IF YOU PLAN ON BOOSTING A B SERIES BUY A B18 LS! B20s ARE NOT WORTH BOOSTING BECAUSE OF THE THIN CYLINDER WALLS! Sorry for caps but it gets peoples attention haha. B20s are great for all motor as a b20v motor.

I have a b18 turbo in my car and I have been nothing but happy. Then again the motor has been built for over 500whp but I know a bunch of people that have done B20 builds and its always the cylinders that crack due to them being a little thinner. Don't get me wrong B20v's are nasty, but for boost, I would go an LS or LSV

B20 isn't the best option, if he was boosting as they have thinner cylinder walls, B18 is a better option
Muffler broke get a vibrant muffler they sound soo good on hondas none of that raspy rattle can crap my integra was a deeper tone idle sounded dope idk how much the tone would change on a d15 single cam compared to my old b18 teggy with a vibrant muffler but they sound dope great quality check there website out
Here is s protip for you, and your buddy. Coming from a heavy duty mechanic ; if you're replacing the brake lines, rather potentially stripping the brass nut with a wrench, cut the brake line with some snips, take a 6 point socket and use that to get the old nut off. Invest in some flare nut wrenches for reinstall if you do not have them already. Keep up the good work
I feel like the b20 would great for content. An engine rebuild 3 part series. Gives you your average 3 videos for a week or even two weeks of content for 3-4 days of work. Removal of civ engine, tear apart/rebuild, then install or however you’d like to plan it

I know this video happened forever ago but you need to swap to a 4 wheel disc car master cylinder and proportioning valve up in the engine bay. The rear drums require more pressure than the discs. If you don't change the proportioning valve the rears will lock up on you under hard braking because that are getting g more fluid pressure than the fronts
And Robbie, I have a 93 civic si hatch and I just swapped a b18b1 motor, but threw on a integra gsr head to gain vtec. It’s the next move to gain power and move up from a d series. For now I’d say go with a b18 motor, they are know to be stronger then a b20 and can handle more of a beating. Especially if your trying to add boost. Hope this help and can’t wait to see more vids👌🏽
Suspension,brakes,tires and wheels are very important if you want to upgrade performance of the car.
That is my opinion and I agree with the engine swap.

Breaks can be flashy! People forget that upgraded callipers and nice big discs can be a good visual detail on a vehicle with open wheels.
B18 ftw. If you want to stay boosted go with the B18b1, if you'd rather have a significantly longer project with more content, go with the B18c1, give the motor a little TLC, then boost that baby back up.
Unrelated, recommendation to swap to teg front brakes also to balance.
I think the more you invest in this car, the better she'll treat you and the better you'll feel about your finished project.

Overall safety first, plus budget build is over now, @robbieferriera words himself. So obviously there will be more upgrades to engine, turbo or all put swap. So why not switch when it's free lol. Not trying to sound like a douche but truth

You need to get a new brake master cylinder or proportioning valve (not sure which one) but the one needing to be replaced is for front disc and rear drum. You now need one for front and rear disc brakes. I just did this on my 1972 Custom F100. For me it was the master cylinder but it might be just a proportioning valve for you. I’m not sure.

@Cody Tessmer that's a thing with series. Same goes for blocks, pretty much every B series block is the same, but u don't say a B16 bottom is basically the same as a B18C1 just because the block is the same
No its a b16 head with a port and polish dual valve springs and retainers, type r cams , and type r intake.
Just stating the bare head is not 100% the same my bad.
no biggie but yes the b16 head is different, only cause it does not have a stage 2 port and polish job. as the type r comes stock with not a big deal if you have skills or $
Take the B18 in the part out Integra, it's way better for boost rather than a b20 because b18 got thicker cylinder walls than the b20. So, you could run higher boost without worrying about cracking the walls.
Brakes don't stop your car, tires do. Brakes convert kinetic energy to heat.
If you want to stop faster or in a shorter distance, the _only_ way to do it is to buy better *_tires._*
Brakes upgrades don't make your car stop faster, they make your car stop more consistently. They allow the brakes to hold more heat without failing. (And remember, the whole purpose of brakes is to make heat). The more heat the brakes can hold, the longer they will last before they fail.
However, your street driven car will virtually always give your brakes adequate cooling time between stops. You don't really need any extra heat holding capacity. Your stock brakes are good enough for street driving. Even when you're driving like a dousche bag. (Spelled wrong on purpose).
If you pound on your stock brakes, your wheels lock up and skid across the road. (Discounting abs). _See._ More braking force isnt going to help because with more force, your tires _start skidding across the road at the exact same time._ If you want to stop faster, you need a tire with more grip. One that will hold on longer before it starts skidding. (And skidding is bad because the surface of the tire liquefies, obviously drastically reducing stopping times).
Bigger brakes don't stop your car faster. They just don't.
That doesn't mean they don't have other advantages. You might have an easier time holding the brakes at the threshold of skidding with a _better_ braking system. However, a big brake kit can sometimes have the opposite effect if it isn't balanced. You might have _too little_ control and lock up the tires too easily. You need to make sure your master cylinder is the proper size for your calipers.
If you plan on bringing your car to the track on a regular basis, or you live in the mountains, upgrading your brakes might be a good investment. In both of those places, the extra heat capacity can help.
If you just want them to look cool behind your wheels, that's cool too. But be careful. You can just as easily make your car worse. A lot worse.
I'm not debating any of this. It's all correct.

