After 8 miscarriages and 2 failed IVF treatments is when they caught my hypothyroidism. So many doctors just thought i was fat, joint pain and tired. Telling me that I needed just to lose weight and eat less when i was already only eating 1 meal a day for years. To finally find a doctor that knew what to look for and treat me was phenomenal! Started losing weight and 4 months later we became pregnant through IVF. 8 months pregnant now and so excited to start this new journey in our lives.❤
I just got diagnosed tonight after 5 years of infertility. Starting medication tomorrow. Hoping that once my levels are corrected, we can have a healthy pregnancy.
I just got diagnosed with Hashimotos but was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 5 years ago. PCOS is also here… I want to have a baby 😢😢😢😢 how’s it going for you?
I lost my first pregnancy due to this and I’m so glad I found this video because it’s giving me a lot of information I didn’t even know before ,, thank you for making this video ❤️
This is not meant to disrespect your life and video. I apologize in advance if it makes you uncomfortable... I have Hashimoto's disease and I haven't had ANY of the symptoms that you have. Nor was I checked every month to make sure everything was ok. I just called the doctor when I felt that my Thyroid was starting to swell, and they would get me in for an appointment as soon as possible. That only happened once out of my pregnancy so far. I am 25 weeks currently. Nor did I see a doctor before I got pregnant. Mainly because I wasn't planning on having a baby, but life happens. I also didn't get the medication I needed until I was 3.5 months pregnant, And everything is fine with baby. I wanted to emphasize that every woman, pregnancy, baby, illness/disease is different. Yesssss what your saying is helpful. But also scary. I didn't bleed one time. I just don't want other woman to watch this and think DISASTER is going to strike them because of Hashimoto's disease. But Someone will benefit from your story, and for that thank you for sharing.
Oh gosh that is not my intention at all! Oh the NHS it's recommended that you get your TSH levels at a certain level before conceiving and you have to get bloods done for your consultant every 4-6 weeks so that what I did. I didn't bleed in my second pregnancy apart from spotting in 1st trimester. Everyone is so different and thanks for sharing your story too.
You’re blessed. Hashimotos is linked to infertility and miscarriage. I’m a registered nurse, and your doctor was incredibly irresponsible for not checking your levels. I’m so glad you’re ok! ❤️
I wish women like you could also share their experiences on TH-cam because I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I didn't plan to get pregnant but I am. I would like to hear experiences of people who went through a full term pregnancies who have hypothyroidism without planning. I searched and searched and searched but no one has posted anything.
I just found your video. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism around the same time I found out I was pregnant for the first time. No one really told me the extreme importance of lowering my TSH levels before getting pregnant or checking my levels through pregnancy, so I ended up having a miscarriage. Now I have more information but was actually pretty scared about my chances of getting my next pregnancy full term. This really showed me a light. Thank you so much.
Glad i found this video really positive and gave me so much hope! I had 5 miscarriages in a row my obgyn checked my TSH and it always turn out normal, after i read Rebbeca fett book “it starts with the egg”, she mentioned checking for the complete thyroid panel and i did. thats how i found out i got hashimotos early this year, praying for a healthy pregnancy 🤞💕 Thank you!
Thank you! In my case I was not planning on getting pregnant, but I am, but knowing that you had a healthy baby is a breath of fresh air....google keeps putting articles of deformities and autism due to hypothyroidism and drinking thyroid pills, uhh it just breaks you down and makes you feel awful...but thank you for your positiveness
Good luck, now you know you have hashimotos you can get your health back on track! Im pregnant with no.2 it can be done!! Also look up Sweet Laurel Bakery-she is SUCH an inspiration and had a brilliant pregnancy despite having hashimotos x
This was such a great video! I have had hypothyroidism since I was 18 and I’m now 23. When I first went to my endocrinologist my levels were in the 400s!! I don’t have family or friends with this same issue and it was so helpful to hear your story. I never hear about anyone’s experiences with this!
Thanks for this video, although I did have to do some googling to find it ha! I just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and we are TTC. Fingers crossed that my levels can find a balance to make a baby!
