Xochitl here, I have a Nicaraguan friend whose name is Eztli, meeting him made me realize how influential Nahua culture was outside of Mexico. In Nicaragua and El Salvador it's the mainstream culture proving how dominant the Nahuas were and still are in those countries.

Please make more of these videos! I’m studying Nahuatl for my dissertation paper and it’s so hard to find actual live users of the language online! It’s one thing to learn pronunciation and how to read, it’s another to hear someone speak it with the natural intonation and emotion that comes with speech and you do it so well!

It’s crazy how we once had the land and they had the Bible. Now we have the Bible and they have the land. Our people needs to leave that religion alone and bring back our ancestors roots

Yo soy salvadoreña y me apellido Quezada pero mi hijo es apellido Cuatlatoa y apenas me enteré según qué significa el que habla como águila. Can you please tell me if this is what really means so i can teach my son our culture he’s half mexican-salvadorian but his dad is white skin short men! I have Mayan-Pipil ancestors back home in el salvador including myself but we don’t really have true indigenous anymore they are almost in their 80-90 and they were afraid to pass it on to the younger generations due to all the kïllings just in 1932 more than 20,000 were kill in Sonsonate just because of our language and skin color

Hey man I’m having a hard time picking out a name for my daughter to come. Is there any way you can help me with that naming ceremony and how it goes. I’m a historian myself and although my library consists mainly of European history, it also contains a little bit everything else and therefore meso American culture as well. Now when it comes to naming my kids I get a little serious in terms of meaning. Me and my wife have been searching for a Nahuatl name and meaning this time but your ceremony sounds very interesting. Is there anyway you can help and indulge me a little more with our Nahuatl roots and culture ?

Congratulations on your baby girl! My naming ceremony was done through my calpulli. My maestro, Ocelocoatl, used the Arturo Mesa Gutierrez correlation to calculate my birth date and time in the Mexica calendar, and research my tonalamatl in the codices. You can calculate her tonalamatl using www.tonalama.com/hoy.php
You can give her a tonalamatl name using the energies in her tonalamatl, or check out this website for more Nahuatl name ideas.
