People don't realize how many patents were credited to him. He did things at GM that others never had the guts to do. He was a visionary beyond people realize.
The first thing that blew people away was the thought of putting a big motor for a large sedan into an economy car. Trust me when I tell you, in 1962 that was completely unheard of.
I have owned my GTO for over forty years. This man's decision to spearhead that creation made an unbelievable and permanent impact on my life. Those of you who, like me, have a life-long love affair with an old car will understand that the car you cherish is part of who you are. People see my GTO, they KNOW it is me because there is no other like it in the state where I live, nor have I seen an exact duplicate of it in these 40+ years. I met most of my friends because of this car, met my husband because of this car, and it is part of my identity. John DeLorean and his team began creating the GTO before I was born, and I was an infant when the first one was released. I am one of millions of people whom he never met, nor knew, yet he had an unbelievable influence upon my life's journey. John DeLorean will always be my hero. I wish I could have had the incredible honor of meeting him! I can't wait to see this movie.
What a great story you have there ! Thanks for sharing 👍. I've had a life-long affair with an old car... or make that --SEVERAL old cars... new cars...motorcycles..boats... ok, well, let's just say "I get it" 😎
Having grown up in Bloomfield Hills MI ( family moved there in 63`) John Delorean grew up in Detroit, and attended Cass Tech High School, my father ran a tool and die company, in the 60`s, had met him, on several occasions. My father had mentioned he was many years before his time, and the rank and file despised him at GM
Check out the interviews with GM execs and DeLorean himself on TH-cam. Yes, the majority of the rank and file did despise him, felt threatened by and were extremely jealous of him. Problem was that for awhile he made the company more successful so they needed him.
0:03 What I’m surprised about is Zachary’s fun and revolutionary idea to knit a sweater out of his own facial hair. Truly visionary. Sweaters will certainly never be the same. It is a new era for body-hair textiles.
I would bet DeLorean rigged an automatic remote release on those doors if indeed in the real life press conference the doors popped open by themselves like that. It would not have been hard to do even then. Of course today it's super easy.
@I. Wynn Wynn I think you need to go back and read the history books because I don't know where you're getting the fact that Tucker wasn't a self-made man he was a self-made man the reason why he was able to make his car the chucker turret turbo or however you say it is he got the money from Patton that he got from the military for the Tucker turret which is actually the same turret that was used during World War II on all the planes and is actually the basis on the turret designed that we basically have and all majority right now of all the military vehicles from Humvees tanks to Jeeps for the gun turrets yeah that's basically an ancestor to the Tucker turret the military bought that patent from him that he had on a car that he made that back before World War I could go faster than 45 miles an hour but at that time the military did not want to buy that vehicle from him because the military Minds that time felt that military vehicles did not need to go faster than 35 miles an hour on a battlefield however they did like the design of his turret so they bought that patent from him he took that money and he put it into making a factory at his house and in that factory he built that car so I don't know what you consider a self-made man but that's what I consider a self-made man
Saw this today and I can say I truly enjoyed it. Alec Baldwin, as everyone else did a great job. The rare footage and reenactments were revealing and on point. John Delorean was a very successful businessman and executive whose vision became clouded by other aspects of his personality and psyche. He and his wife Cristina Ferrare were a glamour couple that had everything. I remember seeing one of these cars in person in NYC where I live in the late 70's and I was like wow what kind of car is this? I think I was 11 years old and my brother's girlfriend was like that's a Delorean!!! it was like saying that's a Gucci or that champagne is Dom Perignon ..
It's not the first to blend documentary and fiction or even meta-fiction. There exist niche genres like Docudrama, Docufiction and Cinéma vérité. Some notable examples include Casting Jonbenet, The Arbor, The Act of Killing and This Is Not A Film.
A really interesting stylistic choice for a documentary. It's nearly 40 years since the climax of the DeLorean story. It's so ripe and low hanging there's a justifiable puzzlement that Hollywood has yet to throw the DeLorean story/saga on screen. The doc makers hire an A-list star and a rock solid supporting ensemble and shoot part of it like it's a biopic, but then they fold a little of Baldwin's thoughts back into the doc component.
I worked in a dealership that had a DeLorean on the showroom floor. I got to drive it. Loved this doc and I'd like to see one about Alex Baldwin! I had the best roflol belly laugh (literally fell off the couch laughing) at the end when they said "he was fn 80 yrs. old" OmG....I want that on MY gravestone! 🤣😂😄😅😆🤷🏻♀️
Eager to see this. As a youngster I just assumed he was guilty of the drug dealing. Age has made me more cautious. If I'm in a meeting and someone pulls out a load of coke, I'm going to smile and say what I think they want to hear until I can get the heck out.
There better be an after credits scene with Stephen Whinn hearing about the warehouse of parts and walking in as the lights go on revealing racks and racks of delorean parts and he just smiles, CUT!

To which specific movie do you refer? As co-writer on the scripted portions of this film, I concede there have been a few very interesting DeLorean documentaries made over the years, which were exhaustively referenced. By now most are dated, and I think you'll find that none of them have the kind of access our team had - over 50 interviews with every surviving member of the DeLorean story. Nice story. Ruined by Baldwin deciding to play himself playing DeLorean. Lee Pace did a much better characterization of John Z. DeLorean down to the voice and captured his coolness.
I just watched the movie , Alec Baldwin did a great job.. Thanx J.Delorean for the Pontiac production ( owned a '65 poncho) classic cars ..you went to Europe to create an import ala VW , epic fail

I like everything about this trailer except for Alec Baldwin portraying John Z. Delorean. I've spoken to Mr. Delorean a few times during the late-1990s at a couple retail stores in central New Jersey where I had worked part-time. What a gentleman he was. He had more style and grace than Alec Baldwin will ever have. That's why I think it would be difficult for me to watch this film just because it's Mr. Baldwin playing the part. Besides, Alec Baldwin loathes President Trump yet portrays him on SNL... Yet another reason why I don't care for Alec Baldwin.
People don't realize how many patents were credited to him. He did things at GM that others never had the guts to do. He was a visionary beyond people realize.
Because he was a time traveler broo!!!
thats why they set up this deal to fuck him up and get him out of the way.... good people are always a target.
The first thing that blew people away was the thought of putting a big motor for a large sedan into an economy car. Trust me when I tell you, in 1962 that was completely unheard of.
He did what The tesla do today!
All that cocaine made him very creative.

The man had style. Plus the flux dispersal on the car's steel - look out!
If you're going to make a time machine why not do it with a little style.

the real ones aren't auto btw
Not sure but I think that wasn't a feature on the Prototype car.... I've seen the prototype and it couldn't do that.
I'm sure there are kits out there with sound effects too- I go look >>> th-cam.com/video/d0a4Vgku3QA/w-d-xo.html
