Pintail Longboards "Just for Fun" by Original Skateboards

  • Check out the Pintail Longboards by Original Skateboards here:
    originalskateb...
    Original Pro Aleix Gallimo takes a break from the European IGSA tour (pre-Kosokov) to have some pintail fun in the sun.
    Aleix is rocking an Original Pintail 46 with a slightly... modified... tail. If you ever get the chance to hit Barcelona in the summer time, do it, though we can't necessarily recommend kickflips in sandals. Axel Serrat man's the camera with Aleix behind the cut.

      I know right?
      I mean damn I would kill to be in spain shredding that beach road with Aleix again. Good people with the right attitude and thankfully they go over the first hump with Covid-19 (wish I could say the same for us in the U.S.)
      Regardless if you are holed up stuck in the house the way I am definitely ring the 'Alert All' bell. We are releasing new videos but TH-cam isn't showing the alerts to our subscribers.
      Here's me starting to build a proto-lab in the garage where we started Original in 2002: th-cam.com/video/8s-M0Wz5MzE/w-d-xo.html
      Keep in touch dude!

    Your height and weight are definitely essentials when it comes to picking out a board! There's so many boards to choose from though, and they're all meant for specific types of riding. Could you let me know what type of riding you're interested in doing? Are you a beginner? Are you looking to cruise and carve? Maybe do some freestyle, or high speed downhill? This will help narrow down the choices! -Lindsay

    11 years ago when this video was uploaded, was the first time I began dreaming about someday to start learn skating on a longboard.
    After all these years, i've finally bought one, and i think i'm improving good. Also i'm probably the only Longboard guy in my tiny town, so i guess i hold a special title. i'll be the only, and the best Cruisier in town. 😎

    • @originalskateboards
      @originalskateboards  ปีที่แล้ว

      That may be exactly how all of this started. There were literally zero people on a longboard in our town when we figured... Hey fuck it, let's make something different?
      I guess the most important thing is just doing what gets you through to the next day, the next and possibly far more important piece is doing, everyday, what will get us through whatever life throws at us in the future.
      When that's just putting your feet on a board... Things get a lot easier. Thanks for the reminder to get out there before it gets dark!

    • @jankolbe2879
      @jankolbe2879 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Anna Phelan If dancing is your main goal then I would not go with a pintail shaped board tbh. They are great for cruising, carving, maybe sliding and downhill if they're stiff but I would look for a specific dancer board with more space to walk back and forth and maybe tail and nose if you'd like to add some shuvits and tricks like that to your repertoire.

    • @annaphelan635
      @annaphelan635 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jan Kolbe I was thinking of a Dervish Sama, which can be used as a dancing board, but I'm still deciding on this one, or the Dervish. I love going down hills, and cruising but I really want to take up dancing, and the board I have at the moment isn't great for hills, nor dancing. (It's too small and it speed wobbles) So I really don't know :|

    • @jankolbe2879
      @jankolbe2879 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recently purchased the Gravity 43 drop kick which is a really nice all around board. Your requirements are pretty versatile as a dancer tends to be more of a flex board while a downhill board is more stiff. The 43 drop kick might be a good choice to combine all of those, as it's a medium flex board which has some space to dance on while being dropped which is nice for commuting. It also has a kicktail for tricks and when you're standing closer to the trucks it gets a lot less flexy which is nice for higher speeds. You might wanna check that out. I wanted to get into dancing and freestyle tricks while loving the feel of a pintail and that board has been a lot of fun in the last weeks for me :)

    As someone who enjoys living as much in their flip-flops as possible, Aleix is my hero! I bought a pair of shoes just for skating. They're not going to get much use for that now though. A big pintail and flip flops, that pretty much screams summer to me.

      Aleix has a world cup victory to his name. If he wants to skate in flops, my guess is he knows what he's doing.
      That said, you aren't going to go out and do this just because you saw it here, and I sure as hell am not, my guess is no one else is either. Skate for fun and don't take this stuff so seriously, sometimes you gotta go outside the box.

    Hey Luke,
    Thats awesome to hear man. I don't think any of us expected to be part of something that would have that sort of impact on people, but I guess we should have. Skateboarding was the biggest part of what kept me rolling when I was younger, great to hear you have a similar sort of relationship to fall back on ; )
    Takes one day to build and generally 2 to 5 days from there to arrive (depending on where you are in the country). East coast is 1 to 2 day delivery, west is 4 to 5 days.

    This board is simply amazing for it's price. I got the big 46 a little over a month ago and I have been turning down car rides from friends just to go places on my pintail.
    Words are useless in trying to express how nimble this big boy is. It's smooth, fast, and sometimes feels like I'm carving pavement like snow. If you've been wanting a cruiser, I can't really recommend this board enough. I love it.

