I’m very interested how Secret Invasion is going to convert the skrulls to villains since Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home portrays them as so trustworthy they replace and report back to Fury
I mean, it would make sense that a species wouldn't be a hivemind that all have the same allegiances. Humans certainly aren't, so I don't see why Skrulls would be that much different
My theory is that Talos is just using Nick Furry and migrating Skrulls into Earth right under his nose. He seems to be “all buddy buddy” with Fury so when the betrayal does come it stings more so and Fury will feel like the biggest idiot for trusting them for so long.

That being said yes you are right the key to this kind of infiltrator creature is getting the mark to trust you. I suspect the scrolls are not villains during secret invasion the villains are the kree and xenophobia. But also no not all skrulls are the same not all of them work with talos.

I personally think Maria Hill is a Skrull, not in the way that she is being impersonated by Soren as seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home but the very identity of Maria Hill being fabricated by Nick Fury for Soren so she can act in human society and become a member of Shield.

I doubt any Maria hill fully understood the nature of the scarlet witch. (Although no one realises that until she makes the hex.) I honestly hope Sharon Carter is a skrull. The difference in her personality between Civil War and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier seemed jarring, so I would like to believe that they’re two different people.

Happy Hogan went from Tony’s guy to Peter’s guy, and he’s dating Aunt May, who Skrull Jarvis did in the comics. He has access to Stark tech and the Stark Vault, he’s got access to the CEO of Stark Industries (Pepper) and Spider-Man’s only family, he’s got access to Rhodey more than likely. Plus, metatextually, he is THE founder of the MCU itself, so it’d be a big moment. Happy is a skrull.
Spoilers for Eternals We did see what happened to Kingo… he gets taken by Arishem along with Sersi and Phastos. I don’t think Arishem would mistake a skrull for the real Kingo. This one would make sense if “Kingo” now shows up on Earth with no explanation

I don't like it because the point and intention of that was that there had to be an Eternal who disagreed with what they were doing, because it is something that prevents other life from rising, but they don't want to necessarily fight their family for it. That middle ground is necessary

