  • Join us for an exciting day of hunting in the Adirondacks as it all comes together for Mike. A process that was 13 months in the making from the day we first scouted the Adirondacks. Tons of miles and hours logged in the mountains and there is nothing more rewarding!
    The story in the big woods is about far more than the kill. A lot of work goes into the process and we're here to share our journey along the way!

    What a great Adirondack buck. Enjoy the mountains, they are as tough and unforgiving as there is. I’ve been wandering around them since 1993 and love them.

    You should stay at the gut pile, every buck I shot, that night the deer come to the gut pile, i’m not sure why but they do it every time, when I was 7 years old, I got my first buck opening day in Vermont, and I was sitting on our friends gut pile from that morning, my next buck I got when I was 14 and The next morning, I went hunting again to help push to the rest of the family, I went straight to the gut pile from the day before and so many deer tracks around it, after that day I have always paid attention to the gut pile, or send somebody to my gut pile and it usually works out.

      Thanks Alan! After NY, I hunted VT rifle and muzzleloader. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fill a tag but had a great season nonetheless! Passed some young bucks and saw a decent number of deer. Already looking forward to next season!

    Nice buck ! Antlers ain't huge but that's ok, if it makes you happy that's all that matters bub! Can't eat them antlers no matter how long you boil them hahahaha congrats on your buck!

    • @WanderingWhitetails
      @WanderingWhitetails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha that’s right! When we’ve put on hundreds of mountain miles within a 2 season span between the two of us and hadn’t seen a single buck yet… at that point any buck is a damn good buck! Especially a nice 8 point like this! The northern Adirondacks are possibly one of the most challenging places to hunt in the entire country. A hard earned buck is that much more rewarding. 👊🏻🦌

    What kind of 2 way radios u guys using?

  • @redwolfmedia1276
    @redwolfmedia1276 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This might be a stupid question, why do you drag the deer? There's a few awesome packs for quartering bags and hauling animals out of remote locations. Even guys do it in Iowa,Kansas,etc.. . If anyone outside Alaska could use those packs it'd be you Mountain men out there in Vermont and N.Y.,etc.. . Regardless you guys are some tough Sons of guns I know that. It makes me think this is how we used to do it back when America was still wild and untamed. Amazing hunt 👏 🙌!

    • @WanderingWhitetails
      @WanderingWhitetails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely not a stupid question! Lots of hunters do pack out in NY state, especially far back in the Adirondack mountains. However, being from VT, the drag out has always been just as important of a part of the hunt as every other aspect for us. In VT rifle season, we are required to physically bring the deer to a check station to weight it and report it. The drag out of the mountains is a sacred and ceremonious tradition of big woods hunting for us! Of course there may be easier ways but we truly enjoy it (even through the sweat, pain and pure exhaustion)! Thanks for watching and dropping a question/comment!
