Thank you!!! I am 77 and find myself with all the honeydos. I needed to lower the beam to horizontal on my log splitter, but I am not strong enough to pull it down. I had my husband's hand cable winch, but didn't know how to use it. I am learning everyday. Thanks for your tutorial.
Very good, clear video. My Ace winch of the same type won't release the cable. This video may help. Update: It did help. The crucial part for me starts at 0:35 and shows how to operate the levers to open the jaws so you can feed or release the cable. The instructions that came with my hoist/winch/puller are far from clear but this video is really good. The best I've seen.
that hand winch (tirfor type) is probably the most powerful man powered tool. I have one that was used in underground mining and I can tell you the only limit it has it's the cable.
This manual cable winch comes in two models: 1750 lb, and 3500 lb. It's designed for horizontal/angled* pulling (*vehicle recovery etc). Here's a more recent video that highlights it's specific features th-cam.com/video/SezZn9BrluA/w-d-xo.html. If you'd like to see some vertical lift options, we carry lever load hoists with WLLs up to 3 tons. You can check the Tyler Tool Lever Load Hoist product feature video here: th-cam.com/video/vwr1AEA-7Cc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the info on how to operate it properly.

Useful,thanks.

For our items, the limit is the stubborn workers that refuse to use them properly. I have to fix these things at least six times a year :P
Thank you I really appreciate it
Is it possible switch the wire rope to synthetic winch rope for these winches?
Quisiera ver un tiffor de 5 toneladas cual es su resistencia elastica ((vertical)
Can i use this for lifting steel trusses?
Can bike chain used instead of wire rope?
I went to the rigging site for the AW 540, but not there. What size cable does it use? 5/8", 16mm?
...so how do you release the load?
What's the maximum weight it can lift?
