Just saw her open for the Indigo Girls on their Look Long tour and I’m going again because I was so blown away! it was like getting two shows for one and I’ve discovered my new musical obsession (not a stalker). I’ve been singing her music all week and am looking forward to hearing much more from Lucy!
I’ve seen you perform live a few times, usually with your dad or your brother, but I did drive up from Naples in November to see you headline at Eddie’s Attic. I must agree with Wendy Eisenberg - you sing like an angel and should get more attention. I hope to get to see you perform in April.
Lucy gets the least attention and has the best voice of all the wainwrights. I think her voice sounds like an angel. I met her once at a concert of Rufus's and I told her she should have been the featured artist rather than her always always her brother. I am a major Rufus fan but I told her she wasn't getting the attention sh e deserved. Remember me Lucy? you were at a fold-up table and I was the woman who wouldn't let go. I really wish you would tour more. It was right after you stopped teaching. "I'm not coming back" Also your presence on the internet is less than Tracy Chapmans' and people don't even remember what happened to her after "Fast Car". You need to have better PR and find away to take the place you deserve in music history. YOu need to tour more and not just as Rufus' back up singer or standing in the backround next to your Dad,..................Wishing you well and much acclaim ...a Fan.
Well, when it comes to voices, I really think it's a matter of taste - Martha and Rufus definitely take more risks, Martha is the most versatile and Rufus has the widest range, Lucy has the clearest singing voice... To be honest....as much as I like her voice and the style she sings in, in my opinion the new songs are not very memorable - I really liked "Last time" though...in general she needs more material to make herself better known, but it seems to me (judging from interviews) she is not a fame-seeking person (like her siblings ;-) and maybe not totally unhappy with the place she is in right now.
Lyrics: Sometimes I see your favorite shot It's one you wanted, but you never got It was of me but not me I've been busy counting the days The seasons stack up but the well remains And that's about you But not you And some things that I want to say Aren't survivable Or advisable Like, "Happy birthday heroin," But God... how I loved you And how I still do. I could have roamed with you another round Thousands of feet above the ocean's ground After the dark and eastern sun Another one... Would it have been more of the very same? Hugging hairpin turns from the outside lane Some beauty's views are never done The West is won But some drives I've been due to take Aren't advisable Or survivable It's the Million Dollar Highway on a snowy day It's how I had to leave It's how I longed to stay It's that some things that I want to say Aren't survivable Or advisable Like, "Happy birthday heroin," But God... how I loved you And how I still do.
Awesome song and video. So strong and real.

This song is very important to me... Just want to say thank you for making something that I needed, and love.

A voice from Heaven ....

"I was the woman who wouldn't let go"
Not a red flag at all.
I totally agree 100% come to England again.

She is wonderful .....
We can be her P.R. She is wonderful.
Can't wait to held the cd in my hands and play it whenever I want to!
Lyrics:
Sometimes I see your favorite shot
It's one you wanted, but you never got
It was of me
but not me
I've been busy counting the days
The seasons stack up but the well remains
And that's about you
But not you
And some things that I want to say
Aren't survivable
Or advisable
Like, "Happy birthday heroin,"
But God... how I loved you
And how I still do.
I could have roamed with you another round
Thousands of feet above the ocean's ground
After the dark and eastern sun
Another one...
Would it have been more of the very same?
Hugging hairpin turns from the outside lane
Some beauty's views are never done
The West is won
But some drives I've been due to take
Aren't advisable
Or survivable
It's the Million Dollar Highway on a snowy day
It's how I had to leave
It's how I longed to stay
It's that some things that I want to say
Aren't survivable
Or advisable
Like, "Happy birthday heroin,"
But God... how I loved you
And how I still do.
Thank you
Can’t wait for the cd!
Magnificent and highly resonant for me. Dearly need the lyrics as they appear to be nowhere online. Can't distinguish all.
❤️❤️❤️
Lucy completely kicked serious arse last night in Fayetteville. Wow! Stole the show from the Indigo Girls ... at least for me :)