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Always good to have both Jul.
    You can never do everything you can do on a skateboard on a longboard and you can never do everything you do on a longboard on a skateboard. So while it's all skating, MOST of us need more than one board to accomplish all of the different sorts of riding we want to do. But having a versatile quiver is a good thing not a bad thing! Have fun on that skate deck and maybe have a look at one of the decks from us over here at Original Skateboards next time around : )

    You can ride anything you want to ride that's for sure. There are lots of people who like shorter boards or longer boards, it is a matter of opinion but also effects performance. As a smaller rider that pintail 46 is going to be super big, if it was me I would go smaller but again, its all about you and what you like, no one else is going to be riding that thing as much as you will.

    Hey Noah,
    Thats very similar to the deck I taught my girlfriend to slide on.
    The thing to remember is that if you just got on a board, it takes practice to understand how to fully utilize its capabilities (even everything that happens BEFORE sliding). Once you have a full grasp on carving super hard, and controlling your speed on the hill, you get get into a focus on sliding. That said, knowing that you WANT to slide is big motivation to focus hard on the rest of the ride. Have fun!

    Yeah man, you can totally swap over that truck / wheel setup, no problem at all. Swapping everything at once will give you a feel for the differences in boards, since you aren't changing anything else. You shouldnt have trouble with wheel bite etc, we already allowed a ton of clearance there!

    Aleix is rocking Otangs here but has recently swapped teams and I believe is now working with Seismic. Both great companies, both great wheels!

  • @originalskateboards
    @originalskateboards  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The number next to the name on Original boards stands for the number of inches (sort of). Sometimes we have a board like the Arbiter 36 that is actually 36.9 inches long. But it is always the length of the board in inches (roughly).
    So! The Pintail 37 is 6 inches shorter (thats a lot) than the Pintail 43 and 3 inches shorter (a good bit) than the Pintail 40.
    Also, Pintail 37 and Pintail 43 will be stiffer based on wheelbase than the Pintail 40, so if you want flex, go with the Pintail 40.

    If you like big boards it was a great move.
    As a smaller rider you may have trouble turning many boards on the longer side, the Pintail 46 will NOT be one of those. Assuming you got the super wide S10 Original trucks on there you will be fully able to carve and control the deck (which is pretty awesome for someone your size, on a 46 inch long deck). This has a lot to do with the trucks and less to do with the board, BUT, it is a really great big board / big carving setup for a small rider.

    A Pintail sounds like it would be great for you! They come in 4 different sizes depending on your height. The Pintail 37 and 40 will be a bit easier for carving, and the 43 and 46 will be a bit more stable for cruising or smaller hills. You may also want to check out the Derringer 28 which is a mini longboard and a great carving board! -Lindsay

    Hey WillyD,
    Are you thinking straight cruising / carving around or are you going to get into sliding and downhill and that sort of stuff? For cruising and carving I would take a look at the Pintail 43 or Pintail 46. For some cruising but also sliding etc, I would lean more toward the Freeride 41, or Drop Freeride 41, or even the Drop Freeride 44 if you like big boards. The Arbiter 36 or Maven 35 would be good options also, but they are more geared toward straight DH / Sliding performance.

    Sounds like a Pintail would be a great board for you, assuming that you are focused more on carving than on sliding. Original Pintail (probably the Pintail 40 for someone your size!) are absolutely amazing carvers, particularly with Original trucks.
    That being said they are not great for holding out big slides. Original trucks let you carve tighter, and actually make sliding initiation (the start of the slide easier) but you give up stability and the ability to hold long slides.

    the Pintail 40 would be a great board for you to start on. It's easy to push with since it's low and stable, and is meant for cruising and carving. The S8 trucks will help you learn how to carve easily because they are spring loaded and initiate carves way easier than a bushing truck. -Lindsay

    Sure do. Depends on how you order them.
    One thing to remember is that we have a pretty in depth tutorial on assembly.
    While you can always choose assembled or not from Original, as a beginner its a great idea to learn your setup and whats important (as far as hardware etc) by assembling your deck first time around!

    Aleix was able to ride with out sandals because, well, he is Aleix, and it's Spain. Spain makes your longboarding better, even spanish sandals improve skill.
    Paris + Pintails is a great match, I rode Aleix's deck and had a lot of fun on it. Snag a low duro bushing and its a lot of fun on the flats.

    Hey Retro,
    That form of the board (no long tail) is not available for sale, BUT you can make one, just cut the tail off!
    Thats why the rider (Aleix) did in this video, he cut the tail off with a saw. You can do the same : )