Hmm, I think there’s some potential between the Skrulls and the Eternals. In the comics, the Skrulls ARE descendants of the Deviants of their homeworld, after all. So there’s your imperative for the Eternals to get involved, above and beyond their new found willingness to help outside of that stricture.
In the comics some of the skrulls had no idea they were skrulls and beloved completely they were who they were pretending to be until activated like sleeper agents
Really? It actually got old for me pretty quickly and felt like a way to pad out an 18-minute video. I like Nando's content, but generally I want to focus on his theories and not on the comedy/skit aspects; there are lots of TH-camrs who do that already and plenty of places to get comedy-wrapped content.
Sharon Carter was my first thought. They kinda character-assassinated her in Bucky Sam Power Hour... And like, she's not a character who I really care much about if she's OOC, but it was very odd and I wish they hadn't done it. Making her a Skrull would smoothly retcon that with a fresh start.
I feel like the MCU is taking the Kitchen Sink approach to the Phase 4, which is a mistake IMHO. As opposed to narrowing in on a single story post-Snap, it seems like they're throwing things every which way to outdo themselves: Secret Invasion, Kang and The Multiverse, The Celestials / Starfox, the Thunderbolts, etc. The cleverness of the Infinity Gauntlet is it allowed a lot of creative freedom for each individual "MacGuffin" while building up to the larger Infinity Gauntlet "MacGuffin". Anything resembling that would seem derivative, but why not *focus* on one key idea? Like Secret Invasion? Or a Thunderbolts-esque / Dark Avengers arc, where they build a roster of villains indiviual film by film to fight the Avengers when they get together?
well.. because they can, because they're so big now and they figured out how to constantly make high quality content, some more than others, but overall maintaining a certain standard.. why do you think this will hurt them in the long run? because other than the fact that the infinity stones made the infinity saga easy to follow even for people that didn't really watch all the movies, I can't tell what will be the problem with diversification and just trying out all of these different stories
@@ralucaioanagrigoras1489 They're trying all these BIG different stories AT ONCE. The Avengers fought off the Secret Invasion, Kang, and the Thunderbolts / Dark Avengers at different points in time in their comic run. Working with 3-4 ongoing narrative threads could make the MCU convoluted..
So far at least no individual work is doing more than one of those plotlines, and some of these plotlines may actually be connected. If Val is a skrull, then the villain team she is recruiting in FaWS and BW could be a step in the Secret Invasion.
They're, like the 20th century comic industry itself, suffering from their own success. The MCU succeeded, in large part, b/c unlike the comics you did not need decades of experience to follow one story nor did you need a "crash course" to jump into any one movie. Now? They've built up such a considerable fanbase that they seem more interested in milking it dry than how to expand into new audiences if/when the kids who grew up on the MCU outgrow it.
The thing I’m curious about the Secret Invasion series is how they’re going to pull off the tension of wondering which of our favorite characters are skulls. It seems like to properly do that, the series needs to be a pretty big crossover that includes a lot of different characters so you never know who it will be. It’s such an easy way to make the show much more interesting and my fear is that it’s just going to be a small scale series where Nick Fury discovers that just 2 or 3 crossover characters were skulls for a little while. I just really hope Marvel goes all out with the concept
Wong is totally a skrull, he's a fan favourite that will genuinely shock audiences, he has connections to everyone, he's not a main character so people won't complain about wasted time or character development, he's definitely done some shady stuff (leaving before the plot starts in Infinity War and No Way Home, training Abomination) and a skrull could probably mimic his powers using a magical artifact or a potion.
it would be cool if the Skrulls were holding all the Inhumans prisoner cause they see them as Kree weapons or maybe they were trying to replicate their powers so when secret invasion ends it just can lead to this new powerful faction.

Have they definately comfirmed secret invasion is a Skrull invasion? Given how they've positioned the Skrulls and where the MCU is going it makes more sense that it's a multuverse invasion with key figures from a dark timeline replacing those in the main universe
Right. Age of Ultron has basically nothing to do with the comic storyline of the same name aside from the villain. The films have shown they don't feel beholden to the comics they take the names from.
Karun could also be a Skrull for a lot of the reasons you said for Kingo, with the added bonus of avoiding complications regarding whether Skrulls could copy Eternal powers.
Shuri's a Skrull: 1) Strategically sensible for the Skrull to put an operative in a position of significance over the planet's most powerful nation and most advanced technology. 2) An opportune moment for her to be supplanted by a Skrull was, sort of, foreshadowed in the films. She's a weird outlier at the end of Infinity War, as (I think?) the ONLY character involved in the movie to not be explicitly dusted or spared on screen. 3) Having essentially the planet's best scientist secretly be a Skrull creates a built-in plot excuse for why there's no 'technological scanning' solution to detecting Skrulls; as well as creating a plot point for why any counter measures they do have against Skrulls fail in the latter half of the film. 4) She'd be a great character to carry the funny, joking side of the Skrulls over to the villainous element of their race as well, and give this force some personality. Be kind of lame if Talos had a monopoly on all the fun Skrulls, and the bland stoic side characters of the MCU became bland stoic villains. 5) Picture the moment: when Justin Hammer, who started working with the Wakandans during the Blip, putting his mind and talent to work in a honest effort to help hold the seams of world together and atone for his past selfishness, and totally not steal any advanced Wakandan tech while he was at it, sees his boss turn green and finds out he's inadvertently been working for the alien invaders all along...and just rolls with it.
So am i the only one thinking Fury himself could be a skrull? He's leading a new agency that heavily features skrulls. He had an onscreen death and showed up alive later. He is probably the best connected person on the planet. He's the perfect target and he seemingly trusted the skrulls, making him an easy hit for them
There's also the fact that his eyescar in winter soldier is remarkably different to the one in secret invasion. Now that could just be a make up/budget choice, but it would be weird to have such a continuity error slip in a universe with this much oversight, especially since his scarred eye was part of a major scene before. (and imo looked better there but that's another discussion)

