Also! When Abby and Lev are making their way through the Scar island in Seattle and are surrounded by the WLF, they can either stealth their way through or not. Lev’s dialogue after changes depending on what choices the player made. If Abby killed many wolves, Lev will say: ”Abby... You killed those wolves.”
If Abby only kills one wolf, Lev will say: ”Abby, you killed _that_ wolf.”

Joel became a truly kind and caring man. Being in the safety and security of Jackson made him more calm and relaxed. When Ellie was angry at him he didn’t argue he just waited until Ellie was able to forgive him.

The fact that Joel spent 4 years in Jackson means nothing compared to the 20 years he spent in Apocalypse, in fact the fact that he is without a safe community should be even more reason for him not to trust anyone, he needs to be careful and protect the place, he was extremely skilled and knew how to recognize traps, he was initially hesitant to trust Henry in the first game, he only trusted because he was a person he could easily get rid of and because his younger brother, Sam, posed no threat .
In the case of Abby and her friends, it was very convenient, Joel and Tommy didn't ask what they were doing so close to Jackson, they didn't even suspect anything, Joel wouldn't be in the center of a room in the middle of strangers, he wouldn't trust blindly that they were good people, he would certainly be much more suspicious, talk less and listen more.
Before you say that Tommy was softer than Joel, remember everything he did right after Joel's death, he was really determined and was perfectly capable of killing Abby and all her friends, and both Tommy and Joel said : "I wouldn't do it differently if I could", the game itself contradicts itself and proves my point, the fact is that Joel only died because the script said he had to die, even if the way it happened didn't make sense to his character.
And to make matters worse, director Neil Cuckman already had the idea of having Joel murdered by a woman since the first game, there is concept art where Tess is torturing Joel in a chair, he only did this because he is in favor of leftist agendas, and he hates straight white men, he hates everything Joel stands for, that's why he killed him.

@@miguelarcanjodossantosmore5564 Before Joel entered the room he had only 2 choices, get eaten by the horde of infected or risk it and go along with Abby. The 4 years he spent were meningful even if compared to the 20 years, because he spent those 4 years knowing that Ellie was fine and he ragained a sense of meaning in his life, even when their relationship deteriorated. Tommy was softer than Joel before he died: he was disgusted by what Joel made him do and tried to be better, he reversed to be more violent only after his brother's death. He might also have been fine with saving Abby because unlike the time he made Tommy drive away, abbandoning the family in need for help at the start of the outbreak, his daughter wasn't with him this time, meaning that she wasn't at risk, unlike Sarah back then.
"he hates straight white men, he hates everything Joel stands for" bait used to be believable: Druckman himself his a straight white man, and if you really thought Joel just "stood for" being a white dude that likes chicks, you would have been kinda cringe.

At the same time, the player and Ellie are both well aware as to why Joel was murdered, it’s just that she and the player don’t care or willfully ignore everything until confronted with what you already know to be the case, because you were both hurt, and that’s all that mattered.

I think your thought is way better. Or at least they could leave Jackson prologue as it was, where Abby & Manny infiltrate Jackson as a couple of lost people, we get to know them better, they get to know Joel better, give Abby some kind of dilemma and THEN kill Joel. It would be better in my opinion. No shock value and at least seeing her hesitate a bit would make her a whole lot likable than she is.

Honestly I really like the way it is in the game, the mystery when you first play as her, and then she kills Joel, you see Abby the same way Ellie does, but then the game makes you play as her, normally people wouldn't like it, but after her father's death, its shocking and you start to see her side, why she wanted to kill Joel, how that affected her and her redemption arc, the final fight was hard for me and many people, cause I ended up loving both characters

    - Abby goes on her revenge mission
    - Abby’s group abandons her
    - Abby is forced to live with Joel, Ellie and Tommy to survive
    - She gradually realizes that Joel isn’t the monster she thought he was
All the finer details would be up to the writers and developers but I think that outline could’ve led to a much more satisfying experience.

He would have done the same thing even if there was a 100% chance of it working. He saved Ellie out of selfishness, and took away a little girl's father because of his selfish behavior. A father who was doing nothing wrong besides trying to do his best to save the world, and a little girl who was expecting her father to return home that day, only to find out that not only was her father killed, but the man who killed him took away the girl who was the only chance Humanity had to get rid of the infection. Joel was a terrible and selfish person
THEN, when she finally finds the man who killed her father and gets revenge, now Ellie is out there killing everyone she cares about.