I know this is an old video but I cannot thank you enough for your words I am sooo scared because everything about hashimoto is miscarriage and cannot have kids I’m 42 and trying IVF to have my baby and it’s terrifying what you hear out there!! I’m staying positive and rewatching your videos to stay positive ❤
I have hypothyroidism and I have lost two babies. :( This video has helped. I need to get it sorted at the doctor's!! Thank you. I take 50mg levothyroxine. Perhaps it's not enough.
I so glad this has helped and I am so so sorry to hear of your loses. Some good resources are Dr Jolene Brighten and Aviva Room-it may give you a better idea of other bloods to get done x
It happened with my wife too, she lost and we are devastated. Can you help me, if you are given with any Steroids or minerals like Selenium or something? She started taking Levythorixine after we lost first and it happened for second too.
Have been super anxious with thinking of becoming pregnant with my newly diagnosis of unspecified hypothyroidism of only 2 years. I also have on my fathers side women who haven’t been able to conceive and on my mother’s side women who have been super fertile. This video has really helped me so much to feel less anxious about becoming pregnant. Gut issues, fatigue and just overall imbalance of weight gain/loss has been the hardest part of this thyroid complication. Thank you for making this video really was very information and encouraging. ❤️
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 29. Before that it was high but still within the range. No wonder I gained weight a lot during that year.
Thank you so much for this. 6 years TTC and finally confirmed I had hypothyroidism. I still feel nervous but these videos help me brace myself. I can't wait to see my specialist about actually getting pregnant. I didn't think it was possible.
We are planning for a baby just recently but my doctor diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. I feel sad but after watching your video it gave me hope. Thank you! 😘
We just stumbled across this video and want to say a huge thank you! There is such little good quality information out there about Hashimotos and pregnancy, so much so that we decided to set up our own channel to chart our journey too. Thank you for leading the way!
Thank you so much! I have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism as well and can relate to everything you mentioned. So helpful and reassuring since I am preparing for conception this coming fall. I am already practicing self care by consuming whole foods, exercise, and improved sleep and stress levels. Having Hashimoto's is a challenge, but can be done with pregnancy.
Hi just want to say thank you so much for giving me hope. I was terrifid after reading online about how thyroid can affect pregnancy. I have been getting myself so depressed and down. Buy this video has reassured me massively. 🙏 you have no idea how this video has helped me. Xxx
Yes google is the worst! It creates so much doubt and stress! I have a resources page on my blog that has some nice books and products which have really helped me - www.beckyocole.com/best-diet-books-products-hashimotos-hypothyroidism/
I got pregnant on an IUD. Roughly 12 weeks along. I found out yesterday I have subclinical hypothyroidism. TSH doesn't seem to be evaluated during pregnancy, but I happened to have the test ordered prior, but forgot about it until I had my blood tests for other diseases. Fingers crossed it's a temporary problem. Went on the medication today
We need more of this info out there in my country they rarely check for hypothyroidism when pregnant or even if you have a miscarriage and have all the symptoms thanks for sharing it made me wiser
Wow I’m going through it all right now! Currently bleeding too, tsh isn’t down though so I think I’m miss carrying. Super happy to hear of your successful pregnancy. Gives me hope!
I have same problem as you have. I just feels so scared because I don’t really think I can get pregnant bcx of hypo. It’s changed my life forever and made me highly doubts but since you made that videos. It’s kinda give me more hope and faith also can be pregnant. So I really can be pregnant? I just still in shock.
After our 1st baby I never managed to loose that last 10kgs and 4 years later (!!!), after trying for baby#2 for 1.5years..I've got a 1160 AntiTPO level and 6.66 TSH private lab back... got 2 6weeks old miscarriages and just don't see any hope at the moment to have quick action on NHS' side. :(
what about women with hyperthyroid? I'm worried I got hyperthyroid after first pregnancy and I am hoping and praying I won't have any fertility issues for next pregnancy as i'm still having menstrual cycles and I believe I am still olvalating. I find this great information still. I'm praying to God I will be able to have my next baby with no issues with my true love once we finally meet.
