That didn't have anything to do with anything... the saddle slipped back. A lot of riders yell hey to get the horse's attention before rating back and turning.... Don't talk about what you don't know.
and this is why we triple check our girths :P Seen this happen wayyyy too many times. It happens. Too all you people with the nasty comments on her saying "hey". Please shut up, about 50 percent of barrel racers use that command or a similar one when rating a horse around a barrel. Some not as loud but it's popular in barrel racing.
unfortantely. we were gonna try and go to reichert this. but with it getting moved into my school no since I have other days that would be planned to missed...id miss too much. and not the belle either but i think were goin down to the Congress this year
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ya ill get a nice barn but since im going to college and I plan to sell and buy a largerbarn with an indoor, why make all those new changes when I wont enjoy them?
owww actually the best thing to do when a horse is bucking is pull ur rein to ur knee. this will cause them to have to turn and get them out of the buck. it changes their way of thinking. gotta get their feet moving in a different direction! but wow that was outta nowhere tho! glad ur alright!! :)
It's a cue. the horse will learn it just as children do. You have your cues, I have mine. There's more than one way to do things in the horse world......
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ya i like the congress and hope to go, we were goin last year but something came up, and im in school during the reichert now that they moved that so if its stays in Sept... i may never for a few years or right after college. and theres a circuit in iowa we just got back from
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ya! and thats all those barrel horses do.. is run run run.. no wonder they soon became sour and throw temper tantrums... show horses are so mellow and calm no wonder its AQHA's biggest discipline
This horse did not throw a “temper tantrum” as you so delicately put it, the saddle slipped back on the way to the 2nd barrel rand probably pinched the horses back and caused this reaction.
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 I show western all around with one horse.. and when my 2yr old is finished training shell be an all around.. she has a beautiful long trot, and then i have a yearling halter horse which hopefully will do 2yr old geldings at the APHA summer world, and then i have an all around PtHA horse
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 we just have our own barn with our 5, and no indoor :(, we want to build one buy ill be going to colllege soon, 14 hours away, so it wont get used..
no try it lol. It works and it causes their brain to naturally think of something else to do and it immediately gets them out of bucking. Horses are like kids, if they r crying over there dad u can distract them with a toy. If a horse is bucking u can distract them with a circle.
Oh wow. She fell off.. I watched this 5 times n didnt see any reason she would need to get checked except for when she landed on her face. Maybe for that because her neck kinda bent but not bad at all.. o_o I've had worse happen to me but I guess since she was a lil older.
@etdell1 dumb horse? are you kidding me? the saddle slipped back and when he went around the second barrel it probably pinched him or something.. would you like something pinching your back when your running around a barrel? i think not
The horse should be aware of the barrel coming up with his sight as well as his ques physically...."Hey" makes no sense....Its like saying HELLO at every barrel....Maybe saying turn might make more sense...So maybe if you made sense to your horse, it would be a lot smarter....
good job for wearing a helmet
Bet she's glad she was wearing a helmet! Never sit on a horse without mine, no matter the age, discipline, or training level.
Helmets aren't jesus.
Even if she wasn’t wearing a helmet nothing would have changed. He didn’t even hit her head
always check the cinch before a run. Don't want your saddle slipping back! :P
Lol and that horse said " nope, not today "
The whole point of a breast collar is to keep the saddle forward.. wtf?
That didn't have anything to do with anything... the saddle slipped back. A lot of riders yell hey to get the horse's attention before rating back and turning.... Don't talk about what you don't know.
Kelsey P right! As soon as that horse came around the first barrel I could see right away what her problem was and knew it was going to end badly!
and this is why we triple check our girths :P Seen this happen wayyyy too many times. It happens. Too all you people with the nasty comments on her saying "hey". Please shut up, about 50 percent of barrel racers use that command or a similar one when rating a horse around a barrel. Some not as loud but it's popular in barrel racing.
Man that hurts!!!
unfortantely. we were gonna try and go to reichert this. but with it getting moved into my school no since I have other days that would be planned to missed...id miss too much. and not the belle either but i think were goin down to the Congress this year

@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 yes halter is one of my favs. and i would love to own a cowhorse, buy my other discipline would be jumping :)
It's a cue. the horse will learn it just as children do. You have your cues, I have mine. There's more than one way to do things in the horse world......
What's she yelling for? Is it normal for barrel racing or due to the saddle slipping?
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ya i like the congress and hope to go, we were goin last year but something came up, and im in school during the reichert now that they moved that so if its stays in Sept... i may never for a few years or right after college. and theres a circuit in iowa we just got back from
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ive heard of Zippos Kat Man!!! and i absolutely love showing them.. so much u can do at one show!!!
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 ya! and thats all those barrel horses do.. is run run run.. no wonder they soon became sour and throw temper tantrums... show horses are so mellow and calm no wonder its AQHA's biggest discipline

@ZepRidesItRight . . . I need to watch vids like this more closely. . .
I find it funny that the horse looks like my Mare! Lol
And that, my friends, is why people wear helmets. Looked like she landed on her head.
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 we just have our own barn with our 5, and no indoor :(, we want to build one buy ill be going to colllege soon, 14 hours away, so it wont get used..

@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 omg thank you! a smart person actually agrees with me! wp horses are so laid back i cant stand to ever own a barrel horse
Was she ok?
@AQHA1HUS4LIFE1 lol thats y i ride western pleasure...calm horses...
Oh wow. She fell off.. I watched this 5 times n didnt see any reason she would need to get checked except for when she landed on her face. Maybe for that because her neck kinda bent but not bad at all.. o_o I've had worse happen to me but I guess since she was a lil older.
Are u ok?

Deserved it.
If she would not scream HEY at every barrel maybe the horse would not have reacted...

I’m glad this happened
She’s paying the price for abusing her horse
How is she abusing her horse?
