This bike is a complete masterpiece from Yamaha. I got a 2023 model from Europe and this runs like butter. It's an amazing machine, insane torque for a bike this size. This is probably the first bike that I will keep until it rusts in my retirement home in 50 years.
Middle-aged noobie here. I'm 3 weeks into my first bike, 2023 MT07. There's plenty of power to grow into, yet it has plenty of low speed fun for a beginner. Low end torque can catch a new rider by rude surprise though in the absolute beginning, IMO. Otherwise. it's a blast :)
This would be the beginner bike that I recommend. It's large enough where you're not going to get bored with it. It's not overpowered to the degree where it is dangerous for a beginner. Riding ergonomics are excellent for visibility and ease of riding. And, it looks fantastic. Overall just a great all-rounder.
This bike is not a beginner bike. Its a fun bike for people who wanna play. Not a bike you wanna learn on. Second bike, definitely. Beginner?... It can be done but its not a beginner bike, Just like you can start on a BMW s1000rr and can learn on it, but its not a beginner bike.

I just bought my 2022 MT-07 from a dealer in southern Wisconsin and drove it back home about 400 miles away and I can confirm that it can handle the freeways really well. You get obliterated by the wind but all in all it's a good bike that you need to change the stock seat to Yamaha's Comfort seat. I'd recommend making that change before any other mods to the bike.
MT-07 It is so much value for your money its ridiculous. Bulletproof reliable, plenty of torque and holds its value. If you are considering to get one do not hesitate, you will absolutely love it. Riding it hard in a twisties you will feel that suspension is a less sporty more comfy oriented. You have to be realistic and you just cannot expect to have premium suspension at this price tag. My dream bike would be MT-07 SP (premium version like they do with MT 09 SP). I would not mind to pay extra 2k for it.
Moved and got myself a used Gen 1. Had to leave a Monster 1200s but where I live now the 07 hits 90% of what I want. Such a good all around bike. Way easier getting Yamaha parts too.
I've been driving a Yamaha Aerox scooter for 9 years, Yamaha makes such good vehicles in my opinion. The MT07 is probably my ideal "real" bike once I get into driving real motorcycles.

I have a 2018 mt07 and I love the bike but I will say changing the rear sprocket from a 43 tooth down to a 40 tooth is definitely worth it! It still has plenty of power and torque but it lowers the rpm a little bit and now I get 62 to 63mpg all day everyday 😁

Shoot the MT-07 is my favorite bike. Even though it’s not the fastest or the prettiest bike, it is such a good bike. Would love to compare it to my 2017 fz-07. 🏍️
Got a 16' FZ-07, and the only issue i had with it was the front suspension. Got it adjusted, and haven't had a single problem ever since. Go an incredible sounding Akrapovic exhaust too. Sounds mean as hell. But damn is she one hell of a fun bike to ride. Gotta love seeing Gixxer Brah is wearing off on good ol Yam. Wheelies on the street xD

I have a 22 Mt07 and the TFT sucks its too bright at night even all the way down it blinds you. And the glare if the sun hits it blinds you. Other than that it is a good bike

Its a shame you don't get the MT07 based Tracer 7 over there in the US, its a great bike, much lighter than the Tracer 9. The Tracer 7 also gets better forks than the MT07