Shang-Chi's sister? She's certainly had the time to be switched, didn't seem that attached to her brother so might not be her, all the reasons Jon-Jon might be a Skrull AND this would give more reason for taking over her father's empire. Plus if she is this gives Shang a chance to come back to save her, making up for abandoning her for a decade.
What if the actual Nick Fury is the one behind secret invasion? He's already got an alliance with some skrulls, what if in his attempts to protect the world he is training skrulls in espionage and using them as a sort of advanced life model decoy. Which could also tie in to black widow because they could using the mind control on the skrull to keep them obedient, but to also make them fully believe they are person they are pretending to be. The skrull could feel betrayed by this and rebel and that could be the start of secret invasion as they choose to turn against sword and shield and invade for real.
Wanting to create a place for Skrull refugees on Earth without alerting the populace to the fact that aliens exist, Fury created a system to give Skrulls fake human identities they keep at all times.He lets the skrulls themselves manage the system, but a rogue faction wants to try and use it as a way to grab power.
I think Rhodes can be replaced by a skrull from after end game, he is probably a prime target given his position in the military and being an Avenger. Furthermore, he does not have any powers, making him easy to replace. But I think the most interesting part of secret invasion is that they had big-name superpowered heroes to be replaced as skrulls as well, so I will still say any heroes are fair game leading up to the secret invasion.
In one of your previous videos I liked Hulk to be a skrull. It makes a lot of sense. The transition to the smaller "smart" Hulk happens off screen and once we get smart Hulk we never really see Hulk fight again. We just see him going through motions maybe because the skrulls know they can't replicate his strength. I'm backing off this idea because she-hulk is happening. But I think it would make a lot of sense.
Can Skrulls access the memories of the people they transform themselves into? I don't think so. But if not, then a couple of these choices might not make sense, because without the memory of their lives their cover is easily blown. Especially someone like Kingo, who has thousands of years of memories, and if he were to make a choice that didn't fit his character the others would probably be able to tell something was off. Melina also needed to have memory of her life with Alexei, Natasha and Yelena, because they would definitely know something was up if she wasn't acting exactly like herself, but then again, a Skrull posing as Melina would have access to all their files and backgrounds, so they would've easily been able to learn about them. All the others I guess are up for grabs. The one I find really doubtful is Kingo, but who knows.
I feel like that slow motion shot of Sharon at the end was her turning into a Skrull, but they changed it at the last minute. That slow mo shot was so .... random and didn't fit the show at all.
It could be interesting if Zemo was a Scrull. Zemo is seemingly in the wind now, and if he comes back and is acting differently, it might not be immediately recognizable.
This trawling through MCU side characters for skulls reminds me of the joke about the drunk searching for his keys under the street light: the punchline being that he didn’t dropped his keys there, but that area is well lit.
I really disagree with Kingo. The rest are fine though, especially Sharon. Her research into the Supersoldier Serum could even tie into the Super Skrulls!
Perfect Skrull is Maria Hill - but only if Nick Fury knows she’s a Skrull. She grew up on the Skrull space station and joined SHEILD as an adult. Explains why she’s Nick Fury’s right hand woman who he absolutely knows he can trust and a super spy who can shape shift is perfect. Explains how she was able to sneak around in Winter Soldier. Explains why she joined the Avengers after SHEILD collapsed. Explains where she’s been since the Blip - working to rebuild with the other Skrulls or infiltrating the infiltrators to spy on them for Fury.
Kingo can't be a Skrull Because Skrulls can't copy abilities (as of yet in the mcu) and even if they can Kingo uses Cosmic Energy when he shoots beams... Alot of people cannot copy the power of cosmic. If he was a Skrull then wow

