If you're interested in the Redcat Gen8 vinyl set, I sell a limited amount on my Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1365492451/vinyl-graphic-gen-8-v2-scout-body
I loved my Gen8 Axe! The Gen2 has most of the updates that they applied to the Axe without the fancier electronics. I gifted it to my brother recently to pass along the hobby, but I ran it regularly for months. No complaints about my portals breaking. Truck has has Mod 1 gears, so they are inherently a bit louder than what you might be used to regardless of lubrication. I did a bunch of upgrades, some of which were cosmetic and some functional. My favorite little change was the amazing Reefs sliders. They aren't cheap, but the construction is some sort of hardened steel and they are very smooth. It made a big difference to pivot around rocks. I raised them up a bit with spacers (maybe 5mm?) and trimmed the body a bit- they tuck in really nicely. The new foams look way better than the ones I had. I moved pretty quickly to Hyrax Predators and dual stage foams and they were a nice improvement. I agree the stock tires are pretty decent, especially on trails. But the center just lacks bite I need for my rocky New England terrain. Club5 makes some neat little parts for this, including a really nice chrome badge kit and a magnet set that includes a batch with everything you need, sized perfectly. The stock bumpers are really good, I think. Only broke one over tons of runs and it was really cheap to get a replacement. I want to say like $7-10 for front and rear?! BUT! I HATE HATE HATE the way the little plastic tow shackles get stuck in the upward position as you brush against terrain. Drives me crazy when I get a nice pic and then notice a shackle is pointing up! I got some little aluminum ones and they dangle down so much more realistically. You can tuck the bumpers up well with some mild body trimming. It did a lot to fix my departure angle in particular. I also clipped off the tow mount to avoid that bit getting hung up. I like that winch, too- look cool. I did the big Reefs one and mounted it internally to keep things clean, but if I did it again I'd probably use the RC4WD one. Nice video! Thanks for the review. I think the Gen8 is underappreciated and looked down on a bit, but it's a really good trail truck. I would LOVE a review on the cutting machine. So cool. It'd be awesome to be able to cut my own decals!
Ok, after 4 days I have watched all your “RC Car and Parts Unboxing” series. Binge watching at it’s finest. On to the next videos. *BTW, You do a Great job, and you are very in detail and easy to follow. Thank you for your time, videos and knowledge. It’s a lot to take in but I’m getting it...
I've seen a couple of them out on the trail and they seem to do really well. Jeeps and Toyotas are cool, but it is so nice to something different, and the classic Scout II looks so much better.
Great vid! And now for un-asked for tips! Dual stage foams are the best bang for buck upgrade on these trucks. I own a V1(blue), V2(purple), and Axe edition. The original and V2 foams don't seem any different but both eventually break in to the point that they over compress on side hilling. Pro line Dual stage 1.9 XLs or I make my own with EVA foam mats and 1 inch thick open cell foam from a craft store. I love the vinyl sticker! I may have to talk to my friend about making something for my trucks! The V2 axle and skid plate updates are huge improvements over the V1 designs. Finally I recommend the Club5 racing servo mount. It is not necessary but it really improves the bump steer. There are other low budget fixes but the product is well made. Keep up the great work!
well i saw this online today....and decided to do some research on it and your video was the second to pop up.... i have to say...your review was 10x more detailed and much better than the previous. I think ive made my decision to purchase this model! Thank you for your video!
Love the redcat rig. Gets a little hate but I just like how it drives. It has been good to me. I have the axe edition. The v2 has all the right updates with the right price. I would def recommend it.
Awesome review great job on explaining the difference between the gen8 V1 and V2. they kept the price the same but you get all those upgrades. Amazing transformation from the plain green Scout to a truly unique machine that is very eye-catching. Always love watching your videos Your Enthusiasm and your smile. RC girl for the win
I was considering the Redcat when I bought my TRX4 Bronco. It's still on my list as a truck I want. I really like the Scout body too. I think I will get the Purple Passion...
Gen8 v2 is a great deal you wood love it iv got some trx4 trx4 sport and i love the gen8 as much maybe even more i just like it change the remote and its a great crawler and looks awsome
Meh.....I dunno about all that. I think the trx-4 shames the scout 2 effortlessly. I bought the gen2 axe, and ended up being immensely disappointed. The trx4 sport walks all over it. The redcat is just sooooooo top heavy, it's aggravating to drive. I named it Rover, 'cause all it wants to do is roll over.
Stay away from redcat horrible cs and most of there stuff is junk mine came broke remote skuff marks light kit didnt work diffs dry on grease its been 2 wks iv emailed called they wont return my emails i will never buy redcat brand ever again
Whenever you get into 3D printing. Get a resin printer vs SLA. You're welcome. ;) But to give some context, I have a Creality Endro Pro (SLA). It's a fine printer and can print larger stuff but the quality difference between that an Resin is night & day. SLA printers have those lines on them. Small lines yes but they're easily seen. Resin printers (get as large as you can afford) come out looking like smooth molded plastic right out the factory. It's the way to go. That vinyl sticker looks great by the way. Great work.