I got my thyroid checked I have the same thing as you I’m worried about becoming pregnant I want a healthy baby I just don’t want anything bad to happen
Thank you so much for this video, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 2weeks old and when I told my doctor I was trying to get pregnant earlier this year I got told that i would struggle but they offered no other help or advice, I always ask for my level after my blood test every 6 week and it ranges 3-6, I’m going to try and get it below 3 now and see if that helps sand also go speak to my gp again.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, I found out 2 yrs ago I had hypothyroidism and we have been ttc for 10 yrs. finally having my appointment with the reproductive endocrinologist in a few weeks! I’m anxious to know how long it will take us after getting my thyroid levels on point.
I've had 6 losses 19-20 years old, my last loss was in April. I've known i had a thyroid problem since I was 14. I did research day and night and talking to my aunts and cousins who have a thyroid problem as well. But my drs felt my neck for many years and said I was fine. Then at 20 years old I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism by my husband Dr, she did blood work. I told her my obgyn just felt my neck and she's like no were doing blood work. And boom i was right all along..
I lost 2 baby’s over my thyroid.. one at 7weeks and the other at 9weeks1day .. that last pregnancy was a year ago but since then they haven’t been able to level out my thyroid 😫
@@beckyocole over here in Ireland they might have a different name for them but I’ll have to try something .. unless it’s my contraception pill that’s causing my thyroid to not function properly
Yes I went off the pill when I found out I had hashimotos. Not sure if it helped but I did do that. My private dr is in Ireland! Dm me privately and I can send details if you want
HI Dear is it OK to take thyroid medication T3 ( liothyronine) and T4 levothyroxine for breastfeeding? I saw your other video that you switch to additional T3. Thanks doll
Thanks for sharing i have thyroid hypo and I did not know I had to be in control with endocrinology. My primary care doctor never listens or understand thyroid won’t be going with him maybe because he haves a lot on his plate.
Yes I had both of my pregnancies monitored through the NHS-I think it was bloods and a consultant before conception and then 4 week bloods and meds adjustments during and then one appointment after to readjust meds. I have a private consultant now and Im in remission.
How long does it take to lower TSh and how long it took you to get pregnant? I just found out mine is at 11 and I’m struggling to get pregnant. Thanks ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I have hypothyroidism Hashimoto. And my levels are good now to get pregnant. But I wanted to ask you how long take you to get pregnant??
Hey Becky. Thank you for sharing your story. Did you have high anti-TPO (or Tg) antibodies? Did your endocrinologist monitor them or talk about them at all being a cause for concern?
Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate that. Can i just ask how come your consultant agree to see you once a month? I have similar issue and hence asking.
I am in Birmingham. Lets see what happens with my care! I was pregnant last year but sadly had a miscarriage. But was not given this high quality care. Fingers crossed 😊
Thank you for this video! I have an underactive thyroid and polycystic ovaries! planning on having a child but super scared that I won't be able to conceive or carry! but your video has given me confidence! x
This gives me soooo much hope. I'm 24 and got diagnosed with only hypothyroidism (came up that I don't have Hashimotos) but still I was so incredibly worried I wasn't gonna be able to have kids. Thank u for this 😊
Hi! Saw your post on Instagram that you’re taking thyroid with t3. How do you feel on it ? Currently I am taking armour thyroid ( pig thyroid )and synthroid . How do you feel on it ? Is the t3 you are taking called liothyronine?
@@beckyocole that’s excellent . I was in the same shoe.. I felt more hypothyroid symptoms on levo( synthroid ) the blood work show I wasn’t converting t4 to t3. After switching with t3 I felt better than ever . There is a brand called armour thyroid it’s natural n has pig thyroid . I believe the makers are in Ireland
Which gp do u go to?! Mine gave no such thorough treatment and said I was fine to try for a baby even though I was at 5+ on my levels. My levels recently went to 41.18 and they still told me to try!! 😡🤦🏽♀️
Wow that is crazy, I have the NHS (uk) which could be different from your country but now I have a private doctor which has been the best choice for me.
Thank you for posting! Great information. I just found your channel! Having Hashimotos, did you have TPO antibodies present? Did you have to implement a gluten free diet during your pregnancy?