I’m not really a fan of the idea that *any* character of significance is a Skrull. Yeah I know that defeats the purpose of the premise of secret invasion, but if Milena or Sharon or Kingo etc have secretly just been aliens with completely separate motives to what we see them express in Black Widow, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Eternals, then there goes any of the interesting thematic or character work being done with them in those stories. Secret Invasion having a couple twists like that isn’t worth harming those projects like that, for me.
Yeah, all of what you said -- along with all of the "ooh, who could be a Skrull?!?!?!?!1!!!1??" speculation in general like in this video -- made the original comics "Secret Invasion" storyline _super duper annoying_ to me at the time. One of my big hopes from Talos & Co. in "Captain Marvel" having turned out to be decent folks was that they therefore _wouldn't_ do a "Secret Invasion" story. Kingo can't have been a skrull, the celestial grabbed him and the other remaining eternals on earth at the end of the movie from wherever they were on earth, so it's not just that he grabs whoever he saw at the moment
Doesn't really matter now, but they should have shown the Skrulls to be kinda evil & ruthless during the fighting in Captain Marvel. They went from not being able to be taken seriously to good guys & refugees. We needed the setup for a realistic double-cross or alternate faction of them. Nothing about them screams "invasion" at this point.
I feel like hyping up "who's a Skrull" is missing the clear middle eastern refugee/islamophobia parallel they setup in Captain Marvel I think they are probably using the name to elicit an expectation from the general public that the Skrulls are evil so they can make a point about scapegoating broad groups being a bad thing for society.
Olina makes the most sense to me, they have nick fury off planet and now control Earths metas. Getting ready for an epic war with the Cree. I hope the writers do it justice and corporate heads stay away.

Kingo was *SPOILERS FOR ETERNALS* Kingo was taken by Arishem at the end of the Eternals. I feel like Arishem would immediately detect that he wasn't one of his creations. And, since the Eternals are creations, it's possible that the Skrulls can't turn into them. They probably can, but hey.
I recently discovered Nando’s videos and just watched the oldest one that shows up on TH-cam: One Thing he Would Change about Sharon Carter in Civil War. Nando suggests that the filmmakers may have removed a subplot where Zemo mind-controlled Sharon into pushing the Avengers into direct conflict. But what if she was actually Zemo’s partner because she was a skrull back then? That would be an amazing twist that would semi-validate Nando’s theory and make Civil War even better in retrospect. Definitely my new head canon.

The most likely person to be replaced by a Skrull is a secondary character who does not possess any super powers or enhancements but whose proximity to the action allows them to influence events without necessarily drawing attention to themselves. Ahem: Happy Hogan.
Valentina and Sharon are likely candidates. Kingo is going to be tough though, he's not really available until Eternals 2 and Arishem would be probably able to recognize instantly if Kingo is an Eternals
I want Phineas Mason to be a Skrull. He’s The Tinkerer the brains behind The Vulture and all his who up to this point, as far as I know, has yet to be arrested. It would make sense if he were a Skrull scientist laying low convincing Tombs to get more powerful tech. All of Homecoming he’s telling Tombs that he’s getting ready for the Stark job, Tombs says no, and their business takes a hit.
Who I think are Skrulls: Contessa, Christine Everhart, Wong, Sharon Carter, Selvig, Darcy, a freed Widow (the one to kick off the story ala Elektra), Bill Foster, and whoever is the new president after Ellis.
You could still have Rhodes be a skrull; his original plan was the secret invasion, but he grew to genuinely care for Tony/ humanity (especially after he helped him learn to walk again) and he could be a catalyst that reveals the invasion plan to the heroes and gets the ball rolling on stopping them or something.

Hmm, I think there’s some potential between the Skrulls and the Eternals. In the comics, the Skrulls ARE descendants of the Deviants of their homeworld, after all. So there’s your imperative for the Eternals to get involved, above and beyond their new found willingness to help outside of that stricture.

