At 56 years old I'll enjoy watching the youngsters ring these machines out, I had my days back in the late 80's early 90's just can't lean over a tank anymore.

I am bouncing my GSXS1000 off the rev limiter all the time and i am 59 years old i would love to have the extra couple of Thousand at the top if only Suzuki would of put the new GSXR1000 motor in my bike it has about 170 hp after the mods i have done but the 200+hp would be preferable for myself each to there own if you say you don’t need it for the road then don’t buy it but i like it still! 😁 my wife says i think i am still 20 years old and i am ok with that!!!!!!!!

I rode a cruiser for many years and end up selling it to get into something more sporty. Well my son introduced me to the naked bikes and since then never looked back. Now I'm on a Z900 with all kinds of mods and love my bike. I was looking for an upgrade and this BMW checked all the boxes. I will wait for some reviews once the bike is out and make my final decision. This will be my retirement gift so have to be the right machine. Boy what a bike!

I have both the older S1000R and a Tuono V4RR. and i totally agree, 140-160hp is already way too much for the road, the tuono i usually shortshift even when i wan't to go fast. 210 hp all at the top makes no real sense on the street.

I know I’m getting ahead of myself here but…M1000 XR anyone? 😆 Practically speaking, the R and XR are perfectly suited to house the 165hp de tuned variant since they really are designed for the street, which you can take to the track as well, but I was very pleased to here the new M1000 R is receiving the full fat RR variant. If you’re going to put an M badge anywhere, it’s gotta mean something, not just a few extra trinkets on the bike, give it a special paint scheme and up charge customers up the wazoo. This bike has that comfortable edge over the standard model it warrants the “M”. I was also happy to see the updates for the M RR. The new model looks to be equally that needed “step up” from the standard. You aren’t getting any sort of bump in power but that front wheel situation that seriously recalls MotoGP and carbon fiber everything…yup, happy to see BMW going absolutely bonkers with these new releases.

Don't even think about it, the SFV4S is the right choice. the M1000R looks good on paper, but it's nowhere near the Ducati's quality of components (suspension, brakes, and so on) and the build quality looks pretty poor (look at those horrible screws holding the wings and the instrument cluster). What the BMW has the upper hand is the electronics package, but the 2023 SFV4, which you're getting anyway if you have one on order, will have all the electronics from the facelifted Panigale, and, they will probably keep on updating the software with new features free of charge, as they're doing with the Panigale.

I understand it differently. The engine is taken from the S1000RR, not the M1000RR. This explains why it is so much cheaper. But, to be honest, having the engine from the M1000RR in a roadster makes absolutely no sense. Do it is great like it and a good alternative to the streetfighter v4s

KTM super Duke is a totally naked bike. The Aprilia, Streetfighter, and now this are semi naked. Semi naked looks nicer as more bling fairings. Still love the industrial look of KTM with engine fully visible. I almost bought a Streetfighter over my Super Duke but can not see much of the engine with a semi naked. I also own a MV AGusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition black/yellow. Love seeing the engine like a Lambo or Ferrari

The last true sensible street naked bike IMO was the 2018-2020 Speed Triple RS. The current RS is way too focused just like the V4 Streetfighter and others in the segment. Now BMW have done the same stupid thing.
If you want to ride a supersport bike, then buy a supersports bike with wind protection so you can at least use it, otherwise save your money and get something more useable and cheaper for the street.

I own super Duke 1290 r and MV AGusta dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. The super Duke is all streetable rpm below 9600 rpm. The MV with Silmoto titanium full exhaust sounds like a F1 but at 13,000 rpm. It’s hard to use high rpm high rpm horsepower on the street vs the track. Your almost triple digits just in first gear on the MV. Prefer lower rpm high horsepower for street. No other bike gives you both vs Super Duke. The SD dyno shows more horsepower than Streetfighter and ZH2 unt SD redline 9600
Rpm. I do like the look of this BMW. But again you must redline these bike for their advertised horsepower

Looks like an absolute weapon of a bike. Confusingly put together as BMW have tried to make it road focused with an upright riding position but then given it the full race bike treatment which renders it almost unusable, within legal limits, in the road. Unfortunately I feel that 95% of riders out there would never use it to its full potential, especially on the road. And given the price point I’d say there’s much more road friendly bikes with more usable power out there, like the speed triple, for a fraction of the cost. The only reason I can see to buy this bike in the performance package trim is for bragging rights at the local bike meet and track days. That said it will be the most desirable one in future and likely hold its value better. But the impracticality of no fairing makes it less usable in my opinion on bigger trips and therefore nothing more than a very expensive toy. Streetfighter V4 still looks more exotic to me and has Ducati character. A little worried the BMW could actually be too refined and good?

    • @Joshua-le1vn

If you've got the money then why not :) I agree with what you said, but it will be an expensive toy for most that have cost as no option.

Starting a hp war in the super naked category is kinda senseless you may as well just buy the sport bike version and put bar risors on it. Most of theses bikes are just that anyways, the sport bike version with straight bars slapped on them and a de-tuned/ re-cammed engine for more midrange, which made sense. Now manufacturers are making the engines peaky like the sportbike they were derived from which kinda defeats the purpose of the bike IMO. I think the KTM is the only purpose built super naked of the bunch and while that motor my not have the peak hp of the Ducati or this new 1000r its amazing, no waiting for revs to build on the SDR before its sending you forward rapidly and launching the front wheel skyward. In the real world you get more smiles per mile with the KTM especially if your the hooligan, twisties type of rider. Personally I find going 170 to 180mph on a naked much less enjoyable than going that fast or faster on my sportbikes, without a full fairing its just not a naked bikes happy place so why add an the hp. I definitely like the look of the bike and that new cam technology looks really cool and no doubt it will be a better bike than it's predecessor but to me did it really need 40hp, hp won't put you at the top of the list. A friend of mine has the DUCATI and while he luvs the bike he complains the motor is too peaky especially compared to my SDR, I can have way more fun on my SDR on the back wheel....haha.

I only have one criteria for a motorcycle-will it take me to the local state forests to ride the roads there, will it take me to my normal hiking spots in those forests, and will it take me to the local Amish farm fer eggs and milk? Since even the crappiest of motorcycles checks all those boxes, then I suppose so does the BMW M1000R.
