Thanks for the video. I am using the nice hand crank winch to lift a jeep hard top. I have strung it straight up like yours and then down through the middle of my garage with 2 double pulleys and I have significant twisting. Restring? obviously I guess. Use only 2 single pulleys? What is the secret to avoid twists at the pulleys? Why can't I seem to use the double pulleys? Any references for making the cabling look pretty without twists? Thanks for your video and comments.

Can i use this to lift a small engine , say a daihatsu cuore engine with the gearbox?

An entire Daihatsu Cuore weighs about 1500 lbs. The smallest winch has a 1200 lbs capacity. I'm sure the engine weighs much less than the entire car, and this winch can support it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daihatsu_Mira

Can synthetic winch rope be used with this winch?

Yes, be sure the end of the rope can be properly secured to the drum, and that you put the recommended number of wraps on the drum to achieve the WLL of the rope or winch ( whichever is lower).
