- A chronic illness diagnosis comes with several challenges, including extensive treatment and stigmatization. According to the CDC, 6 in 10 American adults have at least one chronic condition and 4 in 10 adults have two or more. Hollywood isn't exempt from this statistic, as several celebrities have come forward to share their stories about living with a chronic illness like diabetes or multiple sclerosis.

Some of us have not one, but up to 10-12 chronic illnesses . We suffer in silence . Kudos to those people for dealing with it all and still getting up every day to embrace a new day ❤
I’m 60 am suffer from Industrial deafness including tinnitus, type 2 diabetes, degenerative bone disease, cardiomyopathy, and anxiety disorder and yet I still feel pretty lucky.
So why advertise it. TMI
@@johncoe6304 Ok so because I’m not a celebrity or famous I should suffer in silence then. I’m sorry your highness.
@@johncoe6304 Try not to finish life out being a dick.
@@johncoe6304It's not like he's putting an ad in the paper, guy. He's commenting on a video about people facing some of the same things. I personally thought his comment inspires hope.
Asperger’s is not a disease! It is a difference in cerebral processing.
Aspergers is not recognised as a medical condition anymore.
Asperger's never was considered a "medical" condition, as in curable or treatable with drugs, surgery, or M.D. intervention. It's basically a personality/socialization coping disorder. Asperger's was recognized as a stand alone disorder for many years but sometime during the 20-teens, Asperger's was moved to the ASD category because people with Asperger's shared many traits with those diagnosed on Autism spectrum of disorders. @@tonybarrett8543
@@olripper2700Aspergers was a term created by a n*zi and straight up just is a form of autism.
Yes it is
Gilbert Gottfried died from his illness last year.
R.I.P. Toby Keith 1961 - 2024
Dustin Diamond died almost three years ago.
I know right
They did have his date of death there.
1977-2021, above his name
You forgot Christina Applegate~ MS😔
No, they got her.
I have ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. It isn’t chronic, so I wish people would stop treating it like it is!!! I may have some problems, but it isn’t life-altering in drastic ways!! P
Chronic simply means its not going away, doesn’t mean its bad
I am dyslexic and have ADHD…it is not an illness or chronic or a disease. I worked twice as hard in school and I have an advanced college degree
That's not what chronic in a medical context means. It means disease and ASD is not a disease, an individual is born with ASD and has no chance of it being cured, as of today, as opposed to disease which can develop at anytime and or possibly be cured. Aspergers is no longer recognised as a medical condition, an individual that was given a aspergers diagnosis may want to consult the doctor just for peace of mind. They will either be diagnosed Autistic or referred for other diagnostics. The USA over diagnosed, at a ridiculous rate, aspergers among other conditions.
Having a grandson with autism, I can honestly say it's a different way of being, don't like the 'illness' stigma.
@@TeriHargraveartist I completely agree with you. My younger brother has severe autism and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people take or try to take advantage of him because he simply doesn’t know better. I’ve had my fair share of people do the same thing with me and it really makes me sick that people think they can take advantage of people like us because they see us differently.
I am not a celebrity but I have Ménière’s disease. It’s an inner ear disorder that causes constant tinnitus, vertigo, nausea & hearing loss. It is the absolute worst because you never know when you’re going to have an attack until the symptoms of an attack is coming on, an attack can last several hours rendering you completely debilitated, when the vertigo subsides your body feels terribly fatigued, it takes hours to recover.
Terrible illness, my brother has it
Hang in there. I have chronic BPPV which hits me every six months but I just try to take it day by day.
“Heavenly Father please help them to get well soon until they’ll be feel better,
Amen”
Amen lord God almighty
Yeah because that will work.

