I found him through Colors - blew my head clean off. Started the addiction to him... Same with very other one mentioned here tho! This one, Mahogany sessions but the 'Tiny Desk Concert' is outta this world stunning! I read the information underneath today and they couldn't have praised him any more than they did, explaining his plans, actions, his dedication to get the sound they wanted - Flew in early to do rehearsals with the (??) Gospel Choir that he'd managed to get also. EDIT - & Vevo lift.
I always wondered why he didn't swear in that one, now makes sense. Seems such a good soul. Like 'Sophie's choice" to pick one...

My wife and I traveled to Ireland in February of 2019 for our 27th anniversary. We were in a small café in Enniscrone(sp?) when Dermot came on the radio. I asked the staff if that was him and if they could turn it up. I'd never heard this particular song before but his voice is distinctive. The staff was happy that an old hick from Arkansas in the States could appreciate great music. And I do.

I've always interpreted the pauses as him remembering and reminiscing on what moved him to write, sing, and play those songs in the first place.
E.g: the long pause after Moments Passed to me feels like Dermot is remembering the relationship that originally moved him to make that song.
Overall, just amazing music from a hard working artist that pours his heart and soul into every recording and loves every waking moment of it.

How it must feel to be a bird
    Roamin' lonely over sea air
How it must feel to be a bird
    London, Paris, underneath
And I'll wait on my own
    (Ooh, hmm, ooh)
And I couldn't tell you enough that I'm sorry
And no, you couldn't tell me enough that you love me
But she's bringin' the moon and stars to me
    Damn permanent reverie
And even though this life, this love is brief
I've got some people who carry me
Wasn't it love as soon as we knew each other properly?
Livin' 'bout half right 'til a certain person got to me
Nothin' is secret, everythin's sacred, how it ought to be
Under the moonlight on a clear night
On rooftops is where I want to be
    Sometimes I'm like a child, that's somethin' I can't release
Dreams of her comin' home, sweet home
And I'm tellin' you home is so sweet
Said you reminded me of the summertime, and I still mean that
In a full room, I'm the only one she's smilin' at
So wouldn't you let me know if you were thinkin' less of me?
    That's what she asked me
What was promised, what we both agreed
But truthfully, if you ever go
You'll drop me straight to Hell, the 7th circle
And I was talkin' with you earlier
We were open and vulnerable, it was wonderful
I, I used to dream that you would talk to me
I used to dream that you would talk to me
And I couldn't tell you enough that I'm sorry
And no, you couldn't tell me enough that you love me
But she's bringin' the moon and stars to me
    Damn permanent reverie
And even though this life, this love is brief
I've got some people who carry me
You know that feelin' when you think your heart is gonna come right out through your shirt?
Get it a couple times a year
But I've been gettin' it more often with her
Now when I'm face to face with death, I'll grab his throat
And ask him, "How does it hurt?"
Up in those golden moments, growin' old too quickly
    Was he thinkin' of her?
But she's bringin' the moon and stars to me
    Damn permanent reverie
And even though this life, this love is brief
I've got some people who carry me

I came from a broken family, we get separated by our father since I was 4 years old. Though I came from a broken family and no one stands for us only my mom still God is good to me and to my family because He complete me as whole, He allow me to experience the love of the Greatest Father. And He is the One my Father in Heaven. Though there were time when problem comes I remember how my father left us and I felt some anger to him why he do this to us... and that's why we suffer.. but I realize everything.. I realized that to praise God even in bad times not just on good times.. I realized to worship Him despite of everything and to thank Him though whatever it happens.. I'm maybe a fatherless here in this earth but I have a loving Father and always there beside me that will never leave me nor forsaken me. A Father that will never change His love for me!

From listening to the songs on my radio to hearing a live version, you can really see the difference. On the recorded songs, you cant see how deeply he connects with the music. Yes there is emotion in those, but when you see him singing it now, it all affects him, and you can tell how deeply he means every word he's singing and I absolutely love that. Some artists just sing their songs how it is on the album, but he sings the songs with every ounce of emotion and rawness that comes through him with these songs. Its breathtaking.

It’s like you’ve sung parts of my mind for me , you have a beautiful gift . I’m singing with you , I stumbled across you while worked my early shift cleaning a bar at 5 am made me think of my beautiful family and my love , watched the sunrise and walked home eating a stolen croissant half hungover from too much wine the night before , but in a dreamy bliss from the few blissful minutes of escape . Thank you

Been listening to dermot since I stumbled across “glory” on TH-cam completely by accident and it was honestly a life changer, I have a hectic life but every evening I take myself to van for an hour or so and I sing as loud as I can (if you’re reading this and you get restless in the evenings give it a try) never heard lyrics that I can relate too like his songs and this acoustic set blows my Mind EVERYTIME I play it.... “I’ve got some people who’ll carry me” 👌

How it must feel to be a bird
    Roamin' lonely oversea air
How it must feel to be a bird
    London, Paris, underneath
And I'll wait on my own
    (Ooh, hmm, ooh)
    [Chorus]
And I couldn't tell you enough that I'm sorry
And no, you couldn't tell me enough that you love me
But she's bringin' the moon and stars to me
    Damn permanent reverie
And even though this life, this love is brief
I've got some people who carry me
    [Verse 2]
Now wasn't it love soon as we knew each other properly?
Livin' 'bout half right 'til a certain person got to me
Nothin' is secret, everythin's sacred, how it ought to be
Under the moonlight on a clear night
On rooftops is where I want to be
    Sometimes I'm like a child, that's somethin' I can't release
Dreams of her comin' home, sweet home
And I'm tellin' you, home is so sweet
Said you reminded me of the summertime, and I still mean that
In a full room, I'm the only one she's smilin' at
So wouldn't you let me know if you were thinkin' less of me?
    That's what she asked me
What was promised, what we both agreed
But truthfully, if you ever go
You'll drop me straight to Hell, the 7th circle
And I was talkin' with you earlier
We were open and vulnerable, it was wonderful
I, I used to dream that you would talk to me
I used to dream that you would talk to me
