One thing that we are going to start doing is to offer people that say we'll be back later because they don't want to carry the candles around, is for them to purchase now and they can pick it up on their way out. Several times we had people say that and didn't come back because they forgot or something. I'm thinking of making a sign saying something like Buy Now pick up on your way out. We could put their order in a bag behind the table with their name on it or give them a ticket to match the bag.
I have my first pop up tomorrow morning, so this came at the right time! you do such a wonderful job explaining everything, and I always look forward to your videos. thank you for being you and thank you for making me way less nervous for tomorrow. you're awesome.
Hey there! So glad to hear your market went well! Something I’ve started doing at markets is bringing a card with a discount code for my website. It’s great for people who aren’t sure if they want to purchase just yet, and it could definitely work if you don’t have your entire inventory with you at the show. That way, if someone wants a 10 oz candle in a scent you don’t have, they can get it from your website and the extra legwork they put in is worth it because of the discount. Just something to think about!
Oh yes definitely!! I actually have a few people my thank you card with a discount on it! I said something like “this is typically given after you make a purchase but I want you to have it for your first online purchase!” 🤍
Honestly I’ve done at least three markets a month since April and I learn something new every time, even with the markets I do regularly. It’s always evolving and I’m always adapting. I always say to people that they can pick up and smell. Every customer is different and a big part of sales is being able to pick up on cues but also not being pushy. I like to have conversations that flow organically with customers and not everyone is going to buy something but they will remember your interaction and may buy from you at another time.
You may be a great candlemaker. I don't know because I've never smelled your candles I've never seen them burn. But I do know that you are a wonderful teacher. You're teaching a good thing. It's more important to inspire than it is to make dollars. You are winning. Thank you for doing this.
You, Paris, and Jeff have provided me with SO much helpful information regarding starting your own candle business. I thank you all for your help for I am almost completed with my testing! Hopefully after that I’ll be that much closer to launching my own candle biz!!! :))
I started my candle business a few months ago after finding you on here! I have absolutely fallen in love with it and have my first craft show this weekend! All of the info you provide has been extremely helpful and I'll definitely be using some of these tips on Friday and Saturday!!! I can't thank you enough for this channel and for sharing everything you know!
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo Thanks for the reply! Do you have any videos covering tips on opening a business account? I have an appointment to talk about this today and am getting nervous I'll miss/forget something!
So glad to hear you had a great experience at your first pop up Erica! I was thinking (not sure if it be allowed) it be pretty cool if you could make a candle/wax melts at your booth so customers can see you in action! Again not sure how do able this would be but thinking a set up with one of your small presto pots. Maybe make a candle tin testing a scent using only Soy 10 just to keep it simple for yourself. The point would be to drive customers to your booth this way AAAND the price on your candles would make sense to those customers who think the price is on the high side. Even though it says handmade to see you making your product adds this extra special feeling to purchasing the item and a story to share "I bought this candle and watched the maker creating her products, it was so cool...." another thought was... could your target market be in a different area? Markets in L.A. or closer to beach cities? Anyway candle making is a hobby for me so I have zero experience in sales/business but I have learned so much from your channel so thought I'd share a couple of ideas incase its helpful to you. Wishing you the best always. 😊❤
It made me really happy to see you shout out another small business. 😊 How did the room sprays sell?? I'm going to add those to my line but not sure how much interest there is and how much product to bring
Erica! Thank you so much for your detailed videos! You’ve helped me in so many ways!! I’m looking to launch my business by March!! Do you do any classes? I have a few questions I would like to ask you!!! Again, Thank you so much for your videos!!
I’ve read a lot of forums about candle makers saying how popular wax melts are at farmers markets!!! It’s crazy to hear you confirm that too, I didn’t even know what wax melts were until I got into candle making 🤦🏻♀️ I’m curious if you had to explain wax melts to a lot of people?
Love your content, it’s very helpful! But I was wondering what vessels you use, if you’re comfortable with sharing, I’ve can’t seem to find containers with different sizes and shapes
So excited for you and your growth. I recently sent fend up with Shopify and I am in the process creating my website… so this Shopify card reader, how can I get one of those?
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo lucky! This is my biggest problem in my area... very saturated and I can't get in to some places purely because categories like candles, soaps, and jewelry are full
Sounds like you had a great event! I have two questions, hope it's ok to ask. But 1. Did you charge different prices for your products at the pop up, than what you charge on your website? I'm asking cause I am hoping to do a vendor event someday and didn't know if people changed prices. And next question is, I let people use PayPal on my website, but I didn't find a PayPal here device for people paying in person. but it took me to PayPal Zettle. Have you heard of that? Wondering if it's something new.
This is entirely up to you! If you include a little bit of shipping cost into your candles (like I do) I lower the prices a little bit. And yes I just learned that PayPal here is no longer a thing! It’s now PayPal Zettle
@@MichelleTheTinyTownHousewife yes it’s the next sentence in my previous response lol 😅 I learned that PayPal here is no longer a thing and it’s now PayPal Zettle!
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo 🤦♀️ I didn't even see that LOL thank you lol I was worried it was something totally different so I'm glad you talked about the reader in the last video so I could ask someone

You answered my question about PayPal vs pos.
So excited for you and your growth. I recently sent fend up with Shopify and I am in the process creating my website… so this Shopify card reader, how can I get one of those?
I purchased it directly from Shopify :)
Do you have any updates on how the Shopify card reader worked vs the PayPal ?
Do you have a link for the wax melt stand on your table at the pop up?
Yes!

Hey. Please share how to send candles internationally. Since not all carriers ships candles
Were there other candle vendors in the market?
I honestly have NO idea, but I don’t think so!
If they were then they were on the other side of the event
