    The clips for the bumper lights and head lights and taillights come in the spare parts bag for the RedCat Gen 8. That’s what I used connect my lights.

    Awesome job. Looks great but I have to ask.. all that work and you didn't bother to paint the interior? Even a basic black would have been nice.

      I left it clear so the light would reach the bottom of the truck .. see the whole thing

    I wish you would have used Velcro instead of screws in the body for the interior!! I hate putting holes in the body if I don't have to, unless I'm installing a light bar, or mirrors perhaps! Just my opinion!! I found your channel while looking, and really enjoyed it!! Very well done!! Thank you sir for all you do, and have a great day!!

      @@RickysGarageVibes I've had a chance to mess around a bit with it in the yard but none on the rocks yet, I've got it all upgraded and it is CRAZY fun! Only one thing though, my light kit kinda flickers and I'm not sure why. I'll investigate a bit later but yeah you were right. I am definitely gonna have a good time with this rig!

    Great tips! I wonder why Redcat didn't do this setup from the factory.

    • @RickysGarageVibes
      @RickysGarageVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True and agreed! Hope that's next ....

    • @hyperlogos
      @hyperlogos 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They didn't do this from the factory because 1) extending the wheelbase makes it easier to high-center, which the vehicle does plenty already. 2) they went with the 2100kV motor instead of the 1800kV, and that has an external ESC. Maybe Hobbywing couldn't supply enough of these so they went with the other. Or maybe they felt the additional speed was necessary.

  • @flat-out
    @flat-out 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Excellent...would you change your other trucks to that same Fusion 2 in 1 motor like in your TRX-4 Defenfer/Bronco and Axial Bomber?
    I'm interested to know and see if you'd make a video too as I have a Defender and Axial Bomber 2.0

    • @RickysGarageVibes
      @RickysGarageVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! I've installed QuikRun Fusions into 7 of my RCs already and it's what Ill buy from now on until there's something better ... love them. They are light, brushless, waterproof, quiet, don't need tuning, drives smooth the best of all the motors I have. I put HW Fusions in the SCX10iii & SCX10ii, MB Scaler, two Gen 8 V2, Gen 8 V1, the RC4WD Desert Runner. My Axial Bomber has a Castle Creations Mamba X, my TRX4 Sports have HW Axes in them. I can do a vid for you with the HW Fusion in the TRX4 Defender or Bronco or Tactical!

    • @flat-out
      @flat-out 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RickysGarageVibes Thanks a lot Ricky 👍 I'll look forward to watching them. I saw RC Girl's video putting the HW Fusion in her Defender, I want to see your version as well and what other things you might do with the trucks.
      Btw I'm contemplating in keeping or selling my Axial Bomber 2.0 it is still brand new hasn't even touch dirt yet.
      All I've done is change the steering link to aluminum as well as the rear trailing arm and also bought the Incision SS links, sway bar and a set of piggy back shocks for the rear.
      However in my videos in my channel here you can see I've been driving my TRX-4 Defender most of the time it has become my fav truck. I thought my Bomber 2.0 would accompany it. I like the 2.2 size tires on it and it's a different rig but I'm think I want to get the Gen 8 Axe instead and sell the bomber.

    @karansahni2066 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wow Ricky! Great stuff man.
    I finally got my truck. What's a good budget motor+ESC combo that I can get to make it crawl slow and get some low-end torque?
    Gonna extend the wheelbase as you did for sure! Lights would be the next :D

    • @RickysGarageVibes
      @RickysGarageVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The HobbyWing Fusion is 149 with the motor and esc combined and its brushless... I like this one the best and putting them in all my rigs. Better than Axe, Castle Creations, etc. haven’t tried the budget motor/esc from amazon or eBay to know which is comparable

    • @RickysGarageVibes
      @RickysGarageVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand brother ... I say go straight to the fusion vs buying several motors over time but that’s my take .. I’ve bought them in stages because they do add up .. what motor are you thinking of?

      @@RickysGarageVibes Ricky I've ordered a HH crawlmaster 13T with a 1080HW ESC. Sucks that I live in the city and don't have good spots around me. My aim is get a nice super slow crawl! Even if it's half as good as you show on your channel, I'll be good.

    Why do you run your shocks slanted instead of upright?

    • @RickysGarageVibes

      It gives a better approach and departure angle for the type of driving I do .. pushes the tire closer to the bumper giving more space for the tire to reach the rocks before the bumper hits the rocks 🪨

    Why in the hell would you cut the wires and solder to cut wires together you could have unsoldered the old wires from the end of the deans connector and just soldered that connector directly to the wires

      Perfectly fine if you solder your connections and use heat shrink tubing to ensure nothing touches
