Great video Glenn, showing the living, working community that still exists, as well as some of the history of our beautiful town. Bravo!
Loved the video. Re the Jet, fascinating. In the past ive bought about 6 pieces made of Jet. Fantastic little jewellers in Whitby but boy they have loads to sell. I love it. Been on the boat trips. I just love Whitby ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video, so much to see. Thank you. 👏👏👏
Thankyou for watching.
Hear hear, one of your best, nice to see the town & fishermen preparing for the new season after winter.
Love these clips very informative and interesting.
I bought a pair of jet earrings one holiday in Whitby. I'll be back. 👍👍👍💯💯
Great video 👍😊
Two iconic items. The picture of Henry Freeman the lone survivor of the1861 lifeboat disaster and the lifebuoy from the hospital ship Rohilla that foundered on
rocks at Saltwick.
Thankyou for watching Nook.
Beatiful video 😍🌹👏👏👏
Great video.👍👍👍
Lisa & I will be visiting Whitby in the first half of this year as normal. Plus our annual pilgrimage to Robin Hoods Bay for the Victorian Christmas.
I'm also attempting the Coast to Coast walk this year at the age of nearly 64. I feel a meal in Whitby coming up on completion. So many great places to eat.😁😁
Good luck with that Nobby, treat yourself to fish & chips at the Fisherman's Wife!
@@TPT6148 Thanks for the 'Heads Up' on that one. Not tried that one yet.😉👍👍👍😁😁😁😁
Lovely, but a great pity that some of the audio was missing; any chance of a re-upload so we can hear what the jet carver was saying?
Hi John I was a bit worried I would get a copyright strike as he had the radio on in the shop. But you can see that section with audio at the link below.
Ill be revisiting Rich in the coming weeks and making something a bit more elaborate with him.

Thank you Glenn for my trip down memory lane, so many happy memories of the lifeboat station and the years I worked in the lifeboat museum. A great insight video of Whitby.
Hopefully I might get to see it again next week fingers crossed.
Thankyou for watching and commenting Kat. Not much changes here fast does it. Bet it's just as you remember it.
@@thewhitbyphotographer the only change is the museum we had to close the old wooden doors at close of play, now they have new glass doors, it was freezing cold all the time, so I’m guessing it’s much warmer in there now.
Solar panels on the church roof? Terrible idea. They always ruin the aesthetics of a rooftop. In my opinion.
No. The solar panels are for The Abbey Visitor Centre Roof. Sorry if I confused you.
@thewhitbyphotographer Oh okay. Probably me not listening properly. I've seen them on rooftops in the Langdales. They're awful and shouldn't be allowed.
Fortunately I dont think you'll be able to see them on the visitor centre.

I have been up on the Parish Church roof several times over the years and the lead is engraved with drawings I particularly remember boot prints.
Surly being a place of god ,it can produce its own electric ?
Those jet pieces were amazing 😅
5:15 I can't believe that guy told you that you can't film them setting up; you're in a public place, so you're allowed to film whatever you want. I certainly wouldn't want people telling me what to do with my camera, especially when it comes to doing my fairground hobby; I do a lot of fairground videos on my channel. Even though the only big ride at this amusement park is the House Of Mouse Funhouse, I plan on doing a walkthrough video of it for my TH-cam channel if I go to Whitby on the 17th August, I just hope that I don't get any trouble filming it.
NOT allowed is that you charlie veitch 🤣
At 13:40 there is a vessel heading out. Is it carrying waste from the harbour floor?
It keeps the harbour clear to boats by scooping out mud and silt. An all year round job.
Whitby jet is absolutely phenomenal.. put unfortunately very expensive.. I'd like to get a ring commissioned buy these people.. but I know it will be very costly.. I just wanted a plain silver ring with black Whitby jet in the middle of it... Maybe I will drop by and see what price they can quote me.. I actually have some Whitby jet that I found when beachcombing in Whitby.. it marks brown. As it is supposed to.. but it's only a very small amount... Probably enough for my ring?
Thanks again Glen. Best wishes to your family.
Lol one shat on me yesterday.
Great video. Love the drone footage 😊
Hey thank you :)
Great video thanks ☺️
Thankyou Malcolm.
Thanks for showing but you have sound issue with the Jet man segment.
Another awesome tour of Whitby Glen thank you.. Miss the sound of those seagulls.... But I don't miss them bloody veil creatures 🤮. There's always something going on in Whitby. Now spring is here summer will be coming people will come to Whitby in their thousands. I don't do well with many people so it's this time of year I tend to stay away from Whitby.. not Spring but definitely summer.. I will be about as close to Whitby as I get when watching your videos. If you're in a public place you can certainly film 📽️🎥 so I have no idea what that guy's on about unless it's private property??
Whitby... Just can't beat it
From the thumbnail I was expecting a row 😂Charlie Vetch
I have a couple of conflicts I could post at some point.
@@thewhitbyphotographer they always attract a lot of views
@@carolmoorhouse Its a sad day isn't it when dealing with a bell end brings more views than all the things you would much prefer to be doing.
@@thewhitbyphotographer yes it is Glenn very sad
Hello glen how are you love your vidio its very interested and the beautiful rings Whitby jet best wishes take care stay safe xx ❤😅😅😊
Would that be Shari law ma man.
Congratulations RNLI 200 years.. unsung Heroes.. without these guys around the country and especially in Whitby many people wouldn't be here today.. it is truly an awesome organisation that should be government funded but is not... These guys and girls are true Heroes.. happy birthday to you guys.. Well earned ,well deserved 🟧🟦 🟥🛟
Thankyou Shaun :)
Didn’t two Whitby fishermen get sacked by the RNLI for what was a rude prank, I for one am not happy that their very experienced crew were dispatched for such a mild offence.
Yep
The RNLI do not want or require government involvement. They are doing just fine being independent.
@@johnweighell7725 Not only did the loose 2 good men, they also divided a community. It's very sad. I dont blame the local Lifeboat crew, it's not their fault, but at a National level things aren't what they should be. Well thats my opinion, for what it's worth.
