Just got back from the local Hyundai dealership after placing an order for a new i20N, arriving end of March. Can't wait 😊 When I saw you thrash around one of these in a previous video and having lots of fun I knew it would be a great car.
@@Toastfrenzy3 great fun, massive difference from driving around in a 2.5 tonne SUV. Feel much more confident in it going around corners and overtaking seeing as it's so small. Had a weird issue couple times with all the dash lights coming on but it's stopped and I think it was related to the main fuse connector. You'll have fun figuring out the modes to drive in, I only use Eco and Custom which is mostly Sport and then N mode when I'm proper giving it 😎

The N lineup is really some excellent vehicles, do wish we got the i20 and i30 in the US. Can't recall if you've driven a Stinger before, but would like to see one eventually regardless.

Misha Charoudin : damn, this Hyundai i20 N is a rocket ship....this goes way better than my Golf GTI Mk6 210 HP (tuned to 250 HP)....when I look at the speedometer....this accelerates faster. Until 100 it's pretty much the same, but inbetween 100 and 200, this i20 N is faster....damn that 1,6 litre Inline4 turbo with stock 204 HP is good....but this, this upgrade truly makes it a small racing car.
Fitted a GTS black race chip to my i20n recently- transformed the car! Chassis handles the added power with ease, but front brakes need to be bigger.. otherwise what a machine! So much fun.
That's a great stock suspension right there. Takes a Cup2 no problem. (If you recognize this meme, you win 😄) Seems almost perfect; just better brake pads, which is a very easy & cheap upgrade.
Yeah I've a Veloster N and it takes semi slicks no problem. The only downside is the lack of camber, otherwise it drives really well and handles the grip perfectly fine.
Looks like it did some slight lowering of the boost fairly early on to deal with temperatures? Start of lap had 1.1-1.3 bar of pressure, but after about quarter of a lap it went down to 0.9-1.0 bar? Great lap regardless!
Yes it appears to be some protection factors (boost reduction) based on water temp, oil temp and EGT - Unfortunately like many "performance" hatches these days it seems unable to keep cool.
i20n has an overboost function so it could be that too. Another note - I think the racechip has the car reading lower toque and boost than what it actually is. The stock N should be getting 275Nm of torque and 304Nm in overboost.

@lukemothug First one was a non fault write off, then I bought the exact same one (2019 Pre facelift). Then I saw the Limited Edition reveal and ordered that. Got made redundant 1 year after ownership and sold the car, only to find a job a week later. My biggest regret was selling that car
Nice little pocket rocket but really needs some more mods. Oil cooler / suspension and some nice brakes. Beginning of the lap the Max torque was 280nm and the 2nd half “only” 250nm max
@@eincutr most of the tuners don’t go into the cars settings to get it changed. Only a couple of ones get it done properly! But what you can see is that due to the temps the power / Torque will be limited.
The Racechip i20N has wider wheels, it has 8.0j ones instead of 7.5j with spacers all around. Combined with PS4s it gives a better grip/stability overall. Anyway, i would upgrade the radiator/intercooler with at least a good downpipe.
I have racechip installed on my i30n dct. Makes car much more lively. Went for it just because I did not want to void warranty. I remove it very time I go to service the car. On dyno it showed 309hp (stock 280hp) and 437 nm (392 stock).
@@godcore223 no mods, just racechip with 98 fuel. Not sure, but I would say crank. Manufactures provides crank hp as well, right? Cause before racechip it was 278 (with 95 fuel), while stock is 280
Ok I have a question to any N owners. The Turbo pressure hits in places 1.3 Bar with the overboost green turbo light lit but in other areas only hits 0.8/0.9 Bar without it. So is 240 bhp only when the overboost function is working and otherwise running 210-220bhp? I know this car is tuned but it seems the overboost is very temperamental .
As long as you don't do back to back laps 130c is fine...just make sure you change the oil every 5-6k km. Done this with my 2018 I30N and it ran perfect, traded it in with 90k km on the clock for a 2022 I30 FL DCT, and I am doing the same with this one. For track days oil cooler is better to have of course.
I had one of these with a RaceChip mod until recently. Great little fun car. The suspension setup was a bit too harsh for Australian roads. My kids refused to sit in the back seat so I had to upgrade to something a bit fancier.
Would be nice to see you take Elantra N on track also. One question for you Misha, would you rather buy i30N or i20N? Just to enjoy the track occasionally and use it as a daily?

Fantastic video as ever Misha! Just out of curiosity, do you have any experience with the Kia Proceed GT? That was sort of the i20N's spiritual predecessor because it shares a similar engine and stock power figure and similar brakes I think. The rest of the Proceed is probably more similar to an older i30 in size and platform though.
It would be very very interesting to see a dyno run with racechip after 2-3 laps when temperatures are high, before/after. I heard with the i30N that the performance gains are gone fast.

Looks like awesome cars to drive. Hyundai are rocking with there n cars. They are expensive though in the Netherlands compared to a fiesta st in my opinion. Don’t know if I buy an I20 over a st to be honest.
I thought the car was 350nm but on the screen it shows no more than 290. Does the screen not read properly or is the tune not working or what's happening? Other than that they seem like very fun little cars. I had a run in with one last week with my corsa opc and I think both of us were stock but that thing was way more lively than the corsa, maybe cuz it's newer and stuff but definitely a cool car.

Bearings are made from soft materials and everything over 120c oil temp is pushing your luck! While it might not instantly blow up it will degrade them quickly.

Probably is related. I Was able to do two fast laps with stock car in 30 Celsius weather and Never exceeded 120 degrees oil and 105 degrees Engine temp.
Misha I think you were driving in a custom preset rather than N mode. The dash shows that the steering (Lenkung) is still in Normal mode (1 bar) rather than Sport+ (3 bars).

The i20n you drove with stock power but better cooling components last year did 216kph in 5th gear (not optimal) Schwedenkreuz and 188kph in the long uphill section Kesselchen. So no big difference to this tuned version with supposedly 40hp and 70 nm more, in my opinion. Either it has less power than they said or a cooling issue that some guys noticed in regarding to the boost level!?
P.S. Christian Gebhardt reached fully stock 220kph in Schwedenkreuz as well and 183kph Kesselchen. And Largus 188kph in Kesselchen as well with 100% stock. Just for comparison ;-)
In the end you did heel and toe anyway. 😁 But that just shows how used you are to doing it that it's already rooted in you brain as a habit, which is a good thing and shows you skill. 😄

Might be wrong but I dont think torque numbers are adapted to the chip tuning in the infotainment so the readings might be off.

The ECU hasnt yet been cracked, comparing to your old stock i20n lap the power looks identical with trap speeds

The torque reading is just what is coming out of the ECU. The ECU doesn't see what the Racechip is doing.

It doesn't help being mapped, but even stock 20Ns have overheating issues
Good brakes & suspension with good handling is worth a lot more than excessive power....USA take note.

I like these little cars, only frustrating thing is the clutch with the weird delay on the upchange (rev carry on up !)