Really? It actually got old for me pretty quickly and felt like a way to pad out an 18-minute video. I like Nando's content, but generally I want to focus on his theories and not on the comedy/skit aspects; there are lots of TH-camrs who do that already and plenty of places to get comedy-wrapped content.

Sharon Carter was my first thought. They kinda character-assassinated her in Bucky Sam Power Hour... And like, she's not a character who I really care much about if she's OOC, but it was very odd and I wish they hadn't done it. Making her a Skrull would smoothly retcon that with a fresh start.
I feel like the MCU is taking the Kitchen Sink approach to the Phase 4, which is a mistake IMHO. As opposed to narrowing in on a single story post-Snap, it seems like they're throwing things every which way to outdo themselves: Secret Invasion, Kang and The Multiverse, The Celestials / Starfox, the Thunderbolts, etc. The cleverness of the Infinity Gauntlet is it allowed a lot of creative freedom for each individual "MacGuffin" while building up to the larger Infinity Gauntlet "MacGuffin". Anything resembling that would seem derivative, but why not *focus* on one key idea? Like Secret Invasion? Or a Thunderbolts-esque / Dark Avengers arc, where they build a roster of villains indiviual film by film to fight the Avengers when they get together?
well.. because they can, because they're so big now and they figured out how to constantly make high quality content, some more than others, but overall maintaining a certain standard.. why do you think this will hurt them in the long run? because other than the fact that the infinity stones made the infinity saga easy to follow even for people that didn't really watch all the movies, I can't tell what will be the problem with diversification and just trying out all of these different stories
@@ralucaioanagrigoras1489 They're trying all these BIG different stories AT ONCE. The Avengers fought off the Secret Invasion, Kang, and the Thunderbolts / Dark Avengers at different points in time in their comic run. Working with 3-4 ongoing narrative threads could make the MCU convoluted..
So far at least no individual work is doing more than one of those plotlines, and some of these plotlines may actually be connected. If Val is a skrull, then the villain team she is recruiting in FaWS and BW could be a step in the Secret Invasion.

They're, like the 20th century comic industry itself, suffering from their own success. The MCU succeeded, in large part, b/c unlike the comics you did not need decades of experience to follow one story nor did you need a "crash course" to jump into any one movie. Now? They've built up such a considerable fanbase that they seem more interested in milking it dry than how to expand into new audiences if/when the kids who grew up on the MCU outgrow it.
The thing I’m curious about the Secret Invasion series is how they’re going to pull off the tension of wondering which of our favorite characters are skulls. It seems like to properly do that, the series needs to be a pretty big crossover that includes a lot of different characters so you never know who it will be. It’s such an easy way to make the show much more interesting and my fear is that it’s just going to be a small scale series where Nick Fury discovers that just 2 or 3 crossover characters were skulls for a little while. I just really hope Marvel goes all out with the concept
Wong is totally a skrull, he's a fan favourite that will genuinely shock audiences, he has connections to everyone, he's not a main character so people won't complain about wasted time or character development, he's definitely done some shady stuff (leaving before the plot starts in Infinity War and No Way Home, training Abomination) and a skrull could probably mimic his powers using a magical artifact or a potion.
Or the skrull is probably a mage themselves. The MCU should really explore alien magic.

Have they definately comfirmed secret invasion is a Skrull invasion? Given how they've positioned the Skrulls and where the MCU is going it makes more sense that it's a multuverse invasion with key figures from a dark timeline replacing those in the main universe
Right. Age of Ultron has basically nothing to do with the comic storyline of the same name aside from the villain. The films have shown they don't feel beholden to the comics they take the names from.