Thank you so much for sharing this I believe that my undiagnosed hypothyroidism caused my miscarriage 8yrs ago 🥺🥺me & my husband have been trying for a baby ever since 🥺still not pregnant I’m at my wits end I’m 36 now I don’t think it’s ever going to happen some things are just not meant to be 😢😢😢😢
Omg thank you so much for this video! I have had 2 miscarriages now. I just had my blood work done and found out I have Hashimoto’s. I’m just starting medication and this gives me sooooo much hope that the next time will work out.
Hi Maggie, im so glad this video helped :) I'd really suggest getting tested for MTHR gene too and take some good prenatal (I like the Seeked Health brand) x
Becky O Cole I actually was tested for that too and was negative. But I’m still choosing to take a prenatal with folate instead of folic acid just to be safe. Its called naturelo. I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant!
Hi Becky.. your video is really giving me hope as I was also trying to conceive for number 2.while my daughter is 5 and half years .. I visited to docotr first and was diagnosed with hashimotos it’s been almost 3 months while I am taking levothyroxin 50mg .. and my TSH level is very normal and safe for pregnancy .. I really wanted to get pregnant soon as my daughter wants her partner very anxiously .. I saw many videos and I was scared that with hashimotos one cannot get pregnant but ur video give me hope .. if possible I would like to write you personally so u can better explain me how u track ur fertility and so on.. it would really helpful for me .. and I would be very very thankful to you ..🥰
we are in similar circumstances. i have a 6.5 yr old daughter and i have hashimoto and hypo and been on levo for about 2 months now..i just got my lab work done and my tsh went from 6 to around 1.75 after taking 25mcg of levo daily. we should get in touch!!!
I recently lost my baby as well and found out about my hypothyroid when I became pregnant. This was a very uplifting video as I am trying to find ways to be positive about trying again once my thyroid is managed. Thank-you for sharing your story
Was your baby ok after birth? Is it healthy and strong like any other ? My husband is worried if we bring babies they will be weak because of my thyroid condition and prone to sickness... Well he is a worried some husband. And I got diagnosed when i was around 15 y old and by now 27 y old I am kind of getting it balanced,,,, took almost 10 y to balance me XD I want to have many babies and I am so worried about having natural birth and also having this condition of the body (same like you)
You can always get genetic screening if you're really worried on that front. Or both of you could talk to a thyroid specialist and they will put your mind at rest with stats and what not! Best thing you can do is to get a really great health team around you, that's what I did and it's the best thing I did. They will make sure you're strong before you attempt conceiving and thats the most important thing. Lots of women have thyroid issues and go onto having healthy multiple births x
You would need to go to your GP and get a consultant to work with you to make sure your levels are ok for pregnancy and then during pregnancy they check you very regularly and adjust the medication so that stay within range. You can also support your thyroid in a natural way at the same time too, which I recommend. I have a list of resources linked in this post :)
Becky O Cole I actually went to an obgyn the one who was supposed to deliver my son , he came later so he wasn’t able but he kept telling me that it was possible to still get pregnant to keep trying every day 3 times a day I’m trying to go to another one because I don’t like his comments lol and thank you I’ll have to read up on it
Becky O Cole I also forgot to mention that I am on medication. My doctor had me off of it for 6 weeks to get my levels re checked and when I got re checked they still weren’t good so she’s having me on a lower dosage and wants me to retest with my new doctor
It's definitely really common to get hypothyroidism after a pregnancy-there's a book by Jolene Brighten all about the thyroid for women postpartum, you should read it, I think you'd like it!
I had surgery back in 2014 I had be I think 25 or 24 but anyway I had thyroid on both side my neck that had be removed I be on medical n was take levothyroxine sodium n other pill the doctor gave m back than I now have heal real good and everything n my period come back but again I had lil sollow on side of my neck went back to doctor in 2019 n doctor say I have take levothyroxine sodium tablet only one every morning before breakfast, n that help sollow go down n also workout because I gain Weight that may have cause that sollow up I'm doing fine now n sollow is gone but I still have take pill one pill every morning before bk-f and weird that I haven't see my period last mouth now I'm worry because idk if I can convince baby because I'm take pill. I'm 29 now n really want have my first baby
I actually can't remember, so sorry! I do know that the consultant was very careful to regulate to a certain point before she gave the go-ahead to try and get pregnant.
