Others usually use hyperdip or wraps. But since the gas cap is where gasoline can possibly drip on, i suggest pulling the whole thing out, doing a proper spray paint and clear coat.

Placidip looks better when you heat it up in boiling water and the last two coats being thicker

Not really. Adhesion isn’t the best, and clearcoat doesn’t adhere good. Tried like 5 different methods, also used 3-4 coats of plasti.