Karun could also be a Skrull for a lot of the reasons you said for Kingo, with the added bonus of avoiding complications regarding whether Skrulls could copy Eternal powers.
Shuri's a Skrull:
1) Strategically sensible for the Skrull to put an operative in a position of significance over the planet's most powerful nation and most advanced technology.
2) An opportune moment for her to be supplanted by a Skrull was, sort of, foreshadowed in the films. She's a weird outlier at the end of Infinity War, as (I think?) the ONLY character involved in the movie to not be explicitly dusted or spared on screen.
3) Having essentially the planet's best scientist secretly be a Skrull creates a built-in plot excuse for why there's no 'technological scanning' solution to detecting Skrulls; as well as creating a plot point for why any counter measures they do have against Skrulls fail in the latter half of the film.
4) She'd be a great character to carry the funny, joking side of the Skrulls over to the villainous element of their race as well, and give this force some personality. Be kind of lame if Talos had a monopoly on all the fun Skrulls, and the bland stoic side characters of the MCU became bland stoic villains.
5) Picture the moment: when Justin Hammer, who started working with the Wakandans during the Blip, putting his mind and talent to work in a honest effort to help hold the seams of world together and atone for his past selfishness, and totally not steal any advanced Wakandan tech while he was at it, sees his boss turn green and finds out he's inadvertently been working for the alien invaders all along...and just rolls with it.
Idk if i buy this, but Letitia Wright is supposedly severing her career with marvel, so this could be a way out for her..

So am i the only one thinking Fury himself could be a skrull? He's leading a new agency that heavily features skrulls. He had an onscreen death and showed up alive later. He is probably the best connected person on the planet. He's the perfect target and he seemingly trusted the skrulls, making him an easy hit for them
There's also the fact that his eyescar in winter soldier is remarkably different to the one in secret invasion. Now that could just be a make up/budget choice, but it would be weird to have such a continuity error slip in a universe with this much oversight, especially since his scarred eye was part of a major scene before. (and imo looked better there but that's another discussion)
Except Fury in Captain Marvel was already an ally of the Skrulls.

What if the actual Nick Fury is the one behind secret invasion? He's already got an alliance with some skrulls, what if in his attempts to protect the world he is training skrulls in espionage and using them as a sort of advanced life model decoy. Which could also tie in to black widow because they could using the mind control on the skrull to keep them obedient, but to also make them fully believe they are person they are pretending to be. The skrull could feel betrayed by this and rebel and that could be the start of secret invasion as they choose to turn against sword and shield and invade for real.
Wanting to create a place for Skrull refugees on Earth without alerting the populace to the fact that aliens exist, Fury created a system to give Skrulls fake human identities they keep at all times.He lets the skrulls themselves manage the system, but a rogue faction wants to try and use it as a way to grab power.

I think Rhodes can be replaced by a skrull from after end game, he is probably a prime target given his position in the military and being an Avenger. Furthermore, he does not have any powers, making him easy to replace. But I think the most interesting part of secret invasion is that they had big-name superpowered heroes to be replaced as skrulls as well, so I will still say any heroes are fair game leading up to the secret invasion.
In one of your previous videos I liked Hulk to be a skrull. It makes a lot of sense. The transition to the smaller "smart" Hulk happens off screen and once we get smart Hulk we never really see Hulk fight again. We just see him going through motions maybe because the skrulls know they can't replicate his strength. I'm backing off this idea because she-hulk is happening. But I think it would make a lot of sense.
Not exactly fighting, but using the gauntlet was a pretty impressive feat. An average Joe would’ve been pulverized.

Can Skrulls access the memories of the people they transform themselves into? I don't think so. But if not, then a couple of these choices might not make sense, because without the memory of their lives their cover is easily blown. Especially someone like Kingo, who has thousands of years of memories, and if he were to make a choice that didn't fit his character the others would probably be able to tell something was off. Melina also needed to have memory of her life with Alexei, Natasha and Yelena, because they would definitely know something was up if she wasn't acting exactly like herself, but then again, a Skrull posing as Melina would have access to all their files and backgrounds, so they would've easily been able to learn about them. All the others I guess are up for grabs. The one I find really doubtful is Kingo, but who knows.