Hi Denise, I think it was three months in total. Not too long. The two biggest helps were getting my TSH levels really low with the help of a consultant and going off gluten! x
Hello, I was just diagnosed by Hashimotos. What was your TSH before taking any pills before pregnancy? How much was your starting dose and highest dose during pregnancy? Thanks a lot for sharing.
I had hashimotos for about 9 years before I got pregnant so before pregnancy I believe I was sitting at about TSH 3 then I changed my dose gradually and ended up taking 100mg x5 days a week and 75mg x2 days a week I believe! Now Im back to 100mg at weekends and then 75mg mon-fri xx
Please be concise and do preparation before the video (names of meds and specialists etc). Otherwise the video becomes annoying and your credibility goes down the drain.

I lost 2 baby’s over my thyroid.. one at 7weeks and the other at 9weeks1day .. that last pregnancy was a year ago but since then they haven’t been able to level out my thyroid 😫
You could try a naturopath or functional doctor. They can be a game changer!
Thanks doll
Thank you for your lovely post.
I have Hashimotos and am 5 weeks pregnant. I miscarried last year and am keeping my fingers crossed this year.
Good luck!! x
Tsh is 3.45 is normal i am pregnate now one year ago i lost my baby
Wow your story is like mine , but still struggling with my thyroid I’m 33 now still no kid
Thanks for sharing i have thyroid hypo and I did not know I had to be in control with endocrinology. My primary care doctor never listens or understand thyroid won’t be going with him maybe because he haves a lot on his plate.
Keep looking for a dr that listens!! x
Hi, thank you for sharing it has given me hope! I just wondered what supplements you took during your pregnancy ?
I chose the prenatal supplement by Seeking Health which I love and an omega x
Thank you! I’ll give them a try x🙏❤️
How do you know when to start going to the doctor once a month to keep track of thyroid levels... even though already being treated
Hi Brittany, here in the UK you have to check in with blood work every 4 weeks until about 20 weeks pregnant.
Thank you for this video. I was really afraid not to get pregnant after diagnosed with hypothirodism 3 days ago.
Glad it was helpful! Wishing you luck and stay positive! x
Can I ask, did you do this on the NHS? Struggling with Hashimoto's and keeping a pregnancy, I'm based in the UK
Thanks ❤
With my NHS consultant it took a few months-maybe max 6 months?
I don’t usually comment on TH-cam videos but I found this really informative and helpful so thank you. I’m glad things worked well for you.
Im so happy you found it helpful! x
When you had the bleeding in first pregnancydid you have cramping as well?
No I didn't x
Thank you for sharing positivity. I am having fear for my baby too and it makes stress. I am about to see a doctor soon. ❤😊
been trying for 7 months!! 😟😟
Hi! Did you increase the dose of levothyroxine?
Yes during pregnancy as requested by my consultant and then back to usual pre pregnancy dose afterwards x
Thank you so much for this video. I have hypothyroidism Hashimoto. And my levels are good now to get pregnant. But I wanted to ask you how long take you to get pregnant??
I was lucky that I conceived pretty much straight away. Good luck! x
Hi can I ask you? How much hypothyroidism you had? And did you concive a baby ?
Hi, have you been in any medications for Hashimoto's other than levothyroxine during your pregnancy?
No during pregnancies I've only been on T4. Now postpartum Im on t3, LDN and t4 :)
In Northern Ireland, in the NHS (which is our health service) it's just the way they handle pregnancy and thyroid issues. Im very lucky! x
I am in Birmingham.
Lets see what happens with my care!
I was pregnant last year but sadly had a miscarriage. But was not given this high quality care.
Fingers crossed 😊
Thank you for this video! I have an underactive thyroid and polycystic ovaries! planning on having a child but super scared that I won't be able to conceive or carry! but your video has given me confidence! x
Good luck India :) xx
How long were you on levothyroxine before your doctor said “ok you can conceive now “ ?
