Love the knee pads. I'll have to get some!

    Hey Mike,
Grats on STV! You and Jesse are great ambassadors for the sport. I know I can trust that you guys will always give an honest review. I’m a Yamaha guy looking to make the change to brp. Have they fixed the throttle lag on the turbos? I put on a lot of KM’s per season but love the idea of a powerful quick response of a 2 stroke. Would you recommend a 900 or 850. 98 percent of my riding is trail and I prefer low end torque to overall top speed.

Thanks man! Very kind words and much appreciated 🙏. The throttle is still the same, however the MCX kit I put on cleaned that up last season. It really just comes down to the type of riding you do and how many miles you intend to ride. 850s are a wicked motor and do-it-all sled, but you have to carry around oil or plan for it on longer trips which can be a pain. The 900r is the way to go for long distance, high mile touring riders without a doubt plus if you intend to keep it a long time, you'll never have to worry. The 850s will go about 15-18k before they need a motor. Hope this helps. Cheers, Mike

We had 4 sleds this year have ss failures. One wire going to rear shock. Three ecu were bad. This year we also had a lot of electrical problems all on 23-24 sleds older sleds were fine. Quality control needs to improve.

My 23 XRS 850 Renegade I had smart shocks on that machine. The problem was they never ever worked from day one. I only took it on trips last year so dealers in Quebec couldn't fix it my local dealer thought they had it fixed went back up to Quebec and they still didn't work 2000 miles on a brand new snowmobile and it was on full stiff the whole entire time they replace the whole entire smart shock system. I guess that fixed it after I traded it in. Never got to experience the smart shocks ride!

Did you check the wiring for the smart shock sensors. Apparently it's an issue where guys have cut the wires from movement or abrasion.

Had the same problem with my 23 xrs, they replaced the starter, bendix, and solenoid and would still would do it! Contacted Ski doo and they said they didn’t know of a problem with starting, but all over the internet are riders with the same problems! Don’t know why ski doo won’t own up to it and fix the problem!

I know lots of guys with SS going soft. A couple guys around the 1500km mark a couple more around the 2500km mark. I think because of the rough trail conditions this season smart shoxs are not holding up to the punishment. IMO SS and the fancy gauge are overpriced and unreliable

New sled shocks have to be removed and sent to your local shock "guru" for rebuild and perhaps revalve at the end of the season. The skidoo/kyb oil is not very good and does not seem to last. I bet that is what is wrong with your smart shocks.

Agreed but that is not the issue going on here. Unfortunately it was an ECU issue that has since been fixed.
