That building is our water intake for the city. No matter the water level of the Missouri we are still able to reach water from below the river. You should have checked out the lobby of the capital building. It has some impressive art deco design. It was built during the depression as economically as possible. Beautiful video.
As a 22 year resident of Bismarck/Mandan you absolutely did a great job on this video. A couple things I'd like to help you out with. The bridge w the 11 white spires on the east and westside. That's Memorial Bridge. Each plaza has 11 spires that symbolize the Armistice, which is the peace agreement reached at the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month of 1918 to end World War I. Five overlooks on the south side of the bridge each represent and recognize a service branch of the United States military: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The plazas and overlooks are designed to honor all veterans with flags. The flags, plazas and overlooks symbolize the military standing guard, protecting the communities of Bismarck and Mandan, North Dakota and America. That weird shaped piece of gray metal you saw is from 9-11. That's scrap from the World Trade Center attacks. Also, I agree w the Space Aliens take....the food is mostly terrible. Their fire place pizzas are awesome though. I am a bit bummed for you that you did not get to go inside the capital building. They have a beautiful North Dakota Hall of Fame exhibit and my favorite part, you can go to the top floor and it's views is all for the people. 360 degree view on that 19th floor. Over all, great video and you really did do your research. Like you, I also want to take a trip on the Lewis and Clark trail. I'm 40 and this has been a life long dream. Also, next time you are up here, let me know. I'll show you Medora in 2025 when the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential library is built. Better be there. Thanks and safe travels.
Thanks for stopping in our beautiful state, Robert! Glad you enjoyed your visit! P.s. Sickies Garage does have multiple locations, but began in North Dakota! It’s still a local joint that many love. Happy you enjoyed it!
Beautiful video.....a piece of history.......interesting places.....iI like the museum.........Capitol with different architecture.......Congrats.... I see you on the road.. LOve...MOM ...>>>
Grew up in ND , moved south decades ago. River Road north of Bismarck is so beautiful in the Fall. I lived in Bismarck the year before I moved. It's a college town, lots of bars, friendly people.
Just ordered me some merch . Yay! Pelican heads! You are my favorite TH-camr. Thank you, Robert for the beautiful, well-executed and informative videos. Safe travels.
I've got my Sunday morning coffee...time to hit the Lewis & Clark trail again! The Space Alien Grill & Bar looks like a midwest version of the Little A'Le'Inn on the Extraterrestrial Hwy. The CCC statue at Fort Abraham Lincoln looks awfully familiar--I think I saw his twin brother at Colossal Cavern in Arizona. The Heritage Center museum looks like a must-visit spot when I get back to the area. I agree with your opinion about museums numbering their artifacts instead of labeling them individually. The Mark Twain quote at the end of the episode--how true it is. Happy trails!
Hello Traveling Robert🍕🍕🍔🍔🍔🎷🎷🎸🎸🍟🍟🍟...HEY, where's the PELICANS...i miss the PELICANS😊😊😊. Robert, this was an amazing look at what Bismarck is all about. I really enjoyed the boat ride on the Missouri River...i love boat rides. Musuems were so awesome too, taking a look at so many awesome illustrations...just amazing. AWESOME VIDEO ROBERT👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Robert, I'm so thankful for this video. You have given me so many stops to see when we travel through ND next year. I'm definitely going to see if we can get a tour on that riverboat! That arcade restaurant looks like Pizza Planet in the Toy Story movie.
I have been watching your uploads for years,I like them all. I like your paid advertisements their informative.North Dakota is on my bucket list I live in Indiana but our family owns 480 acres in ND. Thanks again for your informative videos>
I lived in Fort Lauderdale Florida, Bismarck, North Dakota & now Temecula, California I would say, Bismarck has my heart! But Fargo ND is probably my next home since I miss the Midwest a lot
Another awesome video my friend.. We have learn so much from your travels and you continue to teach us.. This was really good.. Thank you for sharing it to us...
I'm from Bismarck? I actually grew up in a house the was on the same spot as the "Space Aliens" restaurant. Across the street from the cemetery? It was a two lane road back then and a row of about 5 houses to as far as the cemetery. And it was the outskirts of Bismarck? And we were barley in city limits. I used to have dreams as a kid about getting abducted by aliens? LOL. Just dreams. But years later? They tore down those houses. And put Space Aliens where my old house stood? The Alien on the sign? Looked like the Aliens in my dream? Same color and everything. They would be peeking at me from across my room in my dream. Even back then I knew they were just dreams, not real? But I look at that Space Aliens restaurant sign? And I get the creeps. LOL. Love your channel. Love your videos. I'm from North Dakota and think it's totally boring. LOL. But your videos make me proud to from North Dakota and makes me realize my home state isn't boring but interesting history. 😊 And you guys went site seeing in 100 degree weather? I admire that enthusiasm. In North Dakota? We stay inside in air conditioned comfort on 100 degree days.
How did Lewis and Clark even make it this far? They would have encountered a lot of Indian tribes and would have been outnumbered. And what would they have told them? We are exploring your land bc we will take it over?
Way too many commercials on this Video Robert. Can you back off on them a bit please? I have been watching you weekly since 2019 and the number of commercials in your video is way off.
Awesome video Robert! I live in Jamestown ND every year we go to Medora, because we can’t get enough of the badlands.

The train bridge you seen....that is the northern version of "promontory point" .
Wow, Robert it's so nice to witness our history and country through your eyes. Love it!
My Grandpa was interviewed for that museums archives. Having homesteaded in 1906, he had a lot of stories to tell about prairie fires, etc.
Thanks for stopping in our beautiful state, Robert! Glad you enjoyed your visit!

Space Aliens has terrible guy bomb food unless you get their pizza. Locals don't really go there above the age of 12.
You made me want to move back! Thank you for great videos!!

What trailing package do you use for cross country awesome videos
I have to know-what was in the bed of that pickup truck at the Two Rivers trailhead, Joey Tribbiani’s Dog statue? A Buddha? Modern Art?
At first I though it was a dead animal.... but then I realized it look like it was made out of wood

Apparently most of them were pretty friendly.
@@TravelingRobert And that's the surprising part. You mentioned that at times. And I always wondered why they were.
Bsmarck doesn't look like that! They have snow now!
Yes, different season
I saw it was 13 hrs ago and thought " hey Robert is going to see snow" and nope it was summer lols
Lol
Eww!!
Bud Light!!
No!!
🤣🤣
No people!😮that must the the least populated state in the USA. 😳😳😳
That could be a good thing
The least populated state in the USA is Wyoming.
North Dakota has about three blocks in Fargo that are worth a visit, other than that, it's basically a reality vacuum.
Minot is a pretty cool town too
@@TravelingRobert Minot is extra cool this time of year.🤣
Is it a quiet town
@@jj-eo7bj It's a quiet state. 🙃
Sounds like it will always be a Patrick Dundon vacuum. So, that’s a plus!
sounds like "Sack a GAah wea"
Nice video, but seven ad breaks and a paid advertisement in 48 minutes. That's more than network TV! Hopefully it's at least become lucrative for you.
Depression
