dayeity I did that with Brandenburg, with their +20% infantry combat ability idea and +7,5% discipline ambition, their armies quickly become unstoppable. Add to that their +20% land morale, I disassembled the HRE with ease and routinely defeated Austria-Hungary.
Try Quality, Economic and religious ideas. +17,5% discipline and 10% moral bonus. Lol you chould win a 1:3 raito fight, and I haven´t even counted in the discipline guy wih extra 5%
JJ Kent i went innovatice into quality into offensive as milan, formed italy at around 1500, was allied with asutria, castile, france, by 1680 i have eaten all of austria, half of the remaining HRE, half of France and half of Spain.
I like this better, you are playing a normal game rather than trying to beat the clock like with BBB. I find it much more relaxing and enjoyable to watch this kind of game where you aren't constantly pouring over every minute detail afraid to make a mistake, here you can mess up and still be fine.
This is my first video watched on your channel. Watch you all the time on quill. Don't sub to a lot because I tend to follow certain people like TV an can't wait to watch you regularly! Thanks for the content an great watch.
Going to binge watch this series, hoping I learn some things. First thing I noticed: One of your diplomats is called after a nearby city for me. Alkmaar. The one city the Spanish could not take during one of the european wars.
I just finished a World conquest as sweden, i began with just wanting this achivement. Arumba make finland a vassal and only take blekinge and then join the HRE, it becomes much easier :P, also i went only with infantry, wasent any problems at all.
A smart thing to do with the war to break the PU is to build some galleys quickly and use them to block Denmark's army from crossing to Sweden. Occupying all of Norway and the three Danish provinces on the southern part of Scandinavia will usually build enough warscore to break free. Since galleys are so cheap you can go over the force limit with limited cost, and they have a combat advantage on the Baltic Sea.
For anyone wondering how to do it without the dlc that lets you ask for support, the way I did it was taking out two loans, building past my force limit in galleys and up to my force limit in infantry. Then blockade the rebels in gotland at the last second before they teleport so they are stuck and you have them on command as soon as you move your navy. If Denmark makes it to bleckinge, move your fleet and the rebels will usually win if you time it right and if Denmark is trying to transfer troops on their boats. After that, just carpet siege Norway and block Denmark from crossing the strait. It's completely possible to do it without loans, but they make it much faster and you'll want to be out of your war and in position to conquer Novgorod before Muscovy gets to them.
Recently messed around with this myself. I improved relations with Poland and got lucky; they rivaled Denmark so I was able to get them to support my independence. Within months of starting, as Denmark lost troops to the rebels in Gotland, I declared independence and was even able to take land from Norway in the deal. Fire it early, before Novgorod gets eaten by Muscovy so you can prevent Russia from forming.
It changes from patch to patch but I'd say that England is now OP and it's due to being able to get the PU over France so early. England is already in a prime location to be able to colonise and dominate the Americas by mid game. With the PU over France, you're basically unstoppable as you have the navy to be able to reach anywhere and you can swap out the exploration idea group for another military one mid-late game to then start fighting in central Europe.
The easiest way to get indepence is to spambuild galleys and go blockade the straight. Then you only need to fight norways army and can easily get your cores back.
Well I lived in Skåne for 15 years so I know all about it. There's a disaster or event chain about the rebellions I think. Honestly that rebellion could do with a buff. It's way too easy to supress.
***** The Swedes had bought Skåne before the starting of the gamr somewhere around the 13th century. But it was reconquered by the Danish some time after it was bought. Educate yourself before you rant. :)
There are no core on Bohuslän but there is one on jämtland, i dont know the story about that though. And since they bought it and it was later stolen back i think that more then justifies for a claim.
***** There are several factors why the region should have swedish cores. By the standards of the game at least, but not so mutch in reality at that time. One, the region has been under swedish rule before. Two, the region was heavly contested between the two powers for centuries. Three, Paradox do give cores to nations that would naturally conquer a region. Mostly because of natural geography reasons I suspect. Four, the last and final conquest of Skåne for Sweden would see the region adopt swedish nationality by policy and force in 40 years. Making it the must successful conquest in Swedish history. Even with the rebels, maby it should be represented in game somehow. Events would be more logical. That said, thouse cores and that one of Jämtland is questionable other then it would pick the eye of any geography proffessor. We should definitely ask Paradox of this, but I dont think nationalism has anything to do with it. Even if it did its an almost harmless gesture, considering the provinces are still very easy to core and its most historical for Sweden to at least have a claim. That said, get over Scania danes. We lost our eastern half and their loyalty too.
i remember trying to do this a few months ago, i had most of denmark taken over and was waiting for the truce to expire, so i declared war against the hansa, vassalised them, didnt see how much my aggressive expansion went up, litterally all of europe was after me split into 3 different coalitions
The Hansa actually provided Sweden with a navy during the was of Independence. This was then used in a later war when Sweden and Denmark teamed up on the Hansa :D
Arumba, you may try to get event "A Swedish City!", you must own Île-de-France and it needs to have Swedish culture. Btw, I wonder why there is no event for founding Karlskrona in EUIV, I recall seeing it in every big mod for EUIII.
Didn't play EUIV in ages and this is the first video of Arumba I'm watching. What's the music playing in the background at the beginning. It sounds way better (to me) than the standard music.
