I STRONGLY AGREE with these comments about the whipping and hard spurring. There are much better ways to communicate with your horse rather than beating and kicking it. These young ladies need to spend more time developing trust and friendship with their horses. Helping them to learn and understand what you want from them without abusing them.
A lot of these young women need to learn to ride more with their seat and legs, and less with their hands. The amount of riders up in their horses face like that makes me upset. If you have to be that in your horses face for a response, you need to go back to basics. That’s basic horsemanship. What’s worse is the balancing of the rider on the reins. However, the 3rd barrel does have a slick spot on the backside; and the ground in this arena is garbage lol.
@@Horses_and_hobbyhorses heck nah nothing about this is positive. You be “positive” I’ll be realistic. This is boarder line horse abuse. Ofc you don’t want it too wet, damp is good.
I’m a barrel racer myself but this whole video is full of people who don’t know how ride. Yes, from the looks of it they seem like great riders but taking a closer look there are multiple things wrong with everyone in this video. Most of them would use their hands way too much, in my opinion it’s better to use your seat and feet rather than yanking on your horse’s face. There was a ton of unnecessary whipping and spurring/kicking. Beating your horse or kicking it isn’t going to make the horse go any faster. Foolish.
I know. Did you see the way she pulled her horses head way back at the end to make it stop? That's just going to hurt their mouths and make the frustrated.
I think whipping, aggressive spurring and pounding the horse’s sides should not be allowed and cause for disqualification. There is no need for it when you take the time to TRAIN your horse. These animals should not be caused pain simply for the rider’s gratification. It’s no wonder they start going crazy as soon as they cross into the entrance lane. They know what’s coming.
I totally agree. None of those women praised their horse at the end of the run with stroking their mane or patting their neck. The barrel racers that are kudos to me are the ones that pat their neck with their palm of their hand on the run home, then stroke their mane when it’s over.
I barreled my horses u dont have to beat them and spur them u think it looks cool and ur a pro rider ur not a rider if u beat ur horse and spur u and the horse have no team work
I love this sport and have so much respect for horse and rider, but these women need to pull up and not whip and spur after they knock a barrel. It’s pointless and they’re making their horses hate running barrels. The majority of these runs are grunge af to watch.
The way the majority of barrel racers whip and starfish their horses makes me sick to my stomach. As a barrel racer myself, I threw all of my spurs and whips away when I was 9 years old, stopped starfishing and stop whipping because it doesn't do shit, I learned how to properly ride and gain proper balance without having rubber bands tying my feet to the stirrups. I was young and didn't even know that horses felt more pain than humans. I am now 16 and want other barrel racers to know that you do not need to beat your horses to win. Horses are like vehicles, they both have speed limits. Once they reach their speed limit, they can't go any faster, so when you kick and beat your horse, it isn't doing anything but causing pain. I don't even have to kick my horse to get him to gallop in our runs, all I do is make a kissing sound 3x and he goes and no matter what time we get I am proud of him and pet him before and after. That's what barrel racers should do. They shouldn't be beating and abusing their horses just for prize money. And all of you other barrel racers saying 'it's normal' and that 'they don't feel it', 'horse skin is thicker than human skin', no, starfishing and whipping your horse is NOT normal, they most DEFINITELY feel it, and they DON'T have thicker skin than humans, in fact, they have more nerves than us which means they feel 4x more pain than we do. So don't be going around saying that abusing horses is normal. Because it's not and you're absolutely terrible for it. If you have to rely on whips, spurs, harsh bits, etc. just to win money then you shouldn't own horses period.
Please… I do agree that this is some of the ABSOLUTE WORST display of horsemanship. Well LACK of horsemanship. But taking someone’s horse? No need to be so melodramatic. Take it down a notch. (Btw… I think you mean THEIR horse.).
@@Lexi_Eqq Well… since barrel racing is a TIMED event, there is no such thing as a judge, now, is there? So, it would be impossible to “act like a judge.”
Quel se casse la figure bien fait
How is it amazing when some goes wrong or gets hurt.?
How is this amazing if you fall off or your horse falls,or if you knock a barrel?
Shame on the girl that started whipping her horse after he was stopped because she knocked a few barrels
I didn't see her do that but you have a good point.

A lot of people use spurs- they’ve used them since time began-
@@miacampbell4310 I know?
@ I was saying it to someone else. Bro.
I barly even use them on my horses
Let's learn how to barrel race before making a fool of yourself. Some of these riders are ridiculous.
Every barrel race... there's that one person who should not be on a horse.
Fr. If I can hear you whipping ur horse from a camera calm tf down

Finding a good teacher is HARD! I rarely watch other competitors because so many just don't ride well.
That arena needs to have more water in it it’s wayyyy too dry 😨
it is way to dry fr
Frrrrrr
It’s actually better like that.if it gets wet, horses can slip.and focus on the positive.

I 100% agree with you
ground doesnt look that great
no it dues not
Riders dont either
Using spurs and a whip together does nothing but frustrate your horse, you’re basically abusing your horse for no real gain in speed.
Agreed
You are so right
No 😮
Obviously don't ride! I am more concerned about how heavy and behind the motion the majority of them were. Very dangerous for their mount.
You guys are the dumbest people ever ok
The third rider was awful all they did was whip and kick

Not all beral racers are abusing but but some like 3:01 the was Just called for
U could hear how hard she was whipping him/her
i was crying when i saw how hard they horse kicks
1:40 Is this what they mean with the expression "the walk of shame" ??? I bet she's gna be "butt hurt" after this 😆😝
She deserved it no better than she rides. I hope her horse didn't get injured.
It's up to me and reba mcentire
this is not amazing barrel racing.
Frrrrr
i am a barrel racer and i still don't think this is ok there horse is already running there heart out why tip them like that!
Some people shouldn’t own horses.
I barreled my horses u dont have to beat them and spur them u think it looks cool and ur a pro rider ur not a rider if u beat ur horse and spur u and the horse have no team work
This just makes me so mad seeing how they treat a horse they say they love and is their heart horse i never spur or whip my horses i do love them
Same I couldn't bring myself to hurt any horse I love all horses way too much
I see alot of whipping then ur going to pat ur horse after u beat him poor horses u dont need them
Checked the comments first. Not going to watch the video.
That first one made my heart break

these women ride horrible and the ground is very slick
U. Beat ur horse and spur them at they same time uare abusing ur horse i dont care how dull a spur is it still hurts the horse
You’re abusing the English language.
