  • SB 2252 needs to pass without the "Hog House" amendments. We need to voice our concern together and cry out for those who don't have a voice.
    Senators,
I am member of the United States Air Force. I am a community volunteer. I am citizen. And I am gay.
I am a gay North Dakotan, and how you vote on SB 2252 directly impacts me. But I am not writing this to you for me. I'm not even writing this to you for my LGBT friends, roommates, or coworkers. I am writing this to you, I am pleading with you for the children of this great state. By passing this bill and ensuring its success through ALL levels of the North Dakota Legislature you have the opportunity, no the priviledge, to show every youth in this state that they are wanted and that they belong and that they are not second class citizens in this state. To proclaim to them that it gets better! That is your charge and your responsibility. To send a strong and powerful message to every kid, teen, youth, adult, and traveler that here in North Dakota it does not matter what you look like, who you pray to, or who you love you are wanted and respected and deserving of protection.
The "Hog House" amendments undermine the existing law on nondiscrimination and moreover, send a humiliating and demeaning message to the LGBT community in North Dakota that while discrimination against us is wrong no one will stand up to do a thing about it! This is inhumane, and the only humanely decent thing to do is to pass SB 2252 without the "Hog House" amendments.
I urge you to vote down the "Hog House" amendments and then vote in support of SB 2252 in its original form to let the LGBT youth of North
    Dakota know there is hope.

I live in Grand Forks, and I know several gay people. They put up with so much hate and confusion here. Hopefully marriage equality will start opening people's minds about discrimination

This was very, very well done, Jacob. I'm in GF as well and represented by a Dem senator (and reps, too), and he supports the original version. I shared this on Facebook along with a link to where citizens can reach their representatives.
Thanks for the great video. Echoing what others have said, I too hope to see you running for office some day.

North dakota is now more accepting. I live in Fargo, and it's common for gay people to show public affection

Sound advice. It makes the difference between a politician and a statesman. :)

As an Illinoisan I know the House battle will be close, but as Barack might say, the people of Illinois deserve a vote.

I never understood why the military use to kick you out for being gay. When I was in the army in 1982 the military was horrible and destroyed gay soldiers military careers and humiliated them in our news paper called the army stars and stripes. They would put pictures of gay soldiers who got caught and were discharged unhonarble. ☮️✌️

Thank you, it should be better because of the gravity of this bill but I wanted it sent to the senators before they voted so there was no editing or multiple takes. :(

Though I don't entirely agree with the LGB lifestyle, I strongly support laws against the undue discrimination of LGB's in housing, defense, education, and jobs since success and the ability to carry out fully one's responsibility in those 4 areas (and more areas) have no bearing on sexual orientation. A homosexual can certainly do just as good a job as a heterosexual. That is why I support ENDA, the repeal of DADT, and other anti-discrimination laws. Continue your noble fight!