A few months, maybe 6?
Are you ever going to be able to get off of levothyroxin? Or will you need to take it life long?
This gives me soooo much hope. I'm 24 and got diagnosed with only hypothyroidism (came up that I don't have Hashimotos) but still I was so incredibly worried I wasn't gonna be able to have kids.
Thank u for this 😊
Hi! Saw your post on Instagram that you’re taking thyroid with t3. How do you feel on it ? Currently I am taking armour thyroid ( pig thyroid )and synthroid . How do you feel on it ? Is the t3 you are taking called liothyronine?
Hi, yes Im on liothyronine :) 1/2 tab each day and 100 of t4. Feel WAY better :)
Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Which gp do u go to?! Mine gave no such thorough treatment and said I was fine to try for a baby even though I was at 5+ on my levels. My levels recently went to 41.18 and they still told me to try!! 😡🤦🏽♀️
Wow that is crazy, I have the NHS (uk) which could be different from your country but now I have a private doctor which has been the best choice for me.
Thank you for posting! Great information. I just found your channel! Having Hashimotos, did you have TPO antibodies present? Did you have to implement a gluten free diet during your pregnancy?
Thank you, you gave me hope that I can become a mother
You say avoid gluten, would that also mean wheat?
Thank you so much for your video xx
Yes
thank you soo much a big big help optimism
Hi doll thanks for posting . I recently gave birth waiting on results for health screen . Also have hypothyroid too does your children have it ?
No just me! x
Hi Dear !
Did you get bleeding same like periods on 4th week.
How did you know your pregnancy is fine ??
Thank You
Whenever I had bleeding I contacted my midwife and went in for an early scan xx
Did u take any progestrone supplements?
No just Seeking Health Prenatals this time round (pregnant again and have an update coming soon!) x
Thank you so much for sharing this I believe that my undiagnosed hypothyroidism caused my miscarriage 8yrs ago 🥺🥺me & my husband have been trying for a baby ever since 🥺still not pregnant I’m at my wits end I’m 36 now I don’t think it’s ever going to happen some things are just not meant to be 😢😢😢😢
thank you 🙏
Omg thank you so much for this video!
@@maggielatendresse8878 how did things go
Thank you so much for this !!!!!!
You're so welcome!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi Becky.. your video is really giving me hope as I was also trying to conceive for number 2.while my daughter is 5 and half years ..
Im glad it helped. I shared it because there was nothing online about a real experience x
Thank you so much for making this video!
Was your baby ok after birth? Is it healthy and strong like any other ?
My husband is worried if we bring babies they will be weak because of my thyroid condition and prone to sickness... Well he is a worried some husband. And I got diagnosed when i was around 15 y old and by now 27 y old I am kind of getting it balanced,,,, took almost 10 y to balance me XD
I want to have many babies and I am so worried about having natural birth and also having this condition of the body (same like you)
You can always get genetic screening if you're really worried on that front. Or both of you could talk to a thyroid specialist and they will put your mind at rest with stats and what not! Best thing you can do is to get a really great health team around you, that's what I did and it's the best thing I did. They will make sure you're strong before you attempt conceiving and thats the most important thing. Lots of women have thyroid issues and go onto having healthy multiple births x
thank you for information
Is your babies healthy?!
yes!
@@beckyocole 💓🙏🙌👏
How can you get pregnant with hypothyroidism? I was diagnosed after having my son.... he’s now 8 months and I really want another baby.
How much was your anti TPO levels?
I actually can't remember, so sorry! I do know that the consultant was very careful to regulate to a certain point before she gave the go-ahead to try and get pregnant.
Can you please share your doctor’s contact?
I just work through the NHS but their are lots of great drs- Aviva Romm and Dr Jolene Brighten both look amazing
Lyvo-thyroxine
How long did it take you to get pregnant? How many months?
Becky Cole Vlogs Thank you very much for your reply!
No worries Nina! Good luck! :) x

Please be concise and do preparation before the video (names of meds and specialists etc). Otherwise the video becomes annoying and your credibility goes down the drain.
