  • On April 26th, 2024 a devastating tornado outbreak struck the cities of Omaha and Lincoln, along with much of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, producing many damaging tornadoes. This video showcases my Raw footage of the most powerful tornado of the outbreak which reached EF4 strength and grew to be over a mile wide as it heavily damaged the Omaha suburb of Elkhorn, Nebraska.

To address some of the comments here, yes Chris and I are talking way too much during this chase, this was our first time seeing a violent multiple vortex tornado like this at such close range and the adrenaline was getting to both of us, it’s not ideal for filming but it’s just the reality of a situation like this, thankfully this is the only tornado I saw from this year that has this problem. Regarding the destroyed structures you see in this video, the reason we never stopped to help with search and rescue is because there were live power lines down across the road blocking us from helping, the worst thing you can do as a chaser is become a victim yourself trying to help others. Also there was police/ EMS driving about half a mile behind us on that road ready to render professional aid so is risking our lives seemed pointless. There is a destroyed house we passed later in the video that we could and should have stopped to help at but both of us were so tunnel visioned on the tornado that we didn’t see it, I only noticed it after the fact when looking at the footage. Thankfully no one was killed in this tornado and we did the right thing not getting in the way of professional help but I still carry a bit of guilt from this chased, and it changed the way I chased tornadoes afterwards. I’ll likely be getting some basic first aid/ EMR training before next season starts.

I hope you mean what you say. Remember, one day you could be the victim, what would you want other people to do?

nice footage. this tornado actually came within 2 ish miles of my house. the inflow came over my house as the tornado past to west heading more north of where my house is located in west Omaha.

I feel like after seeing every single el reno video out there you should assume when you see tiny vortices at both ends of the whole meso that the whole thing could come down at any moment and not treat each suction vortices as the tornado itself.
I personally would never overlook that.

Thank god they made us aware that it was a multi-vortex tornado, 77 times in a 3 minute span

Yeah.. massive adrenaline rush will do that, this was our first time seeing a tornado this violent together so we were freaking out a bit. Kinda degrades the footage a bit for sure.

This thing looked damn near exactly like the Phil-Campbell Hackleburg EF5 of 4/27/2011 appearance-wise, once it was fully wedged out. However, quite the El-Reno 5.31.2013 vibes when it was in its multi-vortex stage.

The absolute worst thing about these videos are when the weatherners make it about themselves and yell stuff like "debris debris" and "multiple vortex tornado!". It's sad but the need audio ruins this great video. Tryst me, the people who watch these videos already know if it's multi vortex and the like.

@@OtakuGayGinger1992 Not quiet, but stating the obvious 200 times is annoying as hell. And if anything in this video wasn't obvious to you then go watch a video on how tornadoes form, then you'll get all the commentary you want.

Why must so many chasers make the tornado video about themselves ? "Holy,..., Literally.....A Monster.....literally,. Please shut up and film the tornado.
