    Maybe instead of using the wheel for discounts or freebies, instead just have all the scent names you brought with you stuck to it, and for those people who have a hard time deciding what scent to pick, they can spin the wheel and let it choose for them. Then it's still something fun and eye catching to bring people to your booth, but your not loosing any money from people spinning it.

    Glad I watched the entire video. I was ready to bring a wheel to my next event until I watched to the end.

    maybe for future iterations you could add a sign that says free spin with purchase so people can know from afar, and if someone wants to try and spin without purchase, you can charge like $5 or a small amount that would still make sense with the discounts offered and your pricing. love your videos!

      Agree with free spin with purchase 👍

      I think it’s a good idea to do a free spin with purchase! Not sure if I would charge separately just to spin the wheel though 🤍

    Thank you for sharing your experience with the prize wheel. I'm having my first market event this weekend and want to attract new customers. I definitely want to draw in people to spin the prize wheel. Then offer a drawing for purchases of $90+ and/or booking a party with me. I'm excited for this weekend! Thanks again for sharing your insight. 😊

    I was thinking about doing this "Spin to Win" at my first craft market (Wax Melts) in a couple weeks. Thank you for making this video. This changed my mind on the wheel at these events. I have a lot of stickers that I have ordered in the past, I will probably do a Free sticker bin for all the kids. Just walk by and you can have a sticker. I'm hoping this will get the parents to stop and at least smell some on my melts while their kids search through the bin to find the sticker they really want.

      Never give away anything without a purchase. You’re de-valuing yourself by doing that.

    i love the idea of the wheel and the little goodies for the kids. sorry that it didn’t work out as well as you hoped! but i’m glad you still had a successful night regardless. if you want to continue using the wheel you could always choose to do it with prompts like “15% off of a $40 purchase” or something along those lines so that it encourages bigger sales!

  • @stephaniehawara5491
    @stephaniehawara5491 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lol I did this you may have seen it, it was a huge success. Definitely don’t charge for the wheel! Some people only bought stuff after seeing what they won on the wheel, also, when you let kids do it, Parents follow and end up being kind and interested in the products, love the wheel for sure

    • @stephaniehawara5491
      @stephaniehawara5491 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should mention that I did it at a festival/carnival so I guess maybe it depends on where you use it too

      Lol ok another comment as I’m watching! So for free things put an asterisk and put “with candle purchase” and then if you wanna keep doing stickers do custom ones and make sure your brand name is on it!

    Great idea Erica but try it Chris's where you get a free spin when you make a purchase. I think that would help with repeat customers. You can also make it so that can use the discount on your website.

    I was thinking of adding a spin wheel also. Glad to hear your take on it. Sounds like the wheel is a waste of time.

    Someone suggested to put a small candy bowl on your table and that will get the kids attention, which will bring there parents over to the table.

  • @gladys1230
    @gladys1230 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You have to try everything at least once. Which is what you did and it was great even though you had to give away a free candle you learned something.

    For kids, you could give them a free sticker if they don't win anything, idk exactly what that would be for you price-wise, but I imagine that would satisfy them

    Love this idea. Think you’re really onto something.
    I live in an area different than yours. This might go over well.
    The best money made at the markets seem to be those $ dollar items for kiddos

  • @meliplay

    I never thought of doing a wheel but I do have a bucket of candy for the kids at my booth usually it has things like dum dums and smarties stuff like that

  • @saskiamackenzie2713
    @saskiamackenzie2713 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some places consider spin with purchase or something like that as a lottery or raffle and require other licenses, just FYI, so if you go that route you should check into the laws in your area first

    What if the wheel was for a limited time during the market? Maybe the 1st hour and the last hour. And if you keep the free candle, maybe make it a 4oz. I'm terrified to do a market lol

  • @melodysmash
    @melodysmash 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    $400 was the LEAST you've made at a market?! I clearly need the video you tease at the end. :)

      Well keep in mind that the booth fees where I live are pretty pricy! Almost every event is about $125-$150 for a booth space for about 4-5 hours

    Be careful about requiring a purchase to spin the wheel. Gets into potential legal issues. Let me know if you would like more info.

  • @motleyassortment5512
    @motleyassortment5512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Use the free spin with purchase to draw attention to your website.
    They can apply discount to next purchase at the booth or your online website.
    I like your wheel idea, but next booth event don't cater to the kids. You loose too much sales by paying attention to the kids.
    Let the parents worry about that.
    Nothing against kids, I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew and I love them dearly as an aunt.

  • @rachelarroyo6050
    @rachelarroyo6050 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think your idea is sound. It is a way to attract attention of people walking by and also a way to encourage people to make a purchase. I think it also depends on the market. Maybe just don’t put free stuff on it. Just discounts of varying sizes.

  • @m1kalaps759
    @m1kalaps759 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe next time you could let a paying customer spin the wheel for future discounts on your website. You could give them a voucher with your site, media pages etc and the amounted discount.
    But only bring the wheel out for someone who purchased.
    Just a thought.

    Sometimes you don’t need gimmicks…. Just let your products sell themselves.

    • @MemoryBoxCandleCo
      @MemoryBoxCandleCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! That’s what I totally learned! However I wanted to try something that I thought was fun. But I feel like my products totally sell themselves and I don’t need anything more to try to get people to buy them :)

    Wow the video’s only been up for 10 minutes and there’s already spam bot comments!! TH-cam really needs to crack down :/
    Thanks for posting this!!! Super interesting, yeah that makes sense with the wheel 😹😹
    One thought with the wheel is, maybe most spots can be a free sticker, a few can be a free wax melt sampler, maybe 1-2 spots for 15% off or something, and one spot for buy one get one 50% off 🤔
    That way kids might still be interested but not THAT interested (and can still drag the parents over) but the people actually buying the candles can have a crack at a discount (that doesn’t hurt too bad).
    It might also be helpful if you had an additional person (aside from just the two of you) to be the hype man/woman attracting people over/spinning the wheel etc, but funneling people over to you two for the business stuff. That way you’ll get a crowd for both purposes which could attract more people!
    Honestly I hear you though, kinda sounds like a lot of work dealing with the wheel 😹😹
    Awesome vid as always!

      And oh girl Chris is actually SOO good at getting people to come to the booth. I really want to make a video with him where we can both talk about our experiences so far! I think he may actually be down to film it with me! 😄

    • @MemoryBoxCandleCo

      Maybe but we were worried that that would seem weird since we don’t sell kid things and it would make it look like we are just trying to lure kids over 😅😅