Please don't, there is nothing you can do for us who deal with chronic illness...and please never try to claim to want to "heal" autism.
Jarad Kushner missed his calling as a mortician.
I have Hashimoto's disease easily controlled with medication which is probably very cheap even in the US but free here in the UK. I also have asthma and a minor heart condition, both well controlled by medication. So what?
It still amazes me that Magic Johnson has had HIV since at least '91 (that's when he made it public). He must be taking extra care of himself to still be living.
Wow 😯 jeniffer Lopez , Taylor swift , Angelina Jolie , Megan fox , Gwen Stefani, brad Pitt , will smith , snoop dogg ,, just to make a few ; these celebs don’t suffer for anything. 👍🏼
I have a chronic illness bipolar and borderline personality disorder and eating disorder
What illness, may I ask if you're cool with it. I have POTS and sleep apnea, as well as A fib
Suffering with any illness deserves highlighting and if people see celebrities have an illness they have it can give them inspiration and courage, like what is achievable. I have Fibromyalgia, Stage 4 endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, have a stent from a pulmonary embolism, May Thurner Syndrome, Asthma, anxiety, gut issues, misophonia, keratoconus, and tachycardia, most developed since I came to London.
Yeah out of all disabilities, chronic illness is rarely talked about or represented. I deal with POTS, possible EDS, sleep apnea, and A FIB. I used to have superventricular tachycardia before I had a surgery to correct it.
As for mental, I deal with ADHD, depression, OCD, panic attacks, anxiety, and the ADHD comes with sensory processing issues like mysophonia.
Some of these are not a illness and you put the wrong Michelle Williams pictures(note the picture is the Michelle Williams from destiny’s child)
We all have problems throughout our life , but i don't think for one moment Alopecia should be termed a Chronic illness !
Dustin Diamond lost the fight . I remember those raunchy videos he did . As I responded on a thread ,” He wanted to get rid of his Saved By The Bell image . He succeeded ! “
Not really. When people hear the name Dustin Diamond, all they remember is Screech.
@@allenmack5589 I said image !
@dagnabbit6187 OK. When people see an image of Dustin Diamond, all they see is Screech. I'm a man and even I know nothing about his "adult" film career.
I have asthma, endometriosis, and an anxiety disorder. I also have a sight disability but I still march on.
Hashimoto and Graves are not debilitating diseases in these times with excellent well proven drugs. Neither is Hiatal Hernia which they mention as an aside, everytime I get a scan.
Yes, they are chronic disease. Chronic does not mean debilitating.
I've had a hiatal hernia for over 25 years now.

I have sarcoidosis and it’s killing me but very few doctors know anything about it.
Not downing any of these people definitely not saying anything bad about the dead it’s always sad to lose anyone. But, this was done 3 weeks from when I am viewing it. This is supposed to be famous people DEALING with chronic disease, not dealt. If you want to do those that dealt and have passed you could make a video a week and a half long.
Slight update to this list, Toby Keith passed
And I agree, adhd is definitely not a chronic illness, and I don't think infertility is either
I saw at least three people on this list who are now dead.
They were probably still alive when they first compiled this list.

@@peachesj4748 I realize that. What I'm saying is, they were probably still alive when this list was first put together.
Screech .... who else
That is a very serious disease.
Surprised at the large proportion of younger people. Once you get to 60 it’s par for the course, but I didn’t expect many under that age to have a chronic illness.
Consequences of drug abuse?
Rip dustin
I had childhood epilepsy and it was traumatic.
Diabetes runs in my family! I'm a diabetic. My brother has autism and he's a diabetic too.
The music really is most of putting ,
Poor ole Frankie Muniz so young to have those.. 😮 My Mother has those. You can't make her laugh or get excited or she'll go into a TIA.
Doesn’t TIA put you at high risk for a major stroke???
@@pamelamccants3611 Most definitely. My mother passed last March after having a more significant stroke. She had had major ones previous to those TIA's.
@@frankenz66 my deepest condolences
@@pamelamccants3611 Thank you, Ma'am! She'd had a long go though. Almost 89. She was tired of suffering as she had dementia at the stage she was still semi-aware of things and the fact she could no longer remember so much.
There are some celebrities on here that are no longer fighting chronic diseases.
They either died or recovered, right.
For the ones already deceased it plainly said AGED
Hasta yo tengo Diabetes
You forgot Toni Braxton. She has lupus
Thanks for not putting bogus Long covdi on there.
Perhaps you should have titled it Chronic Conditions. As some have pointed out some of these aren't diseases, rather things that require adjustments in their lives that most don't have to make.
It was titled illnesses, not diseases. So I think it was aptly titled as it is.

Boa sorte a todos.
A couple are already dead.
It says so. Their years are written there.
I love that mental illness is represented, but FFS ADHD and Asperger's are not "illnesses" the way that bipolar disorder is.
Aspergers isn't even a term anymore, it's just autism
ALL SO VERY SAD
We all have some sort of problems celebrities are not any different or better than any of us,
*I used to have ingrown toenails. That was painful*
As someone who suffers from the worst version of autoimmune alopecia, Jada more than likely doesn't have the autoimmune version. That "blad spot"? It's probably a scar from a brow lift because Alopecia Areata usually doesn't present with patches in that shape.
I've got them all beat... I have M.S, Congestive heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy, Atrial Fibrillation, Type 2 Diabetes, C.O.P.D (Chronic Bronchitis) Graves Disease, Depression, Liver and Kidney Disease, I had endometrial Cancer... and intestinal and digestive issues. My timer can go off at any moment...So when I see someone like Kim Kardashian with Psoriasis I'm like "whatever" we should all be so lucky.
Let's not turn this into a competition, ok? It's not fair and is dismissive of other people's problems.
Are you still alive 😳
"Depression" is a disease now ?
It's not a disease or a chronic illness, but it is a mental illness that is chronic and usually when it's clinical it's lifelong.
Having diagnosed Depression is not the same as temporarily being depressed. Diagnosed means lifelong struggle. It quite a chronic mental illness
My cousin has the same thing as jada