I remember going for this achievement, and for some reason (this was the only game I've ever seen this happen) Denmark allied Novgorod, the AI Muscovy didn't seem to care about their alliance at all or something and still declared war on Novgorod, Novgorod called Denmark and sent all of their troops over to Muscovy. I didn't do a damn thing to help when I got pulled into that war, I just waited until Denmark sent over and got a lot of their troops killed. And once that war ended, I immediately declared war for independence and managed to kill off what was left of Denmark and Norway's troops. Got independence and managed to also get Skane, Blekinge and Halland to kick Denmark off my side of the sea! *sigh* Good times.
In a recent ironman game AI Tuscany got out of a union it fell under and ate Rome,Naples, Aragon, Venice, Milan,Mantua,Ferrara and parts of Austria; all while never being the emperor or ever collapsing to rebels. I'm now convinced Tuscany ai is OP. Edit: Sweden doesn't start with three diplomats wtf? Edit of the previous edit: never mind he is running a beta patch i think
Funny thing, I recently started a series for this same achievement and named it the same way. Well, you just can't not name it this way, it would be a name against humanity.
holy damn never knew sweden had that buff, they can conquer the world if they want, 20% is a huge boost for infantry. conquer the world arumba, conquer the world.
jason sweeney brandenburg/prussia gets it too ^^ along with +20% morale, tradition bonuses, and more of a manpower bonus than Sweden. I really really like Prussia.
I WarHawk I I started watching him because CK2 too. Never got into EUIV but I still hope that will play some ck2 this month after the new DLC comes out
Well, we were kinda the one of the most feared nations back then. There is a saying that time in the courts of Europe that goes "When the swedish lion roars, the rest of europe tremble" because we were extremely aggressive and very successful as a military nation.
My phone autoset itself to 1080p with 60FPS, and for someone who usually watches on 720p 30fps, the almost artificial smoothness of 60fps made me freak out
Same here. I normally watch videos on my iPod at around 720 30fps, but then I watched one of Arumba's age of wonder 3 videos on my laptop...blown away. Really freaked me out.
Jamie Wanless i never watch on my laptop and i never watched at 60fps cause i never thought it could even do 60fps so i freaked out thinking my phone had some kind of inserted frame feature lime TVs
If he's actually going to play to 1821 (I think that's right), Leinster and Milan beware (if he holds back Muscovy). If he doesn't, Sweden beware Russia. I think he learned from his Scandinavia playthrough.
I love the idea of the serie and i think you could do alot funny stuff with sweden. I did a run with sweden myself and tried taking the baltic sea and entire russia. Alot of fun! Here is a achievment for you to prove sweden is op; As sweden form the scandinavian empire. None of the following countries may exist; 1France 2Great Britian (england) 3Spain (Castille/Aragon) 4Russia (Novgorod/Moscowy) 5HRE dosen't exist That whould give you some hard time and become a great serie.
Hopefully 1.13 is solid now, that reformation firing within a few years and no exploration/colonization at all was rough. Wiz already pumped out an update though...not quite sure why it was hundreds of megs instead of the like 20 the last one was though D:
Arumba you should make the polar bears invade Asia, i started a game and turned them on and within 60 years they conquered all of south-eastern Asia and bit of India.
So arumba Dalaskogen is your most valuable province right now. It produces copper and it gets a huge buff to production. You should buff the crap out of production in that province.
To fix your phone from vibrating when its on silent if you have an iphone put it in do not disturb mode lol.or if you have Iphone in your sound settings theres a box that says vibrate on silent.
As cavalry damages multiple regiments at the same time due to flanking range, don't they do more damage in total? Or is their damage spread out and thus less relevant? From the little experience i have by actually looking at what happens during combat, i'd say armies that use full flanking range (4 cavalry at the start of the game i think) dish out loads more damage. feel free to correct me if i am wrong (it's about the considerations you make at 3:56 -ish)
Cavalry does not damage multiple regiments. What flanking range means is that once a unit doesnt have a direct oponent that unit will attack enemies that are in their flanking range. The reasons why you probably see a lot of 4 cavalry armies do loads of damage is probably one of these. 1. Because of what i said above your cavalry can actually still attack when your enemies start fleeing which means that it will inflict a lot of casualties at the end of a battle. 2.Cavalry has really high shock dmg and if you put a general with a lot of shock pips in an army you will get a lot more kills during the shock phase compared to Infantry. This is easier that finding a general with both high fire and shock for infantry. 3.In early stages cavalry is superior to infantry in pure stats because of the higher amount of pips and shock.
bothered to search the wiki this time and found the reason why cavalry is so much better, because at the flanks when not directly opposed, they still get to do damage whereas this would not happen with infantry only untill very late game. Better add 4 to 6, depending on flanking range
don't forget your core on gotland, you'll probably need to siege it back from those rebels
tonka92sweden got a core already in gotland, Skåne and all the rest of the boardring provinces in danmark and norway
EaterNuts Sweden han menar att han ska ta tillbaks gotland :p
EaterNuts Sweden Are you dumb?
Dragonbhoy lol missunderstod
Quality+innovative with those traditions would make those infantry unstoppable.
dayeity I did that with Brandenburg, with their +20% infantry combat ability idea and +7,5% discipline ambition, their armies quickly become unstoppable. Add to that their +20% land morale, I disassembled the HRE with ease and routinely defeated Austria-Hungary.
Oliolli3 Defensive has +15% moral to Armies also.
dayeity Don't forget Offensive+Economic as #3 and #4. I did this with Japan, managed to get my discipline up to 135%, fun times :D.
Try Quality, Economic and religious ideas. +17,5% discipline and 10% moral bonus.

