limited time to accept it now I'm trying to research if I should do it or not. I know it's up to the person whether or not going into these programs are worth it but I don't know if spending $95 to join some sorority program will really benefit what I want to strive for. Only saving grace is that there's a 30-day refund that I could tap into but I'm still unsure. It's my first time hearing about these people I'm skeptical as hell and I don't have a really anyone that I can talk to at the moment about it so I either decline it and go on my way or I accept it now blindly and within the 30-day period see if it's for me or not and then if it's for me I continue if not I'll ask for a refund. I'm super skeptical because I've already participate in a program that was similar to this on a smaller scale and I didn't really get any benefits from that one so I'm scared that it might just end up the same and I'll have wasted my time an 95.00$
$120 for a t-shirt and "opportunities." Better off putting that towards a Google cert or training in the relevant field you want to get into. Informative video, thanks.
Yes, the whole invitation and "better opportunities" bit really seems like a scam. I went through the whole thing to get a look into it and inform others. The money you would spend on this, you can spend it on other things, as you said like the training or certificates.
@@SolM04Thanks for taking the hit for us! This video pretty much summed up what I was able to find out without paying the fee. I immediately felt like the whole NSLS thing was quite predatory. Plus, there seems to be plenty of other FREE opportunities (at least at my college) to network, take advantage of scholarships, develop leadership skills, etc. These free opportunities seem more hands-on anyways. I did not know about the essay/writing requirements for NSLS though. While I enjoy creative writing, I don't need to add more pointless work to my already work-heavy life.
This! You summed my video right up. People are already struggling with work and money. You can get free recourses outside of the leadership, which are the same as the ones they have. Thank you for your comment.@@quoink5659
Thanks for the information. I just received the email and am doing research on this. So my question is... after paying the $95, i have to attent orientation and some meetings/seminars and then i will get my certification?
Hello and you are welcome. Yes, once you pay the fee they will tell you all the information. They will guide you in the process, if you have to go in person or online. They will also guide you in what you need to do and help you if you need help with anything.
Greetings from NYC, I am also a member of the NSLS. I am happy that I joined. Actually one of my professors recommended me. I am now in the executive and leadership certificate
Sounds like all the videos you can get are available for free online. Seems completely pointless to join this society. Just spend money on certs or training/leadership courses. At least you’ll get full experience. Anytime there’s levels for more money, it’s just catering to people’s desperation to feel important which is shady. They are clearly out for money grabs.
Yes, everything is available online and even the job opportunity website. I got this to check what it was all about and how it worked. I then made the video for everyone else to see what goes on if you decide on getting the plan.I agree, spend the money on training and definitely don't get the upgrades on the website.
@rjrofficial8469 you can leave at any point, you just have to send the orga inaction a letter. However, if you leave after 30 days, you don't get a refund
If your place of graduation allows you to, then they do. You have to pay extra for the chord. I didn't purchase that nor the other graduation things because it was more money.
I am nominated. I am a 4.0 gpa student. Before I pay 95 dollars is this going to help me in the grand scheme of things to get a better job? Does it make a difference do you think?
Congrats on doing amazing at school. I would personally say that it doesn't help in the long run. I stopped using their "resources" because I was getting nowhere with them. I don't think it makes a difference. I got it to basically see if it was a scam and what they were about. I liked that I was getting a recognition for my hard work, yet I didn't like that I had to pay for the recognition. Ask your school about jobs and then use platforms like indeed, google and even fairygoodboss.
I accepted my nomination already and I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to the other courses. It's giving sketchy vibes, but it's only a chunk of change at the beginning. Not sure yet.
What did you decide to do I'm currently trying to research if I'm going to put in $95 and sign up myself. I know I could refund it if I do it within a month but I'm not too sure
One of my Alma's "invited me" - LOL - seems like an empty gesture to have to pay for admission. Much like the "Hollywood Stars" you have to be apply/nominated and PAY to get your STAR LMAO - Wendy Williams told it all - she said the show applied got accepted and paid like 50 or 75k to be "honored" - meh, the welcome kit video showed a plaque, car decal, t-shirt and stickers? LOL ok.
This person here is scamming you. She likes products to receive free items then dislikes organization that help our students. She's making money faking her opinion. Make money honestly not by lying and hurting people.
Yes, they are selling an "invisible" product. That's why many people don't know about this. I was very suspicious of this and wanted to try it out. I agree, it's important to read the fine print.
It's truly sad when a organization that helped so many students, including my son who couldn't even afford to go back to school become the success he is today. You sound like a bitter person who is out to her and organization who have helped thousands and thousands of students. If your personal experience was not a good one, then that's where you need to discuss that with them and possibly get a refund. But to go out there and hurt an organization who employs so many and has helped so many this is really sad. Take your bitterness and apply it to your energy and then maybe you can become successful.
It’s sad to have people like you come into my channel and comment things like this. Just like you, I am entitled to my opinion. If my opinion helps others, so be it. There is no bitterness on my part. There may be some to question on your end. Good that it worked for your son. For many others, this organization doesn’t help us out. This organization doesn’t employ students, it gives resources for students to use. Have the day you deserve and if you don’t like the content you see, just skip over.
And it's sad to see you make money off people and hurting them, why don't you talk about you ripping off people and lying about most of the products so you can get more products. How about this, why don't you get a job.... And pay taxes like the rest of us
They charge more because they need to pay for Kevin Harts motivational speech.

Looks great on applications for scholarships and jobs and we do work hard and deserve it.
So you don’t have to pay anything beyond the initial $95 if you don’t want to? That is, if you decide to join?

I got a letter in the mail from my school to join their NSLS chapter, but there is a $95 dollar registration fee, is this legit?
It's legit, just a lot of things to complete once you join.

It has nothing to do with a Sorority or a Fraternity, that idea is not right, has no comparison, I don't think she has belonged to a Sorority.

Hey, really appreciate you making this video. @9:10 you mentioned getting access to jobs, was wondering in what ways?
They have "access" to certain jobs or first pick in jobs with fairy boss. The counselor also helps with the recommendations.
Greetings from NYC, I am also a member of the NSLS. I am happy that I joined. Actually one of my professors recommended me. I am now in the executive and leadership certificate

For profit organization. Not accredited. So basically it is worthless. They are even offering it to C level students. Think about that.