After years of obtaining bashers, I bought my first crawler recently; the Danchee Ridgerock. Just never had a desire to get into crawlers. Who knows, the Ridgerock might be my gateway. This vehicle though, looks amazing.
I think Silhouette should thank many of us RC geeks for using their products to make custom stickers for our models. Haha! I did something like that on my mini crawler (but I hope to get a 1/10th scale one soon). Your GEN8 looks so much better after your customization 😁👍🏻
Very informative.. You take the time to give so much information. Also the quality of your vid's are excellent. Thank you and keep up the great work. Stay safe...
You still need the MyTrick RC light kit for Gen8!!! I have it on mine. Looks great. Gen v1 had memory foam in tires. They are softer in hot weather, but stiff in cold climates.
So glad I found this video. I recently picked up a blue Gen 8. The body is beat and I've been trying to decide on the purple or green V2 replacement body. I also plan on updating the skid and other heavy duty parts to make more of a V2 rig. I think I'm going to have to visit your Etsy page to order some decals. Because, yeah, that's a ton of green! You rock!
Loved watching the progress of this truck. You definitely have really inspired me to love my crawlers more. Just ordered a Gelande Heritage Edition based on your recommendation. Keep up with these amazing videos. 😊
@@RCGirl some of the custom accessories look so good! Annoyingly for me not many people sell them here in the UK. You have a much better choice where you are.
Thanks for this vid! I think the V2 is wayyyyy underrated. I cant wait to show my wife this vid. Odds are she'll be telling her "mechanic" to get a winch installed lol!
Well then, watched my first review by you. Subscribed. Become a Pateron of yours. And decided on my next crawler. They call that a trifecta where I come from. Nicely done!
It’s a ton of fun. I got into it two years ago after thinking it wasn’t for me. I was all about fast and racing, but this is super relaxing. Very family friendly and you don’t really break stuff all the time like racing.
The gen8 v2 is the best bang for buck when it comes to crawlers !! Remote is horrible tho i changed mine to a dumbo and it made it drive 100 percent better iv got the trx4 trx4 sport and the gen8 is as good and cheaper cant go wrong with a gen 8 v2 iv got 3 of them now
@@roosterrc6519 I would have to say for the 40$ I would still go with the trx 4 sport. It’s just a little more capable then the scout in my opinion. The sport is a super solid truck and I have had 0 issues with mine at all. Redcat had some gear issues in the portals for a while, but seam to be fine with the upgraded parts. Both are great trucks but I lean towards the trx 4 sport just a little.
Seriously considering buy this GEN8 V2 crawler. I like that it looks different and the RTR performance looks impressive right out of the box. but I know I will not leave it like that.:-) Your video aided my decision to go with them. Keep up the videos. Thanx RC Girl.
I am really sorry because I love your channel RC Girl, but my experience since ordering this kit last week has been really bad. The bitgo website said in stock so I ordered it. I got no confirmation. Just the money taken from my acct. So I waited 5 days and called to be told it was being shipped yesterday and that he would send me tracking. After getting no emails I called today to be told that they have none in stock and that redcat is sending it to me now. Very shady stories and bs from Bitgo Hobbies. Not anything against you RC Girl. I just want to make people aware that they may not get what they pay for from them.
Video was great, always love your content. I particularly like watching with my daughter. Hoping seeing you will help get her hooked on the RC possibilities. Never commented anywhere before, but looked through your videos for one on the traxxas slash as we're considering short course racing. Would love to see you put one out as we're starting our comp. slash build shortly. Thx
I spent $600 on a axial 10 iii last week and already have many problems with it. Clicking like crazy, the dig servo died after 2 tries inside and Axial isnt very willing to do anything about either even though both problems are a known issue. I wish I had seen the redcat before or gone with the the Traxxas TRX4 for the same money but a bullet proof rig. Why ship a RTR that has dig and 2nd gear but not ship with a radio to make use of it. Every thing that is advertised on the Redcat or the Traxxas comes truly RTR out of the box. Really sad with Axial at this point. Love all the videos RCgirl keep em coming.
I know the vanquish is a half cab (non licensed body) but... Redcat needs to do a AXE Edition V2 with a half-cab body. The half-cab body will help lower the big bodies center of gravity, the Axe system with the updated skid and axles . I guarantee they would sell like sliced bread !! Great video !
That's a pretty nice rig. I'm trying to find a good rig my wife will enjoy operating. I'm in the process of trying to get her more interested in the hobby. I think she would have a good time once we get out on the trail and can experience what a good rig is capable of.
I'm saving up for the gen 8 or 9. Nothing has broken in 8 months of heavy use mine is the gen7 sport. And it always works perfectly. The tires show very little wear, the tires are perfect.
The only thing my brother has broke on his gen 1 scout I guess you call it is the front portal input gear. Was literally driving on flat ground going slow and turned and that was it. But it happened on the second one he bought as well. Changed those two out and have had 0 problems since then. Very capable rig just a bit top heavy.
That Redcat Racing International Scout II looks absolutely fantastic! I’m going to have to get one. I love the graphics that you put on the side and the winch. Thanks for the review and have a great day RC girl.