Sweden is one of the more fun European nations I find. There are always large enemies to be fighting, and different areas to be expanding in to.
I have been wanting you to do a Sweden campaign ever since your Norway campaign a long time ago, super excited
the only thing i love on sweden is their ideas like the IKEA where the build cost is -100
Juls Bern Ikea.... the only shop in sweden tbh
Well the only SHOPS b ya
Oh noes! Arumba playing as my beloved Sweden will have me refreshing youtube every other minute to see if a new video is up. R.I.P productivity :(

I've been interested in this achievement and how to do it, so thanks for taking up this for a video series!
Eilert Leafson! Don't ever change Arumba.
You should've joined us you 0,0,1,0! :P
I feel like that was an insult in binary code.
Jamie Wanless I thought the exact same thing. :)

I do really like your thumbnail artwork, Sergio really does do a great job. I got Sergio to do my channel artwork also but still do my own thumbnails.
I'm so excited for this playthrough

Sweden is OP? Agree.
Maksym Hoyda swedish steel IS op. All of swedens ideas are amazing
Archphoenix1 Shoulda seen prussian ideas at game launch, MAN WERE THINGS BROKEN BACK THEN
WTF2BlueTiger
Prussia is still broken, but at least you have to create it first.
WTF2BlueTiger 20% discipliine *Jaw drop*
No doubt. AI Sweden forms Scandinavia in almost every game I play.
that moment Arumba starts making computer threats... "You should have joined us you 0010."

I literally just started this same campaign! Sweden OP as all get out!
That rebellion on the island helped so much, lucky dog...
This looks like it will be a lot better than your Big Blue Blob series.
The easiest way to get indepence is to spambuild galleys and go blockade the straight. Then you only need to fight norways army and can easily get your cores back.

I started a campaign as Denmark, Sweden got support from Lithuania,Novgorod,Pomerania,Scotland,Hansa and for some reason England.Got rekt.fml
da ne you let them get rebellious
Never mess with börkland xD

i love how you pronounce all of the swedish words :)
Sweden is so overpowered it doesn't need a crazy title.
Didn't play EUIV in ages and this is the first video of Arumba I'm watching. What's the music playing in the background at the beginning. It sounds way better (to me) than the standard music.
Norway is Denmark's historical friend, so they would never rebel.