Like imagine if Abby didn’t know his name-cuz he killed like everyone-and she befriended Ellie and Joel. And Abby tells Ellie about her father but Ellie says nothing, then at the very end of the game Abby finds out, just like Ellie found out, what Joel did. Then she kills Joel at the end, setting up a third game where you’ve been through so much with Abby but now she has to die. I would’ve loved that so much. More Joel, less depression.

Naughty Dog designs the greatest details in the industry hands down. However, while they exceed in realism, they lack in world building/game mechanics. That's not to mean that TLOU2 didn't have a beautiful nightmare of a world that we could see, or the mechanics aren't fun. I mean they make their games way too linear & the mechanics are forced to be used so constantly that it gets boring/played out. I'd love to see Naughty Dog team up with a company like Square Enix or another that is decent at designing massive open worlds & more fluent melee combat. Could you imagine how amazing a open world zombie game that looks & feels like TLOU2 would be? Regions that hold specific types of infected due to the elements. Cities with tons of buildings to explore. Maybe have a build your own town/fort type of system and recruit npc's to defend it against hordes & people.
    That would be dope.

I agree with you 100% for me it's better than the first honestly. I just finished it again yesterday. And amazed by such great storytelling. I love the seeking revenge from both Abbey and Ellie and this last go around I found myself sympathizing more for Abbey. I love the constant dread in this game and at any minute things go wrong. It's an edge of your seat playthrough and anyone who disliked it the first time I recommend sitting down and playing again. Set aside your beliefs and politics and really immerse yourself in this game.

The "sequence" part in this game are very well produced, even though script got it's lobotomized moments, but that they have no spare mechanic, even though the dialog and the theme basically force you to consider it... what and insane, theme collapsing oversight.

    • @bonzwah1
      @bonzwah1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

yeah, its a game where you aren't really meant to be making choices. Ellie and Abby make choices, and you just watch them make those choices. Story-wise, it is a movie. you just happen to play a mediocre shooter/survival game in between plot points. so there is no spare mechanic because allie and abby aren't going to spare anyone, and if the player tries to deviate from that script, then the game punishes you for it by having the enemies refuse to accept being spared.

@@lrsb1678 No, I mean literal in-game stuff. They had a function that made enemies surrender. But guess what: They actually can't. They will either literally flop over and die or just pull out a gun from nowhere. The inability to make their theme work is terminal and goes from minute to minute gameplay to major story arc.
It's well produced and acted, but the game is amazingly shallow.

I like how Joel and Tommy literally saved Abby's life but as soon as she heard their names she just completely forgot that she would've died a terrible death if it wasn't for them and then proceeds to torture and kill the man that saved her life. She didn't hesitate or rethink anything. Bad writing if I say so myself.

@@AstraAnima So, what do you mean by "wrong" (with no capitalization)? Are you saying that you "LOVE LOVE LOVE" this game? Are you saying that you don't sympathize with this dude's experience with TLOU2 in comparison to the first game?
NEWS FLASH: there is more than one side to every story. You like it, he does not. Some people believe in Jesus while others believe in devil worship. Some believe YHWY is a good single deity who can do no wrong while others think YHWY is a network of consciousness that throws crap together just for their amusement (I mean, isn't that what the whole we exist to give the Lord pleasure means? Not the alternative?).
I don't give a flipping Lucifer about these unnecessary comments from single minded simpletons like you who can't give a proper civilized discussion of any kind, orally nor written, to save your own life from John Kramer himself. People like you are excessive in numbers and infuriatingly blunt. One of the elements of this stupid game is to be open-minded about other people's situation and UNDERSTAND them. You don't even have to like or agree with them at the end of it.
You're too small-minded to broaden your horizons to connect the game's message to real life. I hate the game's story but I get the message/elements and can appreciate the work Druckman's slaves were put through for it's details.
Now pull your eyeballs out of your thick skull and go read a book or something. If you can't commit to sharing ideas with another fellow human you've never even met before than why waste the time, energy, and data on the mega-servers by leaving an improper response.
(Wanted to elaborate more here and there, however I'm on a time limit so this is what ya get.)