Hi Rc Girl! Great review of the Redcat Scout truck! Your upgrades are perfect on that green Beast! The wheels turned out great but I would of done the whole wheel that vinyl sticker turned out awesome! I have a Cricket cutter I'm going to have to try some stuff with it myself! Fun trail run and buggy recovery with the Scout great content!😉👍📹
Nice job on the Gen 8. I just got me one yesterday and I'm loving it. I seen your channel started checking it out I like your content so I'm a new subscriber. Keep up the good work

Your videos have gotten so much better over time. So has your driving skills with rock crawling. Your first few rock crawling vids were so so,, but now??? Rockin it babe!!!!!!!!!!. And a Babe you are at that!!!!!!! I'm sure that helps your channel as well. Very easy on the eyes. Love what you're doing. The flight vids are fantastic as well. SO cool to see your learning process that I went through to get you where you're at. I'll fly anything now knowing that if Anyone can fly it,, I can. After that,, it's just luck of the draw. Coming from a helicopter RC background,, ANY fixed wing is easier!!! LOL Love your vids and LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!! Great personality.
HAH yeah it's so funny to look back on my first few crawler vids. It's been really cool to share my progression in the hobby (and progress on youtube vids in general). I've learned a ton and progressed a lot in my RC skills and filming/editing skills. I've tried to pick up at least one or two new skills/techniques in each vid. Glad that shows through.
I put the same axles under my gen 7 pro, have had zero issues.also, the tires will pull out of the stock bead lock rims,I recommend replacing those.i also am using my dx5c transmitter so I could dial in expo on the throttle and steering. I upgraded the steering servo alao.
I got one last week in green, but its not the bright green you have, its quite a bit darker. This is without a doubt the best bang for $$ rc crawler out at the moment, the only negative is tbe radio they supply is sub par
After trying out a few smaller WPL Crawlers, I've pulled the trigger on a 10th scale one. Looking forward to getting it built up now. Went with a Carisma SCA-1E kit, as the cost for me (in the UK at least) represents brilliant value. Love what you've done to this though!
hi rc girl fist time commenting but ive been watching your videos awhile they aer better then most of the guys .So i have the gen7 pro in orange one and black shell orange seems to be my fav these redcat rigs are very nice outta the box i put a brushless hi torqe system in mine with a dumbo rc to control the throttle the gen8 v2 will be my next crawler i wouldnt spend more for the name jus saying.keep up the good videos smile spring is coming
If you place a piece of tape on each end of the Velcro strips allowing only the middle portions to adhere to each other the body will stay secure for all but the most violent driving while allowing easier removal and an end to the corners pulling free from the body/fender wells. 'Bully' for Redcat offering a nicely detailed, solidly engineered platform at a price point that allows for modest upgrading without suddenly having a $1,000 RC. This recent, almost universal acceptance of $500+ for a decent, hobby-grade RTR is sullying my view of some manufacturers.

Fantastic Crawler. I think, i will start to drive RC-Cars like this... ;-)
Nice mods especially the scale winch.
Nice job on the Gen 8. I just got me one yesterday and I'm loving it. I seen your channel started checking it out I like your content so I'm a new subscriber. Keep up the good work
Great additions. Really brought some new thoughts.
I like the black wheels and the vinyl graphics look sweet.
Very nice, looks like great value for money.
Love the mods, trailblazers gotta look the part ;)
Btw, the tune in the trail run part is real cool, anyone know what it is?
Tried soundhound, but it didn`t work lol :p
@@afrog2666 It's called "Heart and Soul" by Blood Red Sun - got it from Epidemic Sound which is a creator site for music www.epidemicsound.com/track/78IzC5vj9f/
I did go for the green one too. Really nice for the price, love it.
Very nice truck, great mods👍🏻
Great video. Like the soundtrack👍 I listened to the video just to hear the soundtrack over and over,, And Anyway good video⭐️⭐️
Great video !very helpful. Can i use reguler enamel on the wheels or do i have to use polycarbonite spray paint ?
Great looking truck. Makes me want to go buy another one.
Great budget crawler yours turned out awesome👍
After trying out a few smaller WPL Crawlers, I've pulled the trigger on a 10th scale one. Looking forward to getting it built up now. Went with a Carisma SCA-1E kit, as the cost for me (in the UK at least) represents brilliant value. Love what you've done to this though!
Nice video! Amazing car!
Nice review! Thinking about getting my girlfriend the purple one. Maybe she'll go crawling with me then. 🤞
You don't have a gf tho.
hi rc girl fist time commenting but ive been watching your videos awhile they aer better then most of the guys .So i have the gen7 pro in orange one and black shell orange seems to be my fav these redcat rigs are very nice outta the box i put a brushless hi torqe system in mine with a dumbo rc to control the throttle the gen8 v2 will be my next crawler i wouldnt spend more for the name jus saying.keep up the good videos smile spring is coming
Work! very inspiring! 🤙🏼 the Body is so Scale
What a sweet truck I wish there was some redcat dealers in canada
Think this will be my next purchase. Looks like a lot of value for the money
Rig looks great very nice trucks
Looks awesome. Nicest setup I've seen!
