Fantastic, many thanks. We have exactly the same tap in our kitchen. Took the easy option and replaced the glands. Only £4 ish for the pair from Toolstation! And the trip to pick them up got me out of the house away from the Mrs for a while. Result!
Thanks for your comment. The cost of replacement glands has reduced considerably recently so I can see why you replaced yours. When I first did this bodge replacement glands for my tap were priced in excess of £20 . . . making the bodge worthwhile (to me at least)
I have known for some time that a dripping tap stopped if downward pressure is applied to the tap, and I have put PTF tape, on the blue or red washer. This worked for a while but failed within a month or two. I even brought new cartridges, repaired one side but not the other. This has solved the problem, a bit fiddly but a great repair. Well done.
same mixer as you, same problem for the last week found old credit card...easy to make washer done this 2 hours ago no drips as of yet big thank you 👌👌👌
@@TonyMahlony thanks. I will do it eventually. Think its our cold tap. When i turn it off it drips but if i slightly lift up on the cold tap it stops the leak. So am i right in thinking its likely the washer in that one?
I've dealt with several taps which look exactly the same, but the Allen head grub screws have been slightly different sizes - one even had a normal single-slot screw head. Sorry I can't help you on this one
Well done , but wouldn’t life be easier if we still had the older type taps fitted with rubber disk style washers , costing only a few pence each. Maybe that’s the answer , not enough cash changing hands.7
There is no point in me telling you this as your tap, although seemingly the same as mine, may differ inside - I know this because I have had two of these taps and they used different sizes. Take one out, measure it, order from ScrewFix . . . . or you could use your credit card in a slightly different way and use it to repair your leaky gland, as I did in this video :)
i had the same problem n iv got the exact same looking tap but there are no washers in mine!! other side is not dripping so i opend it up to c if that side had washers but also has no washers...🤔
Perhaps it needs washers? Can you detect any "up and down" movement when the taps - if so they probably do need washers, if not you have a different problem :-)
@@kenboon1478 Having dealt with a few identical-looking taps I can tell you the size of the grands can differ. Take yours out and measure them - it's only a two minute job

Great “washer cutting” skills, well done with a “free” fix.
Glad you liked it!

I too have done temporary tap repairs using PTFE tape, but the tape always fails . . . . eventually
@@TonyMahlony this way the pressure is pushed onto the washer. worked 100% for me.
That was incredible to watch. I have the exact same mixer and same leaking problem. I'm going to go check it out now. Thanks for the upload.
Hope yours will fix as easy, and as cheaply, as mine did! :-)

Well done. I have exactly the same tap. From Cyprus
Do you have the same poroblem though?
@@TonyMahlony Mine works fine for the time being. Now i know how to fix it if it has a problem.
Nice one, very creative!
Glad you like it!
How do I take the tap off? yr video has them already off. is it the little screw-like hole area?
Yes - take a close look, The grub screw could be an "old fashioned" slotted screw or a hex-drive

@@towerpower6867 You'll need to take the glands out to examine them - but it sounds like you're right :)

@@TonyMahlony I nor my grandson can find any type of screw of any type holding the tap heads on. Can you help or it's new taps !
Wow , you are a genius. Thank you sir👍👍👍
No I'm not - but I do "have a go" a fixing things where others give-in to the easy option of buying replacements :-)
This worked a treat. But now my fucking card wont work in the cashpoint machine.
You will find it's cheaper to obtain a replacement card than a replacement tap :-)
super!! thanks!! gona give that ago in a bit...got same tap too👍☺️
Did it work?
I have the same mixer tap - can’t get an Allen key to fit - what size is needed, please before I go crazy!

not only free but think how much money you'll save by not having the credit card!
Good thinking! :-) :-) :-)
well done this fix 3 weeks ago...and no DRIPS!!!!!
Glad it worked for you :-)
Tried using a credit card was told by the bank it wasn't a valid reason to borrow 10k credit
But replacement cards are free :-)
Did u use a credit card as a washer?
yes i did

I thoruoghly agree, old-style tap washers are much easier to deal with and much cheaper to replace too. Another example of style over function I guess