I have always upgraded my brakes and just assumed other car guys did too. I guess its because the first car I spent a lot of time building was my 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle that came with drums all around. Now I at least put performance pads and rotors on everything.
driving save isnt uncool ... get bigger brakes for bigger power, period ... edit: slap those guys with a book 24/7 for letting an integra rot that bad, what a shame ... edit2: please consider swapping front brakes (complete brake swap) and brake distributor aswell, as your "brake balance" will be slightly off right now ... edit3: mash potatoes

The Integra has a parts only title on it. Can't be driven.

@@running.yetiii the car shell can't be insured, anything worth taking is taken out and it is still being parted out. Unfortunately this one is already done for no way to save it.

One of my first mods are usally brakes on cars that I plan to make faster. Brake fade at high speeds scares me. I experienced it when I had my first car and i thought it was fast AF. It was a little 2 door cavalier with 2.2l eco. Had aftermarket cams,2.4l intake mani, lsj exhaust main, stock downpipe that was modded to remove the small crush bend. Aftermarket pacrsetter cat-back. Coilovers,lighter weight wheels and some minor weight reduction.
Stock brakes all around. Experienced a few good highway pulls in 🇲🇽. Brakes practically did nothing at all when trying to stop. I went home,got online and researched a decent upgrade and ordered new calipers,rotors,pads,braided lines and dot 4 fluid. From that point on i decided i was going to upgrade brakes if i want to play race car driver.

Mashed potatoes would actually be a good color for the car. Paint the valve cover yellow like a big pat of butter. I've got a 1992 Civic VX that is 100% stock, which is both good and bad. Going to start fixing it up soon- will be better than new! Keeping that strange D15Z1 motor though, it's hard to say no to tanks that average like 45 mpg.
StopTech has drilled and slotted rotors for stock eg brakes. Go B20!

The super cheap civic build is what brought me here but the expensive stuff you did to it honestly kept me interested I say forget wish parts and build that civic the way you want man we all going to watch no matter what you want to do to it :P

Please buy a b20b motor and put a b16 vtech head on it and have it turbo for the civ it would be awesome to see the civ with around 350hp with that set up I hear you can go as high as 450hp with a decent turbo and fuel system

Mashed potatoes- good job with the mod. Ive done this with my friend once on his civ. If i remember correctly you may need to get the prop valve from the integra for the brakes to function properly. Also i say grab the b series while you're motor is still running. You could rebuild the b series to make sure everything is good in it before dropping it in. I suggest using innovative mounts i got them and they are great been using them for over a year now. I think i got the 75 strength. Without the mounts the motor can be forced in but the motor doesn't set properly. Also i got my innovative mounts for like half the price of hassport mounts. Also i got a mugen racing universal muffler and it sounds amazing. Very deep sound. I think i got it for 125usd on ebay. Good job and keep up the good work.
Put a b18 non v tec and turbo it. I've heard that b20 walls are thinner and can crack with boost
Mashed potatoes, and you should definitely put a b18 in it, I have a 91 integra, and these motors are bulletproof, the owner before me blew the head gasket, and drove over a thousand miles without water in it, he drove it without oil in it, cuz it's burning oil, (it has 265k miles on it) and he kinda glued part of the head together, and now im using it as a pizza delivery car (I have a motor that im rebuilding to put inside of it now because of all that he's done to it, and im tired of putting oil in it every couple days)

B 20 bottom block with b16 head so you get low compression so you have room to run more boost
You could have gotten an ep3 for probably the same price, for one thing everyone and their brother has an eg or ek. Not to mention the ep3 has all disks and gets you into the k series world for real cheap

I hope you changed out the brake equalizer from the integra as well. It will ensure you have the proper brake bias for the front and rear when applying brakes. Had to do this on my Honda EG more than 15 years ago. I still have my car and still making mods to it today....
Mashed potatoes also did you get the brake proportioning valve off the integra because if you didn't you wont be fully utilising the rear brake conversion.

EG and DC have the same chassis. You can take all parts from the integra into the EG. even the dashboard and speedometer. Two super cheap great project cars.

Mashed potatoes! Don’t forget 40/40 portion valve to help distribute pressure between front and back brakes. Any b series motor (vtec or not) will be better than stock D15. Then if u turbo B motor will better too