Perfect Skrull is Maria Hill - but only if Nick Fury knows she’s a Skrull. She grew up on the Skrull space station and joined SHEILD as an adult. Explains why she’s Nick Fury’s right hand woman who he absolutely knows he can trust and a super spy who can shape shift is perfect. Explains how she was able to sneak around in Winter Soldier. Explains why she joined the Avengers after SHEILD collapsed. Explains where she’s been since the Blip - working to rebuild with the other Skrulls or infiltrating the infiltrators to spy on them for Fury.
Kingo can't be a Skrull Because Skrulls can't copy abilities (as of yet in the mcu) and even if they can Kingo uses Cosmic Energy when he shoots beams... Alot of people cannot copy the power of cosmic. If he was a Skrull then wow

I’m not really a fan of the idea that *any* character of significance is a Skrull. Yeah I know that defeats the purpose of the premise of secret invasion, but if Milena or Sharon or Kingo etc have secretly just been aliens with completely separate motives to what we see them express in Black Widow, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Eternals, then there goes any of the interesting thematic or character work being done with them in those stories. Secret Invasion having a couple twists like that isn’t worth harming those projects like that, for me.
Yeah, all of what you said -- along with all of the "ooh, who could be a Skrull?!?!?!?!1!!!1??" speculation in general like in this video -- made the original comics "Secret Invasion" storyline _super duper annoying_ to me at the time.
One of my big hopes from Talos & Co. in "Captain Marvel" having turned out to be decent folks was that they therefore _wouldn't_ do a "Secret Invasion" story. I already can only barely get my Mom to remember which character is which and where they're from five minutes after whatever we're watching is over; now I'm going to have to explain to her when a character was really themselves vs. their eeEeEEeVil Skrull duplicates? There's a theory I really like that Nebula is a skrull, but not in the sense that a skrull is impersonating Nebula. She's just been so disfigured by Thanos, that that's her default form and can't transform anymore.

Doesn't really matter now, but they should have shown the Skrulls to be kinda evil & ruthless during the fighting in Captain Marvel. They went from not being able to be taken seriously to good guys & refugees. We needed the setup for a realistic double-cross or alternate faction of them. Nothing about them screams "invasion" at this point.
I feel like hyping up "who's a Skrull" is missing the clear middle eastern refugee/islamophobia parallel they setup in Captain Marvel I think they are probably using the name to elicit an expectation from the general public that the Skrulls are evil so they can make a point about scapegoating broad groups being a bad thing for society.

I recently discovered Nando’s videos and just watched the oldest one that shows up on TH-cam: One Thing he Would Change about Sharon Carter in Civil War. Nando suggests that the filmmakers may have removed a subplot where Zemo mind-controlled Sharon into pushing the Avengers into direct conflict. But what if she was actually Zemo’s partner because she was a skrull back then? That would be an amazing twist that would semi-validate Nando’s theory and make Civil War even better in retrospect. Definitely my new head canon.

I want Phineas Mason to be a Skrull. He’s The Tinkerer the brains behind The Vulture and all his who up to this point, as far as I know, has yet to be arrested. It would make sense if he were a Skrull scientist laying low convincing Tombs to get more powerful tech. All of Homecoming he’s telling Tombs that he’s getting ready for the Stark job, Tombs says no, and their business takes a hit.
Who I think are Skrulls: Contessa, Christine Everhart, Wong, Sharon Carter, Selvig, Darcy, a freed Widow (the one to kick off the story ala Elektra), Bill Foster, and whoever is the new president after Ellis.

You could still have Rhodes be a skrull; his original plan was the secret invasion, but he grew to genuinely care for Tony/ humanity (especially after he helped him learn to walk again) and he could be a catalyst that reveals the invasion plan to the heroes and gets the ball rolling on stopping them or something.