We are not overpowerd!!!
We are just SPECIAL!! (imagine a rainbow flowing over my head)
historically, at the height of swedish power, the swedish army was mostly infantry anyways. they did have some cavalry, but barely any artillery.
holy damn never knew sweden had that buff, they can conquer the world if they want, 20% is a huge boost for infantry. conquer the world arumba, conquer the world.
jason sweeney brandenburg/prussia gets it too ^^ along with +20% morale, tradition bonuses, and more of a manpower bonus than Sweden.
I really really like Prussia.
Is he ever going to play CK2 again?
***** Shame, I only watch him for his CK2 videos. I never really understood EUIV.
I WarHawk I i would reccoment to learn eu4 c:
I WarHawk I I started watching him because CK2 too. Never got into EUIV but I still hope that will play some ck2 this month after the new DLC comes out
He said during his last stream he's going to play the new DLC when it comes out
I WarHawk I i used to think the same thing but then i discovered eu4 and realized how much ck2 sucks in comparison
exited for this campaign:D
Well, we were kinda the one of the most feared nations back then. There is a saying that time in the courts of Europe that goes "When the swedish lion roars, the rest of europe tremble" because we were extremely aggressive and very successful as a military nation.
arumba is gonna get so much rage from my fellow swedes
Sweden can into space?
Eoin Meenaghan Sweden can into i am the holy land?
Eoin Meenaghan Sweden has into space yes
Vujovich Gaming Ayyyyyyy see what u did there
yup
Come on Arumba this one is way too easy... You should try the baltic crusader instead :)
magnus vejby pedersen Baltic Crusader is actually much easier than it seems. I did it before 1600, and I bet Arumba could do it even faster than me.
magnus vejby pedersen Yep this is kinda easy xD
magnus vejby pedersen That really doesn't sound too hard.
Oh i just imagined it was harder, maybe its easier than its sounds like.
magnus vejby pedersen Teutons have discipline in their Traditions.
Fun fact: I live just a 5 minute walk away from Paradox's office.
johan is disappoint
Yay, fun times ahead.
The BBB of the north!
You can check your Liberty Desire next to your Legitimacy, Arumba.
Op just like Bloodseker
well... it was nice knowing you Europe
My phone autoset itself to 1080p with 60FPS, and for someone who usually watches on 720p 30fps, the almost artificial smoothness of 60fps made me freak out

If he's actually going to play to 1821 (I think that's right), Leinster and Milan beware (if he holds back Muscovy). If he doesn't, Sweden beware Russia. I think he learned from his Scandinavia playthrough.
I had a game where an AI Sweden formed Scandinavia and contoured all of modern day Russia, by the end the had 300,000 troops
"Join us or die, Norway?!" Epic xD
Sweden is a fun nation i have both the achievements that your going for.
I love the idea of the serie and i think you could do alot funny stuff with sweden. I did a run with sweden myself and tried taking the baltic sea and entire russia. Alot of fun!
Here is a achievment for you to prove sweden is op;
As sweden form the scandinavian empire. None of the following countries may exist;
1France
2Great Britian (england)
3Spain (Castille/Aragon)
4Russia (Novgorod/Moscowy)
5HRE dosen't exist
That whould give you some hard time and become a great serie.
i figured a playthrough as jan mayen would be the first new series in this patch
A decent splash of sarcasm

"We can be independent _together!_"
Hopefully 1.13 is solid now, that reformation firing within a few years and no exploration/colonization at all was rough. Wiz already pumped out an update though...not quite sure why it was hundreds of megs instead of the like 20 the last one was though D:
the bugs in 1.13 were an excuse to push out a spyware update because paradox was recruited by thr NSA
If you conquer Novgorod you can expand out to Alaska and then the western seaboard of America
Can u make a Ck2 lp urs was so entertaining
Mrhomerunner09 Can you learn English?
Company007 dont be a jerk, most people who talk like that either speak english as a second language or do it for comedic effect
Mrhomerunner09 www.amazon.co.uk/Oxford-Dictionary-English-Dictionaries/dp/0199571120
ArtPlays english is my first language i just abrivatted lets play
Prkissymo Stark haha so funny
Are you continuing your oirat series? I really enjoyed that one
As a Swede I can confirm that your prononciation is at least 11/9
Sweden IS overpowered.
Finally my homeland
Arumba you should make the polar bears invade Asia, i started a game and turned them on and within 60 years they conquered all of south-eastern Asia and bit of India.
Finally someone doing Sweden you could totally colonize
Well, that timing though.
So arumba Dalaskogen is your most valuable province right now. It produces copper and it gets a huge buff to production. You should buff the crap out of production in that province.
we aren't going to ignore that sweden was that good for a long time, they were the near dominant land force in europe for 100 years
I'm screaming at my phone, trying to tell Arumba NOVGOROD HATES DENMARK
Anyone else notice that Tuscany is now pink and called Florence
Oh God, the power of math!
Arumba? you feeling a little blue this week? *runs away*
Sweden is the best. That copper mine is my favorite
Anyone that hasn't seen/played this game before watching this video would suffer from cranial liquidation.
NOVGOROD.
There. I said it. You should've gotten support from Novgorod.
I love that by now he just keeps a calculator on hand when playing EU4
Ah, the min-maxing, i love it
To fix your phone from vibrating when its on silent if you have an iphone put it in do not disturb mode lol.or if you have Iphone in your sound settings theres a box that says vibrate on silent.
Sweden was the very first country that I played from 1444 to the very end of the game.
In the grim and frozen north of sveden-
Next on the list: everybody wants to eat Finland.
Hey Arumba, Are you gonna land the bears on your channel?
Once i did a world conquest with Sweden and it worked perfectly, tho i dont remember how i did.
I feel so old...
i did not know that you can get achievements on a beta patch.
I like those "shorter" campaigns