I really want an MT-07 I just started riding 2-3 months ago and my first bike is a big Yamaha 650 cruiser that I traded a computer for I love the bike it's just heavy for me I've dropped it a few times and can pick it up myself for my size I think that is pretty good but as a beginner I've wanted an MT-07 since before I even sat on my v star as of now it's my dream bike until I get more experience and can handle a bigger engine my goal as a rider is to have fun not just take a relaxing slow cruise until yesterday I had been using a helmet that was too big for me yesterday I sold my subs and amp just so I could afford a helmet that fit
Gotta disagree with getting this as a first bike. Big mistake for new riders. 1) how well you can drive a car in heavy traffic translates in your ability to operate a motorbike 2) how well you can handle a bicycle (that you pedal) determines how well a new rider will deal with a motorbike 3) A 400lb/ 100hp bike to TOO much for a new rider for a lot of reasons. You might be ok at first but once you think you think you have it down that’s when you’ll get bit! Do not buy a big bike (over 300cc) as a first bike!
I’m a complete beginner (only thing I’ve driven w/ a clutch are antique tractors 😅) and went with a MT03 over the MT07. I’m 5’3” w/ a 30 inch inseam. Can’t quite flat foot it, but can get enough of both feet on the ground to feel completely stable. It’s been so forgiving and fun as I’ve been learning from TH-cam University before I take my MSF course. Just a recommendation, but definitely go to some dealerships and sit on as many different bikes as you can. You’ll know when you found the right one 😊
Mt07? Most of us Asians put that bike to middle level or for experienced riders. It's quite different category for us due to some circumstances. For example: 50cc - 400cc bikes are beginners or starters, 400cc -900cc would be middle or experienced, 1000cc or more are called leader bikes
I think the MTs look stupid though. The XSR and R series sportbikes look way better and have the same engines as their MT counterparts. I wish they would do a retrosport XSR1000 though.
My dude, who is a dedicated liter bike fast boy swapped bikes with me for a few miles, my MT-07 and his built ZX-10R, my first liter bike experience. He rode my MT and I went mach 10 on his monstrous bike. When we finished I asked him what he thought and he had the biggest smile on his face and said, "I had a lot more FUN than I was expecting!" It's a great bike, no cap!
I've never been into motorcycles in my 41 years on this planet. I'm a car guy. Lately I've been toying around with the idea of getting something. First thought was a Grom to screw around with. That quickly became an MT-03 due to it being actually usable. Which is now evolving into an MT-07. A one and done deal. I don't like cruiser/Harley type bikes at all. I don't care about track driving or an uncomfortable sport bike. I have cars for that. The MT-07 appears to check all the right boxes. I think it might be the one.
I spent months researching the right bike to have… I pulled trigger on a 2022 MT-07 and wow. It’s everything I need. So many “Yeses” and a very good price point for what you get. I’m 10 months into ownership and 4890 miles in and I’m not even close to bored. I’ve since ridden 6-7 other bikes (friends and dealerships) and I love coming back to my MT-07.
literally same scenario for me.. bought a lightly used 24 MT07 (1200mi on it) and its a silly blast to ride. Only drawback, its pulling attention away from completing my E30 track toy :p
My 2015 Fz07(pre abs) is my 1st road bike that I have had for just over 4 years now and have over 45k miles on it with just basic oil changes and regular maintenance. So much aftermarket potential to really personalize this bike to your needs! Just did a 10 hour ride last week down to Phoenix and back up through the white mountains and it is a perfect all around ripper for just about anything you can throw at it without exceeding most riding situations. It never gets boring to ride 🍒 (Exhaust, K&N Air filter and ECU flash really wake up these bikes)🥳
As a UK A2 restricted rider Mt07 is the literally the best bike I would get although restricted I would have rather got that bike due to its nice torque but I settled on a ninja 400 due to cheaper price and is A2 compliant without restrictions
One major major issue with this bike is that the immobiliser can be disabled very quickly by a $10 piece of tech from ebay. Its one of, if not the most stolen bike in existence

@Yowzoe slower acceleration. But it's really marginal. You won't really feel it in the first 3 gears, but 4th and up you will.

Best beginner bike IMO. First time i rode a motorcycle was when i bought my FZ07. Got out on the rode and it was great.

Get a tinted cover, they don't even cost much, get a few cause they do wear out.

Although, with the MT-07 you could have had the ECU flashed to remove the restrictions when you graduate licenses.
The mt series of bikes are awesome but mt7 to mt10 are fugly af the mt15 and mt03 looks way better imo
I have one … my only complaint is the seat . After 1 1/2 I start having seat issues , other than that I have very little complaints

One of these would be perfect to go with my r1250 Gsa. Perfect around town/ curvy road bike and have the Gsa for long haul and dirt road.

I'm 47 years old & 5"10/155lbs . I took my motorcycle license 15 years ago, but I never got a chance to ride. I like naked bikes bikes. What is a better beginner between MT-07 or Honda CB650R? I'm considering 2024-25 CB650R with e-clutch if it comes to the USA. 🤞🏾

I have a 2018 yamaha mt 07, and im worried about that clunking sound when shifting gears, not just to 1st but from 1st to 4th.. help!? Does anyone know something that could help me out? Im new to bikes.
